I Unintentionally Cured the Grand Duke’s Insomnia - Chapter 113
57. — Fact Outside of the Work (1)
How did I forget it?
The existence of Adelia Blaise was the most conclusive evidence that the Marquis Black had practiced dark magic.
Adelia Blaise.
The existence of this woman was a secret that only I, the author, knew because I had never once mentioned the narrative of the County of Blaise in my work.
Adelia was a one-off character created solely for the purpose of darkening Count Blaise, with no name or physical description provided.
Lautner Black, aiming for the Count’s wealth, cast black magic on Warren’s only daughter, and the woman, who had suffered from an unknown illness for over a decade, died even before the original story began. When his wife gave up her life due to his daughter’s death, the Count completely turned evil, having lost all his precious people in an instant.
Because of that, the Marquis succeeded in persuading him by promising to save his wife and daughter with magic that ran in his family.
In order to save the two people who were everything to him, he joined hands with Marquis Black, but he was unable to save anyone and was only used and abandoned. Although it was supposedly to save his daughter and wife, Warren, who had contributed to the deaths of hundreds of people in the empire, met a miserable end at the hands of Cain.
…Leading the County of Blaise to downfall was the entirety of the role I gave her.
I could see strands of white hair beneath my lowered head.
The strands of hair were indeed a sign that Adelia had been ensnared by black magic, a testament that the original story was unfolding as planned.
And the hair, which was once again returning to its original pink color, was further proof that my soul was firmly entrenched in Adelia’s body, evidence that the original storyline had been twisted.
“Adelia Blaise.”
A warm hand touched my frozen face as I realized the fact once again. Before I knew it, he had approached, his hand cupping my cheek, urging me to look up.
Cain met my violently shaking eyes and asked.
“What’s going on?”
There was kindness in his voice as he asked calmly. I hastily shook my head as I saw my own reflection shaking violently in his red eyes.
“It, it’s nothing. I just lost strength in my hands for a moment…”
I moved my right hand, which was holding the teacup, and smiled as if it were nothing. His hand, which had been cupping my cheek, slowly descended down my cheek and touched my right hand. Then, he gently intertwined the fingers of my right hand, which had been moving restlessly. A smile displayed on his face when he saw me frozen in place by his behavior that felt somehow strange.
When I looked at him in surprise at the tightly intertwined hands and gaze, the corners of his mouth raised up playfully.
“If you can’t even hold a teacup, what should I do?”
“….”
“Should I feed you then?”
My face flushed under his gaze that touched my lips. He was smiling leisurely even while looking at my red face.
“N-no! Feeding me isn’t necessary. I’m really fine. So, first, please give me this hand…”
“Lia.”
The stuttering words stopped.
I looked at Cain in surprise at the sound of his voice, a complete change from the playfulness of a moment ago. His red eyes seemed to darken as they fixed on me, as if he were remembering something.
“You make the person looking at you feel precarious.”
“….”
“It makes me feel like you’re someone who can leave or disappear at any moment.”
I wondered if he had perhaps noticed something with his subdued words… the fact that I was a foreign presence that shouldn’t exist in this novel.
As I stared at him as if I were caught in his gaze, Cain continued with sharp eyes.
“Don’t get hurt. And don’t hide anything from me.”
“….”
“So that I won’t hesitate to break your wings and tie you by my side.”
His eyes shined sharply as he waited for my answer.
A sudden realization struck me as I observed the intense possessiveness he was revealing. I couldn’t help but think that if things continued like this, I might end up becoming someone who would be tightly bound to him rather than just an extra who happened to be involved.
“The answer is…”
I nodded my head awkwardly, avoiding Cain’s gaze, demanding an answer. Despite the compliant response I gave, my mind was filled with one thought.
…It was now time to gradually distance myself from him.

Time passed diligently.
I clenched my fists as I remembered Irene’s return, which was only three days away.
“Alright.”
“Young Lady, here’s the invitation to the party.”
“Oh, thank you, Lily.”
Lily tilted her head as she watched me hum a tune while marking D-day on the calendar. After placing the invitations on the side of my desk, she turned to me and asked carefully.
“Did something good happen?”
