Savage Forest - Chapter 114.1
“Crazy…!”
Fiarca cursed and immediately assumed a battle stance at the sudden turn of events. The skull spider was descending rapidly along its web.
There was only one direction.
The skull spider was coming straight for Enya.
There was no time left to do anything against the frenziedly fast-moving monster. Suddenly, a tremendous noise erupted. The ground shook as if an earthquake had struck, and sparks flew like thunder and lightning in front of their eyes. The wolf began to bark furiously.
Senu had set one of their weapons on fire.
The noise was so deafening it seemed like the forest itself might take off, with birds flying away and monkeys screeching. Trees splintered, and the web was torn to shreds. The skull spider hesitated momentarily.
Enya seized the chance and started running in the direction where the web wasn’t present.
“Huff… Huff…!”
She realized she had never run like this before.
The sensation of the wind brushing against her cheeks was so unfamiliar she couldn’t even notice it.
Something was shot towards her.
It was a spider’s web.
The dense trees in the direction she was running began to get covered with webs. The skull spider, momentarily stunned by the weapon Senu had fired, started pursuing her again.
“Enya, run faster!”
Jahan yelled from behind.
Enya felt her breath catching in her throat. At the same time, she noticed someone running alongside her.
It was Silanda.
Breathing heavily, Silanda shouted with her mouth open.
“Huff! That thing is only chasing you! What’s going on?”
“Could, could it be that it’s telling me to stop? “Huff, it must recognize me as the Forest Daughter…”
Silanda shouted back, clearly incredulous.
“Is that what the monster’s behavior toward you looks like? Crazy! If you stop now, you’ll be hit by those venomous fangs right away…!”
Silanda was right.
Enya had also noticed that the skull spider’s actions were far from calm.
The indiscriminate webs being shot by the skull spider were already tearing through half the forest. The plants and animals struck by the venomous spider silk emitted by the skull spider fell lifelessly. The web itself seemed to be imbued with toxins.
It was clearly an attack filled with hostility.
‘So, the skull spider was really crazy after all.’
Even if Enya stopped now, there wasn’t much she could do. She would merely become food for the skull spider.
Just then, a huge roar came from behind.
It was definitely the sound of one of the weapons Senu’s group had brought. After Senu’s weapon, Jahan hit one of the skull spider’s legs with his own weapon.
With a slashing sound, liquid splattered as one of the skull spider’s legs fell off. Despite this, the skull spider continued to chase them with its remaining legs, relentlessly shooting webs from its sharp fangs.
“D*mn it, it’s like we’re not doing any damage!”
Silanda gasped desperately. Even for Enya, who was aware of the power of their weapons, it was an astonishing sight.
Even though they had already shot off two of its legs, the gigantic monster seemed unaffected, continuing its pursuit as if it wasn’t even tickled by the attacks. The massive skull spider trampled through the Nervana Forest, toppling trees of enormous size without any resistance.
Then, Fiarca did something that made the skull spider momentarily stop. From behind, Fiarca’s voice could be heard shouting loudly.
“Enya! For now, just run! No matter what happens, don’t leave the waterfall area! I’ll definitely find you!”
Enya desperately hoped her voice would reach Fiarca and shouted back.
“Got it! Be careful too, Fiarca!”
Enya could feel Silanda and the wolf running beside her. Their labored breathing seemed to make her own breath more difficult. The trees were becoming shorter and shorter, and she could feel pain in her legs.
The sound of a raging waterfall grew louder.
A sheer cliff was beginning to appear ahead. From behind, the sound of breaking trees started again. The skull spider was right on their tail.
‘If this keeps up, it’s never going to end.’
Her legs felt numb as if paralyzed. Enya knew she couldn’t hold out much longer.
‘How do I get away from the forest’s master…!’
All around her was nothing but trees.
It was time to make a decision. They rushed through the thick trunks before them. The long trunks seemed as tough and resilient as the skull spider’s webs. At the same time, she sensed that water was pouring down onto the ground they were treading.
‘It’s water.’
Enya thought.
To escape the forest master’s gaze, they needed to get out of the forest.
“Silanda! We need to get to the river!”
Enya shouted out to Silanda, who was running right beside her.
“I know!”
Silanda replied quickly and reached out towards a nearby trunk.
Enya was momentarily taken aback by Silanda’s astonishing decisiveness. Without hesitation, she grabbed the trunk and threw her whole body into the air. In an instant, the figure of Silanda running beside her vanished.
Enya had no time to waste. She, too, hurriedly grabbed onto any available trunk.
‘Please let me survive!’
Enya prayed silently. Soon, her body was also lifted into the air.
She felt her short hair being tousled by the wind and squeezed her eyes shut before opening them wide again.
The rebound propelled her body upwards. She gritted her teeth.
