The Queen Who Deserves To Be Tainted - Chapter 36.2
“It must be difficult for a princess to be accustomed to this kind of thing.”
Having been a servant to a princess, she had no choice but to acquire the skill naturally. Elfreda felt a bit embarrassed but handled it gracefully.
“It looked interesting, so I learned a bit.”
“Right, that’s fair enough, but…”
He brushed it off casually and asked.
“Will you be able to go out by yourself?”
If she didn’t go out alone, it would look like there had been something happening inside. Elfreda nodded as if it was obvious. Moreover, she had someone else to meet.
“I’ll go now.”
As Elfreda hurried out, Ejnar narrowed his eyes. He felt a strange sensation. When he left the queen’s bedroom, did she feel this way, too?
Something very…
‘Dirty.’
Yet his pride kept him from stopping her. The way she moved so effortlessly only stirred his feelings further, as if he were the one being overly anxious. He then recalled the countless tales of seductresses who would entangle kings in their charms and lead them astray.
If this woman had intended this situation, she would indeed be a clever seductress.

Illene waited outside the office for Elfreda, who had gone into the king’s study. However, the conversation between the king and queen was taking longer than expected. In the meantime, she passed the time by listening to updates from her colleagues at the central palace, suspecting nothing unusual.
“Anyway, there’s been nothing much happening at the central palace. It’s become a bit dull since Lady Haegan is gone.”
“When will you be back? Didn’t the king give any hints?”
“Well, I think I’ll be at the Solar Palace for a while.”
Originally, Ejnar had hinted that she would return by the first tea gathering, but for some reason, he hadn’t called for her since then. Illene felt a sense of relief about this. When she first saw Elfreda, she had looked like a ghost, but since arriving, she seemed to be gradually regaining her vitality.
Some might consider it excessive self-consciousness, but Illene took significant pride in her work at the Solar Palace because of it.
In truth, the king had many capable people besides her, so having one more person to serve the queen wouldn’t be a major issue. Moreover, given the recent problems with the current ladies-in-waiting, she figured the chances of the king calling her back were even slimmer.
“Illene! Where is Illene?”
At the sound of commotion coming from behind, Illene turned to see her childhood friend, Robert Eugen, running toward her in panic.
What an ungraceful sight that was. It was hard to believe he was one of the king’s closest aides.
“What’s so urgent that you’re running like that?”
“Hah, hah… I, I was worried you’d leave without me…”
He must have rushed over in a hurry; his hair was a mess. Robert quickly tried to smooth it down with his hands.
“Of all times for something urgent to happen, seriously.”
“We already greeted each other earlier. What’s the problem?”
At her words, Robert glared at Illene, his eyes narrowing.
“You think it’s fine to just say hi and then part ways?”
“Why wouldn’t it be okay?”
Illene replied bewilderedly, causing the other attendants nearby to exchange amused glances without her noticing. Then, they cleared their throats and suddenly grouped together.
“Um, Lady Haegan. Since Sir Robert is here, we should probably head out now.”
“Oh, yes. I’ve been keeping you busy. See you all later!”
“Take care, and we’ll meet again, Lady Haegan.”
Illene smiled brightly as she bid farewell to her colleagues. Once they were finally left alone, Robert’s expression quickly shifted back to a relaxed one, as if he had never looked dissatisfied.
