The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 87
Chapter 87
“Do crepe even come in different flavors? Like… maybe two, like skewers?”
“There’s a much wider variety than that.”
“Hmm. Interesting.”
“Would you like to see and choose for yourself?”
“Yes. Let’s do that.” Leybid replied nonchalantly and strode towards the stall. Moments later, he found himself facing twenty different crepes, utterly bewildered. He hadn’t realized until he was practically at the stall that crepes were thin pastries filled with various ingredients.
It was only natural, because he’d impulsively declared he wanted one without knowing what they were. The sheer variety, from fruit to meat, made his head spin. He couldn’t believe such a small stall offered so many options.
“Hurry up and choose. There are people waiting behind you.” Arlenrose prompted him, her tone laced with impatience as Leybid stood mesmerized by the colorful display. She and Camin had already made their selections.
“I’ll have this one.” Leybid’s finger landed on a crepe, his choice made more out of necessity than desire.
Soon, the three of them emerged, each holding a crepe: strawberry cream for Leybid, banana chocolate for Camin, and chicken and cheese for Arlenrose. The only savory crepe was, predictably, Arlenrose’s.
“Meat again?” Leybid asked with a grimace as they sat together on a bench. Arlenrose responded indifferently.
“I like meat. I don’t like sweets.”
“Hmm…”
‘She dislikes and avoids sweets, yet she exudes such sweetness.’
Leybid wanted to tease her, but Camin’s presence kept him silent. Instead, he bravely took a large bite of his strawberry crepe. The thin pancake, filled with cream and studded with strawberries, filled his mouth. The taste was nowhere near as good as the ones he’d had back in the imperial palace. The pancake was bland and tasted of flour, the cream was oily and heavy, and the strawberries were mushy, sour, and not the least bit sweet.
“Hmm, not bad at all.” Leybid tried to sound casual, but Arlenrose wasn’t fooled.
“Don’t lie.”
“Ah… Was it that obvious?”
“Completely.”
Arlenrose sighed, looking at the half-eaten crepe.
“Why did you even want to try it in the first place?”
‘Because eating this monstrosity has made you acknowledge me. It’s the only way I’ve gotten you to stop ignoring me.’
Instead of voicing his thoughts, Leybid simply smiled.
“Just because.”
“Well, I suppose Your Highness isn’t known for a lack of curiosity.” Arlenrose conceded with a shrug, then took a bite of her own crepe, savoring it with genuine enjoyment.
‘She’s royalty too, so she must have grown up with fine dining, just like me. How can she possibly find that so delicious?’
Leybid stared blankly as she chewed, her cheeks puffed out. Only after she finished and brushed her hands together did she notice Leybid’s barely touched crepe.
“You haven’t eaten any more? Is it really that bad?”
“No, it’s just…”
“Oh dear, it seems it doesn’t suit your refined palate. You truly are a prince raised in a greenhouse. I told you so, but you insisted on trying it.” Her words felt deliberately provocative.
Stung, Leybid retorted, “That’s not it. I’m eating it. I can finish it.”
“Then by all means, go ahead.”
