Once he opened the door and they entered, Irene’s actions of pressing her lips to his made any playful thoughts evaporate. Instead, he expressed his feelings honestly.
“I missed you, Honey.”
“…Me too. I missed you, Honey.”
They briefly paused in their kiss, looked into each other’s eyes, and smiled.

Eventually, our family, along with all the villagers, moved to the new land. Although the harvest was over, we had to prepare for winter and also manage the overlapping weddings of my brother and me, making our schedule tight.
The new estate, not far from the Closch domain, was just over a mountain. Their journey was nonetheless quick thanks to the portals that Ciel had ordered to be built.
Before moving, my father hurriedly gathered workers to refurbish the village buildings. My mother distributed small gifts to the existing villagers, making sure they could live well together.
It was a moment that showed why the villagers respected my parents so much. Of course, no one respected them more than I did.
“The mansion is huge, Brother.”
“Indeed.”
I muttered, looking at our new home. David and I were shown around by the existing staff.
“Welcome to your new home.”
“Hmm, are you in charge of managing this place?”
“Yes, I served directly under the late Count.”
“I see.”
The estate we were granted was previously owned by a count’s family, which had no heirs, and was thus reverted to the state after the last owner’s death. Despite showing signs of time, its classic beauty and dignified atmosphere remained intact.
“Brother, look at the color of this brick. It’s fascinating. It looks quite orange.”
“Hmm, yeah. It’s just like the color of your hair, Rin.”
“Huh? My hair isn’t this color, is it?”
“The parts where the sunlight touches look similar.”
“…Really?”
I tilted my head, pondering, and proceeded to walk. Then, David suddenly apologized while walking alongside me.
“Rin, I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
“For abruptly declaring my intention to marry. I ended up messing up your schedule.”
David wasn’t just making empty talk at that moment. Of course, I knew he wasn’t the type to make such statements lightly, but it still intrigued me. So, I asked. I was curious about the person who would become my sister-in-law.
“What did you like about her? Mom said you decided just after a day of meeting her, right?”
David, his ears turning red, slowly replied as if he was recalling that person in his mind.
“Um… At the banquet and because of Luke… It just happened. I ended up helping her, so I took her to the lounge, and it was kind of fun.”
“What was?”
“I didn’t find it difficult to hold the lady, but I started sweating because the suit I was wearing was too tight. Violet misunderstood it as her fault and apologized? She then wiped the sweat off my forehead with her handkerchief, but she didn’t say she wanted to get down from my arms. She kept wiping my sweat while sneakily glancing at me, and, what should I say…”
I listened intently to David’s story. It was an unfamiliar feeling. Was it because it was the first time talking about such matters with my brother? Or because he showed such a tender expression to someone other than our family?
“Did I just want to keep holding her?”
David finished speaking and smiled at me. His gaze seemed to ask, ‘Even if I’m not around, you’ll be okay, right?’ making my heart flutter. I pretended not to notice and turned my head, asking,
“Is that really all? Not because my new sister-in-law is incredibly beautiful?”
“Haha, um… I can’t deny that.”
My brother’s ears reddened again as he turned his head away. His reaction was amusing, so I let out a small laugh.
As we moved to the garden, we found that the mountain was behind the mansion, just like our original home. The mountain adorned with autumn leaves was beautiful, and below it, the vast garden was filled with various types of roses.
Looking forward to the roses that would bloom in summer, we entered the mansion. The new home was really quite perfect.
