My Past Life is Riddled With Many Sins - Chapter 44
During their affair, he moaned and shed tears beautifully, overwhelmed with pleasure. His eyes damp, the deep, husky moans he emitted were incredibly arousing.
“Friedy, don’t you want to look strong in front of me?”
“Do I not appear strong?”
“It’s not that, but usually, men pretend to be strong. They hide their tears from women and endure their moans, even if they’re in agony.”
“I want to show you honestly how much I like you and how I feel. After all, Princess, you are my one and only partner.”
He had said this once at their pillow talk while looking at her with clear eyes. But after reaching a complete disaster, he had stopped crying, kept his mouth shut, and only moved his hips mechanically, a stark contrast to their previous passionate affairs.
Yekarna often reminisced about how he used to cry and moan in a locked voice…
The man was now coaxing her with his body close, tempting her with the promise of showing her the tenderness she had missed so much for if she gave in to temptation.
Regina felt as if her willpower was a thin spider web, ready to snap at the slightest touch.
She clenched her eyes shut and pushed him away. She was driven by a singular thought that she could not repeat the same mistake twice.
He stepped back easily. As she got up from the bed, she felt exhausted as if she had done something monumental and gasped for breath.
“Senior Valen. Can I go now?”
“You haven’t paid the price yet.”
“What? You said if I refused, you wouldn’t touch me…”
“That’s right. So, you’ll have to pay in another way.”
With a fresh reply, he laid down on the bed alone. Regina watched him bewildered as he gestured to her.
“Come and put me to sleep.”
“Excuse me?”
“Stay and watch over me until I fall asleep.”
It was a strange request, and while Regina suspected some trickery, Friedrich’s reincarnation appeared more vulnerable than threatening as he lay there with his eyes closed, seemingly defenseless.
‘As always, Friedrich was an enigma both in the past and present.’
Regina didn’t quite understand his plan, but staying and watching him sleep seemed a safer option than being summoned by Skyler for accruing demerit points. Weighing her options, she reluctantly moved towards him.
“Do you have insomnia or something?”
“No, I sleep fine.”
“Then why do you want me to put you to sleep? You sleep well on your own.”
“I want you to see me sleep. I sleep like an angel.”
….Was Friedrich always such a complicated person? Now bragging about how he slept was something entirely new to Regina, but she sat down on the bed anyway.
“Should I sing you a lullaby?”
“No. Noise keeps me awake, just stay quiet.”
“Alright, then.”
Regina gently stroked his hair with her hand, which he didn’t resist. Soon, his breathing became steady, signaling he had fallen asleep. Regina quietly got up from the bed.
‘He really does look like an angel when he’s asleep.’
After watching him for a moment, she silently made her way out of the room through the window.

“I haven’t even fallen asleep yet, yet you’re leaving again, Your Majesty.”
Yekarna halted her steps as she was stealthily exiting the bedroom, but she did not turn back to Friedrich.
“Who is it tonight? Marquis Kysis? Margrave Linzmeyer? Your favorite Concubine? Concubine Nyx? Concubine Rybnoy? Concubine Batusha?”
“Marquis Kysis is likely up with his work, Margrave Linzmeyer is at the border. My favorite Concubine isn’t even in the palace right now, Concubine Nyx has not yet reached adulthood so I have no intention of touching him, Concubine Rybnoy is busy with research so I have no intention of visiting and disturbing, and with Concubine Batusha….. I’m not involved in the way the Grand Duke think.”
“So you’ve never shared a bed with Concubine Bathusha?”
Yekarna didn’t respond to that question.
“Rest well, Grand Duke.”
Unsure of whatever expression Friedrich might have been making, Yekarna left the bedroom without looking back.

Regina woke from a light sleep, pressing her forehead.
‘Yes. There must be a reason.’
Starting the day by reaffirming Yekarna’s lack of character was certainly a splendid way to begin a fantastic day.
She couldn’t sleep at all last night, so Regina had forced herself to catch a few hours of rest. But she regretted not just staying awake all night.
She walked out of Yekarna Hall with a haggard face.
She wasn’t a complete sword master yet, her body was capable of wielding a mana blade and was not easily tired, so there was no way she was just quiet from the lack of sleep. But rather it was a mental toll.
‘Escape is the answer.’
That was the conclusion she had reached after contemplating all night.
The academy was fundamentally flawed. It wasn’t just one or two, but three former spouses or lovers from past lives here—it was indeed hellish.
The place itself must have been cursed, she thought. A suspicion that should have been confirmed the moment she noticed the Dean was Skyler.
If she realized she was on the wrong path, she knew she needed to turn back immediately. Continuing out of sheer hope was as foolish as it gets.
With that in mind, Regina decided to withdraw from the academy. After all, graduating from the Imperial Academy wasn’t the only path to success.
‘Maybe I’ll earn a living as a mercenary instead.’
Regina was currently attending the academy on a scholarship, but withdrawing meant she had to repay all the benefits she received as the top student—tuition, dormitory fees, and meal costs, with interest.
While this meant she would initially be in debt, the burden didn’t seem too heavy. It wouldn’t take a former swordmaster too long to earn that money back.
