Time-Limited Saintess, You've Been Caught by the Tyrant Once Again - Chapter 73
Chapter 37.1
Ellin quickly corrected herself. She subconsciously mentioned the age she died. It was an obviously suspicious answer.
She glanced at Arkan with a pale face.
“You’re not lying about your age, are you?”
“No, I’m eighteen.”
As she spoke with forcefully, Arkan narrowed his eyes.
“You’re a lot younger than I thought.”
It was true. Ellin was surprisingly young, enough to astonish him.
Despite only a five-year age gap… twenty-five would have been more believable. Her mannerisms and gaze appeared mature. But then again, if he looked at her, she seemed to be eighteen. Her gaze didn’t reflect twenty-five, but more like fifty-five, yet her cheeks were slightly chubby, and there were still youthful corners to her face.
So young, so detached from the world?
Slavery was a truly terrible system.
Arkan once again pledged to eradicate the institution of slavery and those who were involved in it.

“Come this way!”
Melissa took Ellin’s hand and led her.
It seemed to be Ellin’s first time properly exploring the capital, so she was bustling around, taking in everything around her. Though she had lived in the capital for decades, she had never roamed so freely before.
“How much did His Majesty give you?”
“I’m not sure because he just handed it to me in a pouch.”
“Let’s take a look.”
As Melissa opened the money pouch, a bright yellow light flashed. It was all gold coins.
Ellin’s face turned pale.
“I-Is it okay to receive this much money?”
“You saved Her Highness the Princess. And you’re her governess, so you’ll be paid that much.”
Melissa tried to appear composed as she casually spoke, though sweat trickled down her back. If a governess received such money, she could’ve bought a house in the capital within a year!
“But having this much money… it could lead to big trouble.”
“Trouble?”
Ellin asked, puzzled.
“Yes, of course. If you carry this kind of money around, at the least, you’ll be pickpocketed and, at worst, robbed and murdered.”
“Oh my God!”
“Are you truly from a noble family?”
“No, I’m a commoner!”
“….”
“I really am. I worked at an inn.”
Even at her words, Melissa glanced at her with a hint of suspicion. It didn’t seem like Ellin was ignorant of the value of money, so why was she unaware of the security situation? Just as she glanced around and pondered, she noticed several men. Their faces were familiar; they were undoubtedly knights of the imperial palace.
Ah, those people were hiding around Ellin, protecting her.
While it was a bit bothersome to be under surveillance, it seemed there was no need to worry about security.
“Well then, let’s eat first.”
The capital city was naturally much more developed than the city she was in. Restaurants were also divided into restaurants that were exclusive to nobles and those accessible to the middle-upper class.
“Can we really go to such a beautiful place?”
“Yes, of course.”
The restaurant Melissa led her to was known for its great atmosphere in that area. It was a place filled with a quaint sparkle rather than a luxurious feel.
Still, Ellin was quite satisfied with this place.
When she was at the inn, she managed her meals there, and so she hesitated to come to such places, fearing they might be expensive. Surprisingly, the price of the meal wasn’t too high.
Ellin smiled brightly while eating.
“It’s delicious!”
“Isn’t it? The sausages here are really good!”
“Yes.”
The food was also plated in the shapes of animals, which was cute. Although it didn’t compare to the luxurious taste she had experienced in the palace, she still preferred this meal.
“Shouldn’t those people over there eat too?”
“They’ll eat on their own.”
Ellin glanced worriedly at the knights who were watching over them.
“As I said last time, I’ll buy today’s meal.”
Melissa smiled and happily paid the money.
Wow, it was the first time someone had bought her a meal like this. Ellin’s heart fluttered.
Then, after eating their fill, they went to buy clothes.
“Ellin. You look better in lighter colors than dark pink.”
“Really?”
“Yes. So, I don’t think this kind of dark-colored clothing really suits you except for green.”
She had never been to a store like this before because the lady would always bring her clothes when she worked at the inn. And when she was at the temple, frugality was important, so she only wore what she had.
The store, displaying such gorgeous clothes that one might mistake it for a place selling dresses, surprisingly catered to commoners.
Melissa carefully had Ellin try on the clothes
She meticulously advised her on which colors suited her best and which neckline complemented her well.
“Let me try on some too.”
This time, Melissa changed into clothes as well. Ellin despaired as she realized that she had no sense of aesthetics.
In the end, she bought and paid for some clothes that Melissa thought looked good on her. It wasn’t that she hadn’t done any financial transactions, but for some reason, today felt special. She successfully completed her shopping by purchasing delicious food, pretty clothes, a shoe store, a ribbon store, and finally, buying hair dye.
“Wow, I feel like I’ve become a proper citizen now.”
Truly, she was just an ordinary person in this moment, the kind of ordinary person she had envied so much. That was why it felt like tears were about to fall. Even when she worked at the inn, she had never enjoyed the world with this feeling of ease. She was afraid of buying clothes, so she wore the ones the lady gave her, and since food was provided at the inn, she used to eat there.
“I’m glad I came to the Imperial Palace. I got to meet Melissa.”
As Ellin smiled brightly, a wave of guilt surged through Melissa’s heart.
“Aren’t you going back to the temple?”
As she asked carefully with a worried expression, the smile on Ellin’s face disappeared.
Melissa realized her mistake.
