I Think I’m a Horror Game Villain - Chapter 71
Chapter 71
In the center of the room, a crimson-draped altar stood, beneath it a magic circle drawn in crimson ink.
Two faded frames hung on the walls, below which stood a low bookcase. The books piled inside, unorganized, were floating on the water. Among them was Jessie’s diary.
Apart from the books, the only other objects were a rusty chain scattered in one corner of the room and a jeweled cross neatly placed beside it.
I examined the objects one by one, but found nothing that could be a hint.
“The diary is empty…”
The diary, which I had opened hoping for a clue, was blank no matter how many pages I turned.
‘Is there really a clue?’
Five minutes had already passed without finding anything. The water, which had been pouring down relentlessly, had risen to my neck.
“Are you done yet? I’m going to drown at this rate!”
Tommy, with Rose on his back, shouted in an agitated voice.
‘I know!’
Seeing the rising water made my heart beat faster.
If I enter the wrong answer again this time, there will be no next time. I only have one chance!
I listed the objects in the room in my head.
Bookcase. Frame. Diary. Magic circle. Chain. Cross.
‘Huh?’
“Diary. Chain. Cross.*”
*TL/N: 일(1)기장. 사(4)슬. 십(10)자가. In other words she noticed there were numbers in the words, I can’t translate that to english.
“Heyna?”
“That was it!”
“Did you find the answer?”
“Yes.”
‘The numbers written vertically in the first line were not actually numbers*.’
*TL/N: In Korean, the first hangul of these words became number. For example 일기장 meaning diary. 일 in this case also means one.
6 is the six-pointed star drawn on the magic circle. 1 is Jessie’s diary.
Each number is the first letter of an object in the room converted to a number.
10 and 4 mean cross and chain.
And the number to be entered in the answer box is the number of each object.
With Dekir’s help, I went back up and checked the problem again.
6 = 1
10 = ?
1 = 1
4 = ?
[1□1□]
The six-pointed star and diary, which correspond to 6 and 1, are each one.
The cross, which means 10.
And the chain, which means 4.
The number of the two objects is…
I put my face in the water. And I counted how many chains and crosses were submerged on the floor several times.
‘Two crosses. Six chains.’
Then, the answer is!
[1 2 1 6]
The filled numbers glowed golden.
Click.
The sound of a door opening from above was heard. Pushing the slightly misaligned ceiling wall with all my might, a passage leading upward was revealed. The passage walls had supports to hold on to as I climbed.
“It’s done! Let’s go up!”
Tommy, carrying Rose on his back, was the first to enter the passage. I was worried that it would be difficult for him to climb with one hand supporting Rose, but Tommy was climbing well without showing any signs of difficulty.
“Heyna, you go up next. I’ll go last.”
“Yes.”
By the time Dekir raised his head to the passage, the room we were in was completely submerged in water.
“Thank goodness.”
If we had been just a little late, we would have ended up with a drowning ending.
Creak-
The sound of a door opening was heard in the distance. Dazzling light poured into the dark passage.
“Tommy!”
I looked up and saw Zion.
‘Okay, now I just have to get up there.’
Tommy, who had already reached Zion’s location, first lifted Rose, who was on his back. Zion took Rose and then Tommy climbed up.
Dekir and I came out of the passage one after another.
“Heyna.”
Dekir carefully wrapped my hand and asked.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?”
My hands were a mess from grabbing the rusty supports. I had used so much force for fear of slipping that my skin was scraped and red.
“Yes, I’m fine.”
The palms of Dekir’s hands were also scraped red like mine.
I was grateful for Dekir’s consideration for worrying about me first even though his own hands were not okay.
“Let’s find a place where they have medicine once we get out of here. It might leave a scar if we leave it like this.”
Hearing Dekir’s worried voice, I felt my heart ease for some reason, and I was relieved that we had escaped safely.
Just as I was about to relax…
“Where do you think you’re going!”
A chilling shriek, like nails scraping against metal, echoed as a clammy hand grabbed my ankle.
‘Jessie!’
Jessie, who had half of his neck bent and stuck out between the passage, glared at me with bloodshot eyes. Her dislocated arm pulled me with terrifying force.
“Heyna…!”
“Dekir…!”
Dekir reached out to grab me, but I was pulled into the passage faster than he could.
In an instant, my body, which had fallen back to the current room, sank into the water.
‘Let go of me!’
