“I will have to return to the capital tomorrow. But before that, I wanted to spend more time with you.”
Radis sighed.
“But you’ve been so busy, haven’t you, Your Highness? Everyone wanted to meet you, so it turned out this way. You must have wanted to relax in the south…”
Radis examined his face from various angles.
His complexion was pale, and he seemed even more relaxed than before coming to Loire.
It was understandable.
During his stay in Loire, Yves Russell’s schedule for him had been almost murderous.
Radis couldn’t understand why his schedule had become like this when it wasn’t originally supposed to be this hectic.
Olivier chuckled and answered,
“Marquis Russell is a more ambitious man than I expected. I’m already worried about whether I’d be able to give him everything he wants.”
Radis furrowed her brows and let out a deep sigh.
“I apologize. I think the Marquis was a bit too enthusiastic because he was pleased that Your Highness came to the south. Perhaps he didn’t have any ill intentions…”
“Well…”
Olivier trailed off, lost in thought.
“He’s quite an ambitious man. I’m sure he had some well-thought-out intentions in this matter as well.”
Radis was so embarrassed because of Yves that her cheeks turned completely red.
‘Marquis, you’re seriously going too far. No matter how much you want to be a duke, treating such a fragile person so harshly…’
Radis felt so sorry for Olivier that she wanted to hug him and comfort him.
Perhaps he sensed her feelings, as Olivier smiled and said,
“I’m fine.”
Upon hearing those words, Radis felt tears welling up.
She made up her mind silently.
‘Yves Russell, I won’t let you get away with this.’
At that moment, Olivier held her hand quietly and said,
“Radis, do you know where we are?”
His words prompted her to awaken from her thoughts, and she looked around.
As the clouds parted, silvery moonlight poured down from above their heads. In the scenery illuminated by the moonlight, Radis realized that she had been to this place before.
“This is…”
Between the main mansion and the guesthouse of the marquis’s manor, amidst the marble columns of the arcade that crossed the inner garden, Olivier spoke.
“This is where we first met.”
As memories of that day resurfaced, Radis’s cheeks turned crimson.
“I-It’s here?”
She turned away from Olivier to hide her flushed face and pretended to look around.
“It kind of feels like it is and it kind of doesn’t…”
The day they first met, Olivier was as dazzlingly beautiful as he was now. But what about her?
Radis had to exert all her strength to avoid conjuring up the image of herself sprawled on the ground in this beautiful garden like a frog.
Then, Olivier stepped towards her from behind.
“Radis.”
His mellifluous voice echoed in her ear.
“Don’t turn your back on me like that.”
Olivier’s arms slowly wrapped around her shoulders.
Radis stiffened like one of the marble columns in the arcade, taken aback by the surprise.
She could feel Olivier’s breath gently brushing against her neck as he leaned his cheek closer.
Every detail of his face, from his smooth forehead to his elegant nose, was vividly conveyed to her sensitive skin.
Even the tenderness he had shown when he first looked for her, his plump lips…
“Radis…”
A deep, resonating voice echoed in her ear.
“If I were to say… that I’ve wanted to do this, to be like this with you, for a long time… Would you get angry?”
His voice, always low and cool, was now trembling as if he were a man suffering from a fever.
He seemed strangely engulfed in intense emotions, yet even in such moments, his touch was gentle.
He held her delicately, as though she was a fragile flower that would be crushed if squeezed too tightly.
Yet, an odd discomfort crept over her.
Suddenly, she had a thought.
‘It’s not supposed to be these hands …’
She didn’t know which hand it should belong to, but the feeling of unease compelled Radis to hastily release herself from Olivier.
“Lord Olivier…!”
Her voice quivered, as if she were a startled duck. Flustered, she tried to clear her throat.
At that moment, Olivier’s hand touched her face.
“Radis.”
He gently brushed her face with his fingertips, as if admiring a piece of art.
Then, he gently took hold of her chin and tilted her head up.
“Shh. Just listen to me for now.”
As their eyes met, Radis felt her breath catch in her throat.
How could a grown man have such an expression?
Beneath his long, silver eyelashes, his violet irises sparkled with passion.
His eyes were shadowed with intensity, while a pure, innocent smile graced his lips.
He slightly lowered his head, and Radis could feel his warm breath on her forehead.
“Radis.”
His lips lightly brushed against her forehead as he spoke.
With his lips against her forehead, he confessed.
“Radis… I love you.”
