Chapter 9.1
“Why?”
“I like this place.”
Embarrassed, Lloyd persuaded Asher.
“Young Master. If you go to the Capital, it will be much better than it is now. You’ll have lots of delicious food and toys.”
“Is that all you have to do to convince the heir to the Winterville family?”
“Even if he’s a successor, isn’t he still a child? There’s no better way of convincing than this.”
As Lloyd said, his persuasion worked for Asher. The child swallowed his saliva as if he had imagined something before he soon shook his head.
“I can get my favorite hot chocolate here, can’t I, sister April?”
“Huh? Uh…that’s true.”
April was stuck in the middle, unable to do anything.
‘…There’s nothing I can do here.’
As she already said, she was a third party in this matter. Even though she respected Asher’s opinion and could handle things, she wasn’t in a position to impose her opinion on him.
Just then, the door to the cafe opened, and Sarah and a middle-aged man walked in.
When Asher saw the man, he was frightened and hurriedly bowed down.
“Lo, lord!”
Seeing that, Claude’s eyebrows went up crookedly.
“Has a Winterville bowed to a mere baron now?”
It was the lord who reacted to the words as he rushed over and helped Asher to his feet.
“Prince*, you must not do this to me.”
[ T/N: The title ‘prince’ here doesn’t actually mean an imperial/a royal prince but ‘son of the duke, or prince of the ducal.’ ]
“But…”
“That’s right, Asher. You can’t do that.”
Adding her words after the lord, Sarah shrugged, squaring her shoulders as if she were a noblewoman.
“You’re Asher Winterville now. No one can mess with you.”
“But aunt…”
As the child shuddered, Sarah patted Asher on the back as if she was dissatisfied. Contrary to her words, she didn’t treat him like an aristocrat.
Claude’s gaze turned to her.
“And you?”
Only then did Sarah, as if mimicking aristocratic etiquette, gently hold her skirt with both hands and bow her waist.
“I’m Asher’s aunt, Sarah. I’m his only family.”
As the word ‘only’ was uttered with strength, her thoughts were clearly visible.
‘She’s thinking of winning the money.’
However, Sarah had bigger dreams than April realized.
“Asher is anxious without me, his only family member, that he doesn’t sleep well. It bothers me to send such a child alone to the Winterville family. If you don’t mind, I’d like to go with you…”
April was dumbfounded.
‘…Didn’t she just abandon him to me?’
She was even the kind of person who didn’t show her face for two days after leaving Asher with her. Meanwhile, Claude interrupted, expressing his doubts.
“Did someone like that leave a child here and disappear?”
“That’s!”
Sarah’s face flushed red at the remark.
“I just dropped him off while I went to work.”
“Really?”
Instead of answering, April only shrugged her shoulders. She didn’t want to do anything nice for Sarah.
‘Besides, it might be better for Asher without Sarah.’
Claude seemed to be thinking the same thing as well as he uttered in a low voice.
“I’m only taking my nephew.”
“But—!”
“If he can’t adapt to this level, he doesn’t belong in Winterville.”
For some reason, the conversation seemed to be heading in the direction that Asher would be leaving. April grew nervous. No matter how much she thought about it, she didn’t think Asher, with his hand on her skirt, was going to follow Claude.
“Well, shouldn’t we listen to Asher’s opinion?”
“What are you talking about?! Of course, he’s going!”
Sarah exclaimed ferociously. It seemed that she didn’t want to miss out on being the aunt of the Prince of Winterville.
“Even so, the child’s opinion is the most important. Now, Asher, what do you think?”
Asher opened his mouth though the child’s silence was longer than she thought. Still, April was willing to wait for him. After a while, he shouted, clenching his two small fists as if he had made up his mind on something.
“I’ll live here with sister April!”

Even though she roasted beans her best, the cafe, which had been crowded with customers since the morning, only had flies flying inside again.
The reason was simple… it was because of Claude, who was sitting with his arms crossed in the middle of the cafe. Sitting with his long legs crossed, and even though it wasn’t in a special position, he gave off a strangely unapproachable feeling.
Glancing at him, April thought of a nimble jaguar.
As if that was the case with other people as well, even when the villagers came inside, they saw Claude and ran away as if they had committed a crime.
‘What is he doing here? If he keeps doing this, the customers who come will never come again!’
Eventually, she mustered up the courage to approach Claude.
