though, it is wicked to despise the illegitimate children of her husband but I cannot say that I, mgsmef woukd be good to them because probably.. or most likely I will act the same as the empress.. because I am just a mere human.. pathetic human I know but at least you are thue to yourself when you dont want hve someone in your life.

probably regret, misunderstandings, maybe when she talked of having a child he though she meant either bedding another woman or adopting a 'barbarian' child.
Since to his knowledge she is infertile, and well it'll go to her running away because she thinks he would either have her child killed or he would just throw her out.

I think, per the description of the novel, has something to do with her being pregnant, which apparently she is interfile so when she brought it up he probaly thought she was gonna ask him to take someone to sire an heir.
Theres probably other stuff going on too which broke the camels back for her so to speak.
