You, Who's Kind Only To Me - Chapter 11
Crack-
With a sharp sound, the sword plunged into the center of the skull that had been lying there.
Crush!
It split cleanly in half.
“The sea…..”
One of the knights lowered the sword he had been holding, and the fog that had covered the area where the light had passed began to dissipate slowly. The surroundings, bathed in crimson light, were now completely scorched.
In the distance, the blue sea came into view.
“Your Excellency, are you alri…?”
The knight commander, who had been approaching Lucas, hastily swung his sword when he saw the darkness beneath the Duke’s feet rising up. However, this time, the darkness was faster.
The darkness, hit by the aura, tore apart into shreds and swallowed the Duke. Although the deafening sound had ceased, the man, who had been shutting his eyes tightly against the growing chant, slowly opened his eyes.
Shaaaa–.
The sound of the waves could be heard nearby.
‘Is it spatial distortion?’
This was the challenge with magical creatures. Even if they looked similar, their characteristics varied greatly…
If there had been a murderous intent, Lucas himself would have noticed the darkness first. However, this time, the darkness had no particular distinguishing features other than tearing through space. He checked his own condition and surveyed the surroundings.
A lonely beach. It felt desolate and lonely.
Rather than a vibrant blue sea, it was more like a bleak and dark space drained of all life force, a lifeless void.
Lucas began to touch the salt particles that had accumulated on the beach when a strong wind blew behind him. His hair fluttered in the wind. He turned his gaze in the direction where the wind was blowing.
Whooo—
A roar resembling the cry of a giant beast awakened the lifeless sea. As the dark sea rose, foamy waves crashed, and beneath the water’s surface, countless faint afterimages were breaking into small pieces.
Cruel, ferocious….. the sound that instinctively sent shivers down one’s spine.
A sound reminiscent of an old sea turtle or a wounded crocodile echoed relentlessly with the incoming tide.
Coming directly from the ocean.
With a firm expression, Lucas raised his hand to the hilt of his sword when he suddenly noticed a peculiar sight within his view.
There, on the abandoned shoreline, stood a single, strangely bare tree.
It appeared frail and thin, as if it could snap at any moment, with no signs of life. He noticed some pink strings swaying behind the trunk and he let go of the handle of his sword.
‘A person?’
He wondered what a person was doing here in this remote place. He observed for a moment…
[No… Someone, please…]
[Save me.]
He heard a voice.
“…..!”
The owner of the haunting melody that had been echoing in this place.
Lucas couldn’t explain why, but it was a compelling impulse that led him to rush towards the unfamiliar presence.
Without even realizing it himself, he found himself running towards the woman whose arm was chained and being dragged into the sea.
Or rather, it would be more accurate to say she was being swallowed by the ocean. The dark sea growled as if it were laughing. The moonlight reflected on the water in a bizarre way.
In a fleeting moment, he reached out his hand without time to think.
Clank!
He grabbed the rough chain that was wrapped around her tightly, pulling it with all his strength. The thick seawater clung to his legs, aggressively trying to drag him in too. But he managed to plant himself firmly on the sand.
“–Excuse me for a moment.”
Lucas said as he noticed the woman’s arms, reddened from the chain’s strain. He wrapped his arm around her waist to provide more stability. As he pulled her closer in a more secure embrace, he felt her small body trembling.
“A living sacrifice…..”
He looked down at the fragile doll-like woman shivering in his arms, his gaze deepening.
“It’s clearly a violation of imperial law.”
His crimson eyes glinted dangerously.
The black sea,
The descending sun,
The sinking body…
And a lost stranger.
.
.
.
She often felt like a buoy drifting on the boundless sea, especially when observing the starry night sky or gazing at the colorful auroras illuminating the sky.
Amidst the black waves, deep blue light seeped through her tangled pink hair. The pearls she had held in her hands slipped away, bouncing and disappearing into the sea, leaving only a single white shell in her palms.
And as always, Ren descended deep into the deep sea.
Towards the unfathomable depths of the ocean, where not a single ray of light reached, she listened to the whispers of an unfamiliar language.
Bubbles escaped from her lips, but she felt no discomfort. She was safe, like a fetus nestled in the womb, and the ocean was always warm and tender.
She was free.
‘Ah-’
As she opened her mouth, she felt a strange sensation, as if the words were not her own.
‘Will you like to listen?’
Someone whispered gently in a familiar, warm voice.
Ren hesitated for a while but eventually reached out to grasp a floating melody on the surface of the waves, releasing the first note. A playful laughter resounded, and she felt a joyful thrill in her racing heart.
[Whoooo……]
But as always, this dream would end when she faced the ruler of the deep sea.
She sensed that something immense was watching her. The once gentle sea grew turbulent, and she clasped her throat with both hands, writhing in agony.
She can’t breathe……
A single tear, like a pristine pearl, rolled down her cheek. She suffered as her body was forcefully expelled from the depths towards the surface.
She awoke, just like any other time, with her usual awareness.
“Are you awake?”
A voice with a soft tone spoke near Ren’s head, as she gasped for air like a gilled creature being pulled forcefully onto dry land from the water.
