I Grabbed the Tyrant’s Heart - Chapter 179
My shout was met with no immediate effect, so I got disappointed. Suddenly, I sensed an alien movement of magic and quickly backed away.
Without sound, the monster disintegrated into dust. What seemed like an instant to others felt slow to me, as fine particles drifted apart.
As the monster disintegrated, not blue blood but black light burst forth. It dispersed magic particles in all directions.
If I got hit by that, I’d end up like that monster.
“Shield!”
As I cast a protective spell and grasped the blue flesh of the plump heart with my left hand, the scenery shifted. Although my feet never left the ground, it felt as though I had moved somewhere else.
“The sky…?”
Amidst the densely leaf-covered surroundings, the cloudless sky was clear.
It made me forget even to question where I was. Before I could fully appreciate the scenery, tinged with a blue closer to the heavens, a hostile presence attacked me.
The hint of someone nearby came from the right.
Clang!
A sharp metallic sound echoed in the air.
The attack came from the left, targeting what appeared to be my vulnerable side since my sword was in my right hand.
“What are you?”
A man with green hair asked fiercely. His right hand resembled the claw of a beast, with unnaturally long nails.
Though I had never seen his kind before, I could guess the nature of the being before me.
“Why have you entered my domain?”
“Greetings to the dragon residing in the Kirik Mountains. I am Euseniel, a half-elf.”
“I could tell you’re a half-elf. But why are you in my territory?”
The dragon exuded a fierce aura, but surprisingly, I wasn’t frightened.
“I didn’t enter intentionally. I was drawn here while dealing with a monster attack.”
“A monster, you say? Indeed, the blood on your sword is that of a monster. But tell me, half-elf.”
The dragon’s tone softened, yet the lethal aura he emitted remained, keeping me on edge.
“That sword you wield is particularly displeasing to me!”
With that, what could either be his arm or leg moved to strike, clearly intending to kill.
While deflecting each sharp attack, what reassured me was that Tess’s heart that I wore around my neck remained undetected.
The dragon, disturbed by the unpleasant sensation emanating from my sword, was not willing to listen to my explanations. Had it seen the heart, condensed with a similar energy, it surely would have attempted to destroy it.
Considering that even the Fairy King had failed to notice it, Tess’s heart must truly emit no detectable aura.
Tess had mentioned casting a spell to conceal its presence, and while magic flows, I had thought it might exude a devilish aura like the sword.
Clang! Claclang!
My sword and the dragon’s claws clashed continuously, making loud metallic sounds. Occasionally, the dragon’s legs joined in, sounding just as metallic.
“You! Are you really a half-elf?”
“Yes, I am.”
“Then why are you still standing!”
It was a strange question to ask. I stood because I could.
Again, the blade and the dragon’s leg met again, echoing a deadly resonance. The dragon’s scales seemed as hard as metal itself.
“Die!”
Frustrated by its inability to best me, the dragon became irritated. But I surprisingly remained composed, supported by both strength and speed.
Years of training since childhood had prepared me, but my time in Varen had been particularly beneficial.
Thank you, Ber.
Because of you, I think I can survive this.
And more so, I understand now how earnestly he trained me. Facing a dragon that seems to attack with real intent, and being able to defend, shows he really used the power of a dragon in my training.
When I see him again, I’ll be torn between scolding him and thanking him.
“Die already!”
With its green hair, this must be an earth dragon, quick-tempered despite its nature.
– The earth is the mother, embracing all things.
It’s a line from an ancient oral poem.
The supposedly benevolent nature of the earth dragon was far from the ferocity he displayed.
Being within the dragon’s barrier, the magic felt different from when I was climbing the mountain, but luckily, it did not disturb me.
“Why won’t you die?”
The dragon’s irritation was echoed by a distant loud noise.
Boom!
One of the high mountain peaks that was made of stone, seemed to fall in slow motion, drawing awe in a situation that hardly suited it.
“Which crazy guy again…?!”
The peak’s destruction was accompanied by a movement of magic so vast that even I could feel it.
“Tess!”
As I instinctively called out to the source of the magic, a dark mass appeared beside me.
“Euseniel.”
The person who emerged was my lover, swirling in his black suit, accompanied by a sweet, sweet scent. As I stood, puzzled whether to rejoice or confused at this unexpected reunion, the enraged dragon shouted.
“Were you allies?”
It was Tess who blocked the dragon’s attack with his half-drawn sword as dark as mine. That alone was imposing.
“So, a human of the imperial lineage.”
“…”
“The devil’s contractor.”
Tess remained silent.
“I’ve heard plenty about you. More persistent and venomous than any other contractor?”
There was a forlorn look to his back.
“This isn’t my first time meeting with a contractor, but the stench you emit is particularly foul.”
The dragon’s eyes, once human-like, narrowed and morphed into reptilian slits. The yellow, glossy eyeballs resembled those of a beast.
As its iris narrowed, the dragon lashed out with sharp claws, and Tess dodged backward. He stood next to my side with a thin stream of blood running down his pale cheek.
“What will you do if you hurt the face I like?”
“You said you’d love me regardless of my face.”
“That’s a different matter.”
