The Obsessive Male Lead Is Jealous Of My Doll - Chapter 1 — Prologuue
Prologue
As the dazzling sunlight poured down and the wind gently rustled, it was a day perfect for sipping tea.
Karentina gulped down dry saliva as she felt the man’s gaze fixed on her with his chin resting on his hand as if he could devour her.
“Your Highness the Crown Prince.”
Ignis chuckled with a subtle expression, removing his hand from his chin.
“Karentina.”
His deep voice tickled her ear like a sweet melody. Contrary to the corners of his lips that curved up gently, his strangely twisted eyes fell coldly.
“You used the wrong title. You should call me by my name.”
“But, this is Your Highness’s back garden, isn’t it?”
“You can’t be so complacent in the middle of the enemy territory. You never know where the little rats might be.”
Leaning his body towards her, he whispered in a seductive tone.
Karentina sighed softly as she looked at him like that. As a transcendent, there was no way he couldn’t sense people’s presence, but there was nothing wrong with being cautious.
“Ignis.”
When she called his name, his red eyes shimmered beautifully as he smiled contentedly like a satisfied cat. As Ignis’s golden hair swayed in the breeze, his vivid and deep scarlet eyes were filled with nothing but herself.
Karentina, captivated by his handsome appearance, pinched her thigh to snap out of it.
‘I must not fall for that face again!’
“Ignis, there’s something I want to talk to you about today.”
Her heart tightened under his penetrating gaze.
“We’re ending our contractual engagement.”
As soon as Karentina finishes speaking, the temperature around her suddenly drops as if frozen.
“What… ending?”
A mocking chuckle flowed from Ignis’s lips as if he had heard something unbelievable as he tapped the teacup lightly with his slender fingers. Despite a chill running down her spine because of the look in his bright eyes, she couldn’t back down.
“Our engagement. We were originally business partners since we have mutual interests, right?”
“So?”
Finally, as if Ignis was about to comply with her request, Karentina’s words picked up speed.
Karentina’s words picked up speed as if she thought that Ignis was willing to grant her request.
“You promised me. You made a promise to me. Your Highness…”
“Ignis.”
‘No. Does this obsessive male lead have a fixated obsession with his name, too?’
Karentina clenched her teeth and continued her words.
“…Ignis, you said that if you regained control of the imperial palace, you’d break off our engagement and arrange a marriage with a lady from a neutral faction, right?”
It was a condition that wouldn’t apply to herself, who was one of the only two great duchies in the empire.
At her words, the expression on Ignis’s face slowly faded as if the memory of the past had come to mind.
“Now that both of us are ready, it’s only right to settle our relationship this way. Otherwise, Your Highness… no, Ignis, there’s already been quite a spectacular rumor about us, and it’s put me in a rather awkward position.”
His body visibly twitched as though there was something pricking at him.
“If you break off your engagement with me, who do you think you’re going to meet? Marquis Delcades? Or Knight Verridale? Surely, you wouldn’t be considering that b*stard at the temple, would you?”
Didn’t Marquis Delcades and Sir Verridale quietly withdraw to their territories? And that b*stard at the temple… could it possibly be Pope Leonius?
“I’m better than them.”
Just as Karentina was pounding her chest inwardly, frustrated with the conversation that was swirling around like a whirlwind, all of a sudden, Princess Stella was seen walking towards them from a distance, holding Zion’s hand.
As her gaze involuntarily shifted in that direction, a spark ignited in Ignis’s eyes.
“Could it be him? Your doll.”
“No, it’s not!”
Couldn’t believe his words, she let out a dry laugh.
It was then.
Ignis rose from his seat and approached her, kneeling down on one knee in front of her.
“Did you say you like b*stards?”
“Ba-b*stards… I meant ‘big dog!’ People will misunderstand me if you keep twisting my words like that. I simply meant I like a sweet and caring guy who only has eyes for me.”
Karentina cried and vented her frustration.
“Whether it’s a big dog or whatever.”
“Yes?”
“I’ll be an obedient dog that listens well, so stay by my side.”
Her breath caught in her throat at Ignis’s devouring gaze.
‘I just twisted the original story to survive, but now, it seems like everything’s going wrong…’
Karentina stared blankly into the eyes of the obsessed male lead, which were curving subtly. Thinking back on where things had gone wrong, she recalled the memory of the day she first transmigrated into this novel.
