I Unintentionally Cured the Grand Duke’s Insomnia - Chapter 114
57. — Fact Outside of the Work (2)
“There is, indeed.”
“What happened?”
I involuntarily pursed my lips for a moment before I shook my head and answered.
“…Um, nothing. Well, something like that.”
At the sight of my laughing, claiming it was nothing, Lily smiled insipidly.
The next moment, I glanced at the calendar on the desk and raised the corners of my mouth. After observing Cain for the past ten days, he no longer suffered from insomnia. His expression became noticeably more relaxed, and his demeanor had softened.
Of course, softened was relative compared to before, that was.
Well, anyway!
The fact that the male lead, who had suffered from insomnia, was no longer in pain was the best thing that could have happened. In the novel, Cain’s obsession with Irene, whom he considered his only salvation, was undoubtedly a good selling point. However, there was nothing good about such an obsession becoming a reality.
Now that he was cured of insomnia, he was no longer obsessed with anything.
So naturally, Irene wouldn’t suffer from his maniacal obsession.
I thought Irene, delicate yet kind, and Cain, blindly devoted, would be a perfect match more than anyone else. So when the two met three days later, they would fall in love, and they would work together to defeat the villain I had created in the novel. If their path became a bit difficult and challenging, I could help them as much as I could.
So, from now on, Cain and Irene’s path will be filled only with sweet and happy moments, right?
I thought I would be simply delighted with how things were progressing as expected, but strangely, my heart felt tight, as if I had caught something.
Lily asked with a worried look as she saw me nervously tapping around the pit of my stomach.
“Young Lady, are you okay?”
“…Ung, I’m fine. More importantly, what about His Highness the Grand Duke?”
“I think he’ll be arriving soon. But why did you invite him to the house today?”
“I thought it would be nice to have a meal together one last time.”
“One last time?”
I looked at Lily, who was tilting her head, and slowly stood up from my seat.
“It’s time for the extras to leave.”

Roan smiled softly as he looked at Cain, who was sitting in his seat reading a fairy tale.
At first, it was a coincidence, and then it became a concern.
He had stumbled upon Adelia’s book while looking through the books on display at a bookstore, wondering if it might be of help to someone who has suffered from insomnia for over five years. Not only did his infamous nickname seem to gain weight with each passing day, but there was also concern that a novel modeled on him might have been published.
The book he picked up, thinking he should check and handle it himself, was literally magical.
The book lulled him to sleep after only a few lines.
Roan looked at the book and thought that perhaps Cain could also have a good night. And the book he had passed along, just in case, was literally a miracle. His master was given peace as a gift from that one book, to the extent that the insomnia that had plagued him, making him toss and turn every day, felt like a lie.
〈 I’ll come to you every day, just like the child in this fairy tale. I will eat with you and talk with you every day so that you can be happy. 〉
At the sound of Adelia’s voice coming through the door, Roan felt like he was going to cry.
And it seemed to be the same for Cain.
From that day forward, Cain was given the gift of a life in which he could fall asleep without books.
This time, thanks to Adelia’s sincere words and her fairy tale book.
Roan couldn’t help but feel his nose tingle whenever he saw his master reading the fairy tale book Adelia had given him whenever he had a spare moment. He couldn’t help but think that perhaps Adelia wasn’t the only savior for him after all.
As he watched Cain close the last page of the fairy tale book, Roan placed a small box on his desk.
“This is the necklace made of rubies that Your Highness asked for a while ago.”
Hearing Roan’s low voice, Cain reached out and picked up the box. When he opened the small box, a necklace made of diamonds and rubies was sparkling inside.
“Are you thinking of giving this to Young Lady Blaise?”
The old man’s hesitant words finally couldn’t be held back and flew out of his mouth.
Cain’s lips quirked up playfully as he looked at his butler, who was waiting for an answer.
“I hope she likes it.”
“She’ll like it, I’m sure.”
Cain rose from his seat, looking at Roan’s smiling face.
“Then I’ll be leaving the mansion, Roan.”
“Return safely, Your Excellency.”
He looked at the back of his master leaving the room, stuffing the box containing the necklace in his jacket’s inner pocket.
He hoped that his face would be filled with smiles when he returned to the mansion.
