Time-Limited Saintess, You've Been Caught by the Tyrant Once Again - Chapter 27
Chapter 14.1
Liliana hated Ellin, or rather, Elena.
She wanted to live without seeing her face anymore, so Ellin appearing in front of her again only made her dislike her even more. The mere presence of her, who was this commoner, to be associated with Angelias and put on a pretentious facade in their midst only intensified Liliana’s disdain for her.
‘Why is she so arrogant?’
Liliana pondered, unable to comprehend the sudden change in Elena’s behavior. Gone was the fear that once filled her eyes whenever Liliana ridiculed her. Now, Elena looked at her with a calm and disdainful gaze as if silently observing and judging her every move. The calmness in her eyes grated on Liliana’s nerves.
There was no overt animosity between them, yet it felt like Elena was constantly looking down on her, belittling her with that indifferent face.
It was the same with today’s performance… She couldn’t help but suspect that Elena had employed cunning tricks to garner more attention and receive a greater number of flowers than she did. As a result of that, the humiliation of being overshadowed and outshined only intensified Liliana’s enmity towards her.
It seemed like Ellin foolishly believed that being a saint meant that she wasn’t allowed to express anger or frustration, and that was why she acted so arrogantly in front of her like that.
‘Deceitful.’
Liliana gritted her teeth as the realization of Ellin’s presence was unbearable to her.
In addition, she didn’t know what Ellin did, but it was exasperating that High Priest Erich cared about her. Despite her own stunning beauty, she had made numerous attempts to win the heart of Erich, a prominent figure in the temple. However, each time she approached him, he turned her away with cold indifference.
While the Pope and other priests held her in high regard and admired her, she gradually realized that Erich was an exception.
‘Why doesn’t he recognize me as the Saint?’
Liliana couldn’t help but question, even though she was initially captivated by Erich’s appearance from the first moment she laid eyes on him.
He stood out among the older priests, radiating a youthful charm that was hard to resist. Yet, he would occasionally give her a sly smirk and mutter subtle lines that seemed to criticize her. Moreover, he even purposely avoided spending time with her, further deepening her frustration. What bothered her the most was how dismissive Erich was towards her, the Saint, while showing kindness and favoritism towards Ellin, a mere commoner.
It must be this favoritism that fueled Ellin’s arrogant behavior as if she believed she could get away with anything.
“…Yes, I’ve been patient for a long time.”
She couldn’t bear to see Ellin continuously taking what rightfully belonged to her and then putting on a mischievous facade, pretending as though it wasn’t what she desired. It wasn’t merely a sense of struggle that drove Liliana but a deep-rooted vigilance and anxiety about having her position usurped.
“Lisa.”
“Yes, Young Lady.”
“I need to get rid of that insolent thing. Call Sir Paul.”
Even in her saintly guise, Liliana could torment Ellin as much as she wanted. After all, everyone in the temple, except Erich, was on her side. Who could possibly stand in her way?
The only woman that all women in this country couldn’t imitate, even if they wanted to, was the Saint. She embodied the essence of the Saint, a revered figure who commanded respect and admiration. Even the Emperor himself coming to see her, although she remained oblivious to his true identity. All she knew was that it was someone significant who supported her.
‘Okay, let’s do that.’
A broad smile formed on her lips.
