I Think I’m a Horror Game Villain - Chapter 28
Chapter 28
The seeker, who briefly checked the timer, nodded.
<Okay. I’ll listen to you for the next minute. During that time, no one else will hear my voice.>
‘As expected.’
I calmly replied to the seeker.
“My name is Heyna Blanche. What’s your name?”
<There’s no such thing. I’m just the seeker.>
“The seeker is your role, not your name.”
<What’s so important about a name?>
“Of course it’s important. My name is Heyna. The people I was with were Rose, Tommy, and Zion. They all have names.”
<…So what? What do you want me to do?>
The voice that had been excited, like that of a child who had just discovered something new, turned cold. The seeker’s face was distorted in a scary way, as if he was annoyed by hearing something he didn’t want to hear.
My body trembled when I saw the sharp teeth flashing between his parted lips.
My body clearly remembered the sensation of the blade-like teeth piercing my neck. The horror that was replaying in my head stimulated my eyes, and I felt like I was going to burst into tears at any moment.
‘No. Don’t cry. You can’t cry, Heyna.’
Crying won’t solve anything. To escape this terrible nightmare, I can no longer be the cowardly crybaby Heyna.
I blinked my wet eyes repeatedly and held back my tears naturally, trying to act calm.
“I’ll give you a name.”
<What?>
“Your own name.”
<….>
“Don’t you like it?”
The seeker, who had been tilting his head from side to side with a strange expression, answered curtly.
<I’ll listen for now.>
Whew.
With a sigh of relief, I smiled more brightly than ever and said.
“Beff.”
<What? That’s not cool at all.>
“Do you know where the word Beff comes from?”
<I don’t know. What is it?>
“Best friend. It means best friend.”
<….>
“I want to be best friends with you. How about you?”
The seeker didn’t say anything for a while. The mouth that had been torn to the end of his ears was tightly shut. The seeker, who hung his head, kicked the floor with his feet like a sulking child.
<Do you… want to be friends with someone like me, big sis?>
I could feel the seeker’s emotions in the faint trembling of his voice.
‘As I thought.’
This child was just lonely. Trapped in this terrible mansion and playing ‘games’ endlessly, the child had been lonely all this time. Thinking about it that way, the fear that had been gripping my heart completely disappeared.
“Yes.”
<Really?>
“Yes. Really.”
I held out my pinky finger as a sign of promise. The child, who was blankly looking at my hand, slowly raised his hand. A cold pinky finger hooked onto my pinky finger. I didn’t hesitate to fit my thumb and make a stamp.
“Pinky fingers~ Hooked together~”
<We pinky promise.>
I made a promise with the seeker—no, Beff.
Even after the game is over, we will be friends.

“Heyna.”
“Oh, y-yeah?”
“What’s wrong? You’ve been spacing out since earlier…”
Dekir looked at me with concern.
“Oh, no. I’m fine. I guess I didn’t get enough sleep.”
“Really? There’s nothing wrong?”
“Yeah. Of course not!”
I smiled broadly as I swung my clenched fist in the air. Dekir also grinned, watching me.
“If there’s anything wrong with your physical condition, be sure to tell me.”
“Yes. I promise.”
As soon as I said the word ‘promise’, my head throbbed again.
‘Why is this happening since morning, really.’
My head had been aching ever since I opened my eyes. No, to be exact, it wasn’t so much pain as it was a feeling of something filling my head up tightly.
I think I had a dream last night…
It felt like I had a nightmare, and it also felt like I had recalled a happy memory. But when I opened my eyes, I strangely couldn’t remember the contents of the dream at all.
It was as if I had erased it from my head with an eraser.
‘I feel like I’ve forgotten something important.’
I ate the bread Dekir gave me as if nothing was wrong. My headache improved somewhat because my stomach was full.
‘I guess it’s because I’m tired.’
I went to bed late yesterday after checking on things, and my dreams were so vivid that I couldn’t get a good night’s sleep. So, of course, I’d be tired.
‘I have to eat quickly and recover.’
I finished the rest of the bread in one bite and groaned. Rose, who noticed, said, “Here, eat this.”
She offered me half of her remaining bread.
“I usually only eat half for breakfast.”
“Really? Thanks.”
I took half of the bread that Rose gave me.
“Heyna, do you want this too?”
This time, Dekir gave me bread that he hadn’t even touched.
“I don’t really have an appetite in the morning.”
I ended up receiving two pieces of bread, much to my surprise.
‘It’s good to eat a hearty breakfast…’
I couldn’t give them back now.
I had no choice but to finish all the bread in my hands. Dekir and Rose watched me happily. They were like grandmothers watching their granddaughters eat.
