I Grabbed the Tyrant’s Heart - Chapter 133
Once I became aware of the transparent soul plate, it now appears vividly.
Transparent it may be, a color I’d never seen before, but it doesn’t change in its unsettling nature. Because the transparent plate faded into different colors and repeatedly disappeared.
Now, Euseniel’s emotions reflect clearly in my eyes.
“Ah.”
As I saw Euseniel again, I realized an important fact. Now, it doesn’t have to be her, right?
If I can also see Euseniel’s souls, then it doesn’t have to be her.
As soon as I realized this fact, I attempted to get up to ask someone nearby to dance, but I immediately sat back down. I didn’t feel like dancing.
Either with anyone.
“Hello, Your Majesty.”
“Yes.”
I replied absentmindedly to the voice. However, whatever they said, I didn’t want to hear it.
Even though I tried to stop, my gaze kept returning to one person.
Euseniel.
All I wanted to hear was her voice.
As I glanced briefly at the sound of the unnecessary words, I saw a soul tainted with arrogance and a desire for power, all muddled together.
I prevented the individual with the dirty soul and the nauseating scent of perfume from approaching.
Leaning back on the throne, I opened my ears, which I had kept closed for a while, to hear what Euseniel was talking about. However, irrelevant chatter started seeping in.
“That person, isn’t he a high-level wizard?”
“Here’s the next Archmage is it?”
“I heard he’s still unmarried. His dance partner… is she Lady Hardland?”
“Lady Hardland is quite talented. To seduce a high-level wizard right after being rejected by His Majesty.”
I etched the faces into my memory of those people chattered excitedly. They’ll all face execution later.
A smile played at the corners of Euseniel’s lips, and seeing her like that, the heart of the damn scholar turned pink.
Like Ethyl Bonart, who used to watch Euseniel a long time ago.
When the two of them disappeared beyond the terrace, it became unbearable.
Would I feel better if I kill that guy?
But I have to endure it because Euseniel would be angry.
Through the conversation between Euseniel and the damn scholar, I could finally learn what Euseniel had been up to all this time. It seems like they talk about everything except stories related to her past life, with occasional hints here and there.
Ah, Euseniel’s secret is something only I know. It feels good.
A little while later, Euseniel entered the hall.
“Eu…..”
I could sense that something was amiss in her brightened expression.
“One more dance?”
“Sure.”
Dancing with Euseniel should only be my privilege, yet she headed to the floor with another man. She had danced just one song with me, but now she danced several songs with someone else.
“Your Majesty?”
I realized I had risen from my seat at the chief attendant’s call. The musicians halted their performance, preparing to play again. I deliberately turned away from Euseniel, who was escorted by another man. Then I tried to defuse the situation.
“I’ll be leaving, so everyone, enjoy yourselves.”
I couldn’t bring myself to look at Euseniel’s face.
“Your Majesty, are you feeling unwell?”
I turned around at the sound of the chief attendant’s call. My senses had dulled to the point where I didn’t even notice him coming after me.
“Me?”
“Yes, Your Majesty, you seem unsteady at the moment.”
Me?
I have a body that recovers quickly, not susceptible to minor illnesses, and heals from wounds rapidly. I shouldn’t be feeling unwell.
“Could it be because of Lady Hardland?”
“Euseniel? Why? What does she have to do with it?”
“My apologies, Your Majesty, I overstepped my bounds.”
The chief attendant began to apologize to me, and I couldn’t quite understand his attitude.
“Why do you think my body is shaking because of Euseniel?”
She hasn’t rejected me or anything. I don’t understand why the chief attendant suddenly felt the need to apologize.
“Never mind, just keep watch over the party. I won’t see anyone.”
I moved away from the hesitating chief attendant. My legs wobbled. Eventually, I used teleportation to return to my bedroom.
“Euseniel……”
She seemed to be enjoying herself while facing that damn scholar, and her voice was full of vitality.
I couldn’t bear to look at her soul.
I wondered if her soul was filled with affection.
“Euseniel.”
I closed my eyes, trying to erase the lingering image of Euseniel’s face.
I had never imagined Euseniel with a visible soul, so this situation felt incredibly unfamiliar and perplexing. Therefore, I decided to look again. But when it came time to face her, I couldn’t bring myself to, so I secretly went to watch.
Euseniel was mostly in the Hardland mansion, but she occasionally went out, and every time she did, I followed her.
“It’s still visible.”
Euseniel’s senses were extremely sensitive, so I had to keep a considerable distance. Still, her soul was so clear that it seemed to be filled with sadness.
“Will it continue to be visible in the future……?”
I had hoped it might stop being visible again, but even after several days had passed, there was no change. She had now become indistinguishable from other beings.
I decided to conduct an experiment.
Until now, I had tried to gauge Euseniel’s mood through her expressions, tone of voice, and actions. Even now that I could see her soul, I unconsciously continued to look at Euseniel’s face. Let’s try doing the same with other people, instead of their souls, I’ll look at their faces.
“Greetings Your Majesty.”
Unlike her father, Aurin Xuen had a unique soul color. She greeted me.
“Aurin Xuen.”
I called her name as we came face to face, and her mood visibly soured.
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
“Raise your head.”
She obeyed the command, albeit with some confusion, and I stared at her face. I felt no particular emotion.
I knew her hair was a deep crimson, but I didn’t realize her eyes were the same color. Her appearance was ordinary, so I couldn’t understand why the young officials in the palace favored her.
Euseniel was much more beautiful.
