The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 86
Chapter 86
Unlike himself.
A sudden surge of emotion tightened Leybid’s fist. He had thought it would be fun to come outside, but it wasn’t fun at all. For it to be fun, he should have been in Camin’s place, enjoying Arlenrose’s company while Camin trailed behind like an afterthought. Instead, he was the afterthought.
He had ended up doing them a favor. Frustration gnawed at him. His usual impulse would be to brazenly insert himself between them, disrupting their harmony, but his annoyance was so intense that he didn’t want to. It would only worsen his mood.
Leybid realized something he hadn’t acknowledged before: he hadn’t simply wanted to come outside. If that were the case, he would have been content simply to be out, regardless of what he saw. He should have been satisfied with seeing the differences between the kingdom’s villages and the Empire’s.
The truth was, he wanted to be outside with Arlenrose. Their interactions were usually limited to bickering and physical intimacy, and he had wanted to experience something different with her.
Something other than their still-novel physical relationship. What else could that be?
It was a date. What he truly wanted was a date with Arlenrose.
‘…Ha.’
Realizing this, Leybid drew a sharp breath. A date? Why did he want something so trivial? He didn’t know, but the reason didn’t matter. If he wanted something, he had to get it. That was his unwavering life philosophy.
With newfound resolve, Rayvid hardened his expression. He made a momentous decision and declared, “I’ll have a crepe too.”
“…What?”
Arlenrose and Camin, about to head towards the crepe stall, turned to him in unison.
“You said you didn’t like street food. Are you sure about the crepe?” Arlenrose asked, puzzled by his sudden change of heart. Leybid clenched his fist resolutely.
“Yes. Since we’re here, I should try this kind of experience.”
“Hmm…” Arlenrose frowned slightly, studying him. His tone and expression were unnecessarily serious. Did buying street food require such a significant decision for him?
“You don’t have to force yourself.”
“I’m not. I just want to eat one. It looks delicious. The more I look at it, the more delicious it looks.”
“I can’t be held responsible if you get sick after eating it.”
“Why would I ask you to take responsibility? I’m not so weak that I’ll get sick from a single crepe, but even if I did, I wouldn’t ask you to be responsible, so don’t worry.”
“Of course.” Arlenrose nodded, looking directly at him. “Let’s be clear. Your Highness is eating that crepe entirely of your own volition. We not only didn’t encourage you, we tried to dissuade you, but you insisted on trying it. Please make sure you say that, so the delegation doesn’t find fault with us. Understood?”
“…Ugh.” Leybid’s lips pressed together in a flash of hurt. Her words, devoid of any concern for his well-being and focused solely on diplomatic worries, stung.
Her coldness was usually something he found amusing, even enjoyable. Why did it feel so different now? It was probably because of Camin standing right there, a stark comparison. If he were in his situation, Arlenrose’s attitude would be completely different.
‘But Camin and I are different, so it can’t be helped.’
Shaking off the negative feelings, Leybid lifted his chin.
“Yes, I really want to try this… crepe.”
His tone was as solemn as a general marching into battle. Unfazed, Arlenrose asked indifferently, “Fine. What flavor do you want?”
