I Grabbed the Tyrant’s Heart - Chapter 178
Fortunately, the trees were tall enough to fly through without hitting them.
As I fell, a monster twice my size closed in swiftly. I climbed onto its back and sliced through its vulnerable neck.
Blue blood spurted as my black sword cut through flesh and bone, and I kicked off its body to avoid it. I landed behind a smaller monster and swiftly decapitated it.
The monsters likely had no idea what hit them.
“Now, who’s next?”
“Kkah!”
Agitated by the sight of blood, the monsters roared and began to move erratically. I charged forward before they could reach me.
The large trees were hit by the monster’s feet, swaying and shedding leaves in the commotion. The green things that rained in the sky dazzled my eyes as it didn’t fit the situation.
It was eerily reminiscent of the white snowfall in Varen.
This reminded me of training with Ber in the heavy snow. He called me out, saying I had to get used to this. Father froze solid while trying to accompany me as he said his daughter was having a hard time.
In the end, I had to carry Father home, only to return to training as it wasn’t over yet.
“Compared to Ber, you lot are easy.”
With Ber’s sword, even breathing was difficult.
Evading threatening limbs, slashing vertically, cutting claws, and kicking. The sensation of killing from my hands was no different from fending off hungry wolves.
Their strange howls and unfamiliar smell brought a slight tension, but my sensation was overridden by the instinct to survive. My body knew that neither agitation nor fear was helpful. Perhaps even realizing these creatures stood no chance against me.
First-timers would be overwhelmed by their appearance and magic, but I don’t have it.
I jumped high and punched the belly of a monster leaping towards me.
“Idiot.”
Exposing their weakness was practically asking to be hit.
The monsters’ hide was rough and tough, but not enough to hurt my hands. Perhaps it would take catching dozens barehanded to cause any pain?
Despite the initial shock of facing these creatures, battling them turned out to be easier than expected.
After clearing most of the monsters around, the ground appeared soaked in blue. While I managed to avoid getting blood on myself, my knee-high boots were now dirtied.
Off in the distance, stood a monster on its hind legs, using its tail for balance, unlike the others. This creature, despite being only about the size of a person, had been targeting the knights and was cleverly exploiting the loopholes.
Having looked at the monster manual multiple times, distinguishing its type wasn’t challenging.
A Kirapt, a high-level monster.
Unlike other monsters, its heart was known to be hard and lustrous, so it was often used in jewelry.
However, its form was obscured so even skilled knights struggled against it.
The most frightening aspect of a Kirapt is its intelligence.
Unlike other monsters driven purely by a desire to kill, Kirapts are known to be capable of thinking.
As the remaining monsters dwindled to a few, the Kirapt started retreating, then turned and fled.
“Lady!”
“Don’t interfere, stay back!”
If it escaped and potentially reached a village, it could cause considerable trouble. Especially being a high-level monster. It needed to be dealt with here.
“Euel!”
“Go ahead!”
I responded to Ruby’s shout and powered through my legs.
This place is similar to the terrain of Guana Mountain so it meant descending wouldn’t be difficult, so I ran without hesitation. Without our guide Ruby, it still wouldn’t matter.
The monster deftly weaved through the dense trees, and each time I dodged one, another would obstruct my view, disorienting me.
To avoid the dizzying effect, I closed my eyes and relied solely on my senses. This was faster and more accurate.
Training with Ber on ‘dodging falling snow with eyes closed’ proved its worth.
Dodging snow was relatively easy.
It was much harder to evade hundreds of snowballs Ber hurled, especially since they flew incredibly fast and gave bruises upon impact as it was mixed with magic.
After being hit hundreds of times, I’ve become numb to any blow.
I heightened my senses, scanning for any of the creature’s allies but found none. It seemed safe to chase and strike it down.
As the monster ran, it suddenly stopped as if hitting an invisible barrier. Despite clear space behind it, it acted as if trapped by an unseen wall.
I didn’t understand its behavior, but it presented an opportunity.
With no one around, I could use magic. Not being officially registered as a wizard meant using magic was technically illegal, so I had refrained.
“Kiieee!”
The trapped monster began to wail as it found itself unable to move. The legs were tied by my magic.
“Since there’s no one around, maybe I’ll practice some magic.”
I needed to use some complex magic, something I couldn’t openly practice in the capital.
How about a disintegration spell?
“Ah, I can’t just disintegrate you, can I?”
The Kirapt’s heart was a precious gem, it would make a perfect gift for Tess. I can imbue it with my own magic, similar to the sword he gave me.
I focused on the monster the size of an adult man.
Explode, explode, explode.
Exploding it with minimal magic to make a large effect is an efficient way to overcome my limitations.
I concentrated hard on one point.
“Explode!”
