I Think I’m a Horror Game Villain - Chapter 70
Chapter 70
‘This is not the time for this. I need to get Rose to the altar quickly.’
“Heyna.”
The man chuckled, his amusement bubbling over as he called my name. I shot him a glare, annoyed at the unnecessary delay he caused.
“Can you talk yet?”
“Uh? Oh, yes! I can!”
Five minutes passed, and the penalty was lifted.
‘Thank goodness. Now I can talk.’
I quickly explained to Tommy, “Tommy, the reason I tried to take Rose to the altar was to escape this room.”
I shared the information I knew with him.
Fortunately, Tommy didn’t ask any further questions about how I knew this information or whether it was reliable. He seemed too preoccupied with his own emotions to even think about it.
While Tommy stood there in a daze, Dekir picked Rose up. As he gently laid the unconscious Rose on the altar, a red light flickered on the hexagram below.
“Heyna, look over there.”
Dekir’s fingertip pointed to the ceiling. I followed his finger and looked up.
‘Something has appeared.’
Faint letters were appearing on the previously blank ceiling.
“It’s too small and faint to see properly. Deki, could you lift me up?”
“Sure.”
Dekir carefully wrapped his arms around my waist and lifted me up. Now I could clearly see the words written on the ceiling.
6 = 1
10 = ?
1 = 1
4 = ?
‘This… is a problem I don’t know.’
As I reached out to the writing,
[1□1□]
A holographic answer box appeared.
“Heyna, how is it? Can you see what’s written?”
“Yes. It looks like we need to solve a problem…”
I read the numbers above to Dekir.
“It’s strange. Why are 6 and 1 both 1?”
“I know.”
Usually, these kinds of problems are nonsense problems that don’t require any mathematical knowledge.
‘Let’s think calmly.’
6 = 1
1 = 1
What could be the reason why 6 and 1 are both 1?
Date. Time. Unit.
I tried substituting the formulas used in various nonsense problems, but none of them matched.
‘Then there might be a clue hidden somewhere in the room.’
As I was about to look around the room, a familiar voice suddenly came through the walkie-talkie.
– Heyna, Dekir. Can you hear me?
It was Zion, who was alone in the future room.
“Zion, what’s wrong?”
– Heyna. Is there any water dripping in your room?
“Uh, uh? Yes, there is. How did you know?”
– I see. I put my ear to the floor because I thought I heard water dripping, and I faintly heard Heyna’s voice.
My voice was heard?
“Zion, can you put your ear to the floor again?”
– Yes.
I knocked on the ceiling twice.
“Can you hear it?”
– Yes, I can. You just knocked on the ceiling twice, right?
“That’s right!”
It seemed that the future room was above this one. Zion’s contact confirmed it.
‘If we solve the problem written on the ceiling, we can go to the future room where Zion is.’
Suddenly, something came to mind.
‘Past, present, future. All three rooms are connected.’
The maid’s uniform, the clue to escaping the present room, was in the past room. So the clue to the problem written on the ceiling might be in the future room.
“Zion, what’s in that room?”
– There’s nothing here.
Unfortunately, the answer I wanted didn’t come back.
“Are there any suspicious objects or writing on the wall?”
– No, not at all. It’s just a white room.
It can’t be.
Maybe my prediction was wrong? My heart grew even more anxious.
‘In that case!’
I decided to use the brute-force method, which is often used in these kinds of problems, even though it’s unsophisticated.
[1□1□]
First, I filled the empty squares with two zeros.
[1010]
Since zero wasn’t the answer, the places where I had written zero became blank again.
‘If I keep putting in numbers like this, I’ll eventually find the answer.’
The number of cases that appear when I put all the numbers from 0 to 9 in each square is 100.
The water had been rising at a steady pace, so I had some time to spare.
‘Thankfully, it seems like there’s no penalty for getting the answer wrong….’
Just as I thought that.
Kwaaargh!
The water level suddenly increased with a loud noise.
[Wrong answer.]
[Penalty!]
[The water level will rise faster.]
[You cannot answer for the next 5 minutes.]
‘This crazy game system. If there’s something like this, shouldn’t they at least put a warning message at the bottom?!’
How many users like me are trying to crack the password with brute force? They didn’t even put a warning message and suddenly gave me a penalty!
But the water had already spilled.
‘I have to get the next answer right, no matter what. Otherwise, I don’t know what will happen.’
Anyway, since I couldn’t answer for the next 5 minutes, I decided to try solving the problem during the remaining time.
“Deki, do you have any ideas?”
“No. I’m still thinking about it, but I don’t know yet. Heyna?”
“I don’t have a good feeling either.”
Tommy doesn’t seem to be of much help, and Rose is still unconscious. Deki and I are the only ones who can solve the problem.
‘If we find the reason why 6 and 1 are 1, we should be able to find the numbers corresponding to 10 and 4 naturally.’
“Deki, let me down. I need to search the room again for any clues.”
If there are no clues in the future room, there must be clues here. I decided to look for the hidden clues again, as I had initially thought.
