I Grabbed the Tyrant’s Heart - Chapter 247
“This….!”
The Southern Emperor was frustrated. He shook the white chain he was holding violently, causing the fire dragon to stir.
Kwoooaah!
The dragon shook its body in apparent agony and opened its mouth, but I quickly thrust my weapon into its snout again.
Boom!
Finally, the fire dragon’s mouth was half-buried in the ground. The flames it was about to spew fizzled out, vanishing as they hit the earth.
I landed on the earth dragon, which was still in the air.
The familiar magical energy of the green-bodied dragon didn’t take long to place. I recalled where I’d seen this dragon before.
Hils, the dragon I saw in Count Daidi’s territory.
Why is this dragon here, instead of hiding in the mountains like before?
“Euel, marry me. Choose me, not that damn devil contractor.”
The Southern Emperor, still babbling about how I was of noble blood and a half-elf, couldn’t seem to accept that I had escaped.
He’s still not in his right mind.
“If it’s our child, it would be perfect.”
“A child? What nonsense.”
Tess laughed as though it was all a joke. He added further explanation.
“That guy’s reproductive system is damaged.”
“Huh?”
“It seems like what he had to exchange for coming to Alin was that.”
The God of Light certainly doesn’t show much mercy.
“What about the heir? Isn’t the bloodline an issue there too?”
“There are collateral branches. He killed off most of them, but maybe one of the direct descendants survived. Lux can choose one of them.”
“Shut up, filthy devil contractor!”
“What’s the difference between a devil and a god pretending to be pure?”
Tess let out a soft laugh. Then he whispered near my ear.
“How tragic must it be for him to realize that he can’t leave behind any of his precious bloodline? Meanwhile, he’s pretending to want a child, clearly avoiding reality.”
The Southern Emperor had done wrong, but Tess, whispering so obviously for me to hear, felt like a devil.
“Is it God’s will that he should remain pure in body and mind, so he cannot indulge in women?”
“This, this, punk!”
“Well, before paying the price to the god, he lived recklessly. If he didn’t have children, it’s obvious there were problems from the start, isn’t it? Fortunately, he lost something useless as the price.”
Tess mocked him in a very calm and graceful tone, and the Southern Emperor’s face, as still as a marble statue, turned bright red.
“What else did you lose? You didn’t have authority over the dragon.”
Yes, it’s strange.
Controlling a dragon takes more power than simply killing it.
“Or did you take someone’s life to gain this power?”
“I am the noble Southern Emperor. Anyone should offer their power for me, for I have received the divinity!”
Good grief, could he have sacrificed someone to gain such power?
The fire dragon, now regaining its senses, raised its head and flew up again. Tess threw a small blue stone he had in his hand at the dragon.
Boom!
What caused such an intense explosion?
“The Kirapt Heart.”
“…What?”
The Kirapt is a high-level monster, but could its heart explode this much?
“I did some work on it.”
Seeming to read my question, Tess smiled and then charged toward the Southern Emperor. The contrast between the all-black Tess and the white Emperor looked like a battle between black and white.
The Southern Emperor, holding the white chain, focused on defense while using magic to seal off the situation.
Crack, crack.
Sparks flew through the air. Occasionally, flames sparked, and the wind near the two of them blew in a direction opposite to the rest of the surroundings.
I couldn’t even begin to estimate how much power was being exchanged. However, since they were on similar levels, it would be hard for Tess to take him down by himself.
I was about to rush toward the Emperor, but the fire dragon approached with blood dripping from its mouth, opening it wide.
“Damn.”
Trying to avoid the red dragon, I fell off the green dragon.
“Haha!”
It seemed the Southern Emperor had been waiting for this moment as he increased his altitude.
“Euseniel!”
I signaled to Tess that I was fine.
It seems like killing the dragon is the only way. I wanted to avoid it as much as possible, but it seemed unavoidable. I gathered magical power into my sword as I fell and made eye contact with the dragon.
“Hey, you stupid dragon—”
I wanted to scold it for breaking the rules just because it hated the devil, but I couldn’t. The dragon’s eyes were clouded, like those of a soldier from the Southern Empire.
It was strange, and I didn’t even notice the ground getting closer until I nearly plunged into it. Ugh.
Before the embarrassing incident could happen, I teleported behind the Southern Emperor and slashed horizontally with my sword. He sensed my movement and quickly turned around in surprise.
Clang!
He blocked my sword with the white chain he was holding and hastily retreated.
“Magic!”
Realizing what I was hiding, the Southern Emperor shouted in frustration, shaking the white chains in his hands wildly. The two dragons roared, their massive bodies flipping backward.
“What…!”
“Haha!”
Watching me and Tess fall, the Southern Emperor directed the dragons toward the Great River.
“Retreat! Retreat!”
Tess wrapped his arms around my waist and moved us to the castle. In the distance, the order to retreat could be heard.
The damage caused by the dragons was significant, and General Panet was concerned.
“If we can’t deal with the dragons, our side will be in danger. And to think the dragons got involved…”
“Excuse me, I need to step out for a moment.”
Since he said he was headed toward the border, I knew Ber was likely nearby. I needed to ask him if it was okay for the dragons to join the battle.
“Is it alright if I ask about—”
Bang.
The door suddenly burst open, but I relaxed my tense body as I sensed the familiar magical energy.
“Intruder!”
The knights on guard, startled, drew their swords, but Tess gestured for them to stop.
“Let me see, Euel.”
It made sense— the visitor who had come for me was the one I was going to meet.
