I Grabbed the Tyrant’s Heart - Chapter 134
If I were to chase after Euseniel, I’d kill them all.
“Your Majesty, if there is no further business, may I take my leave?”
“Do as you wish.”
I repeated the same actions several times.
However, my efforts were in vain as I continued to see the souls and identify who my opponents were with that. Sometimes, I managed to see their faces first. But just by looking at their faces, I couldn’t discern anything else.
I wanted to know how my opponents perceived me in this situation and if their words and actions matched.
As I moved wherever my footsteps took me, an unfamiliar voice caught my attention.
“Your Majesty.”
I looked at her face first, which seemed unfamiliar.
“Who are you?”
The woman appeared flustered at first, but she soon smiled. It was a feigned smile, hiding her greedy heart.
“I am Louise Hitty, Your Majesty. I recently passed the diplomatic exam and have entered the palace. It’s an honor to meet you.”
The woman went on about things I had no interest in, and the terrible scent of perfume reminded me of who she was.
The woman who I mistook as Count Belverd. When I saw her soul, it was covered in a thick, sticky substance, just as repulsive as before.
“Very well.”
I suppressed my rising disgust and continued walking, but the woman followed.
“Your Majesty!”
“What is it?”
“Could you offer a few words on the mindset a new diplomat should have?”
“Get lost.”
Before I kill you.
Perhaps Louise Hitty didn’t hear the unspoken thoughts or simply chose to ignore them, she smiled and spoke.
“Your Majesty–”
“Did your father teach you to keep talking even when the Emperor tells you to go away?”
Seeing the fear in her soul brought satisfaction.
“You’re disgusting, so get lost.”
“Louise Hitty!”
Aurin Xuen, whom I had seen earlier, silenced the woman as she tried to speak again.
“What are you doing now? Everyone else has gathered, why are you here all by yourself?”
I left, leaving the displeased Xuen and the annoyed Hitty behind. I felt like I wanted to get rid of the scent of perfume.
I had tried not to see people’s souls for a few days, but it was all in vain. It was only after repeating the same foolish actions that I realized something.
I couldn’t settle for anyone other than Euseniel.
I initially became interested in her because I couldn’t see her soul, but now, even if I could, it didn’t matter.
– Hello, little squirrel.
Euseniel, walking along the forest path of the Concium, spoke to a small animal. I couldn’t see her expression, but her mood was clearly pleasant. When I saw her soul, it was faint, but it radiated a subtle charm.
The golden flecks inside her sparkling green eyes and even her transparent soul were endearing, making me want to hold onto her.
All my senses were solely focused on one person, and I couldn’t do this with anyone other than Euseniel.
When the vases and the magic stones that got shattered were precisely counted to one hundred, I went to find Euseniel.
The pristine bedroom remained unchanged, and Euseniel, now seemingly ready to sleep, was wearing her nightclothes.
“Euseniel.”
“You’ve come to the wrong place, Your Majesty.”
She responded calmly without any hint of emotion, even going so far as to cast a soundproofing spell.
“Marquisate Hitty is located three turns to the left from Corr Road.”
Euseniel’s face was chillingly hardened, and just from that, I could tell how angry she was. The soul I belatedly examined was icy blue.
I kneeled.
“Euseniel, I was wrong.”
“……”
“I was wrong, Euseniel.”
I saw your soul, so I ran away.
Now there’s no escape if you hate me, so I fled first.
“I’m sorry. Please..…”
I forced my stiff tongue to move.
“…..Please forgive me.”
Unable to overcome the lingering silence, I timidly lifted my gaze and saw her soul tinged with blue.
Her soul seemed like it was created by the winds of Varen, radiating anger. I bowed my head again. I couldn’t bring myself to look at her face.
Her pure white feet and tiny toes were visible in my view. It was as if I was looking at a sculpture made of wax. I felt an impulse to lick her white instep, which was oddly out of place given the situation.
Euseniel’s unique scent began to creep into my nostrils, and my mouth became dry.
The hands on my knees were clutching into fists I didn’t even realize I had formed. I mustered the courage to raise my head, but before I could do so, a calm voice reached my ears.
“…..You’re lucky.”
Words with an inexplicable meaning.
“Because a single apology can end it all.”
“Euseniel.”
“Do you know what people are saying?”
As I rose to my feet, I saw a crack in the mask.
“Abandoned Hardland.”
Her words twisted my beloved lips, and I sensed something terribly wrong in the unfamiliar sight before me. It felt like a coldness was creeping up along my bare feet, running up my calves.
“Another rejected Hardland, Euseniel Hardland, used and abandoned by the Emperor.”
Despite the cruel words, her voice remained composed.
“Because of you!”
Her previously calm demeanor suddenly turned into an outburst, and her voice grew more intense. It was the first time I had seen her like this. I was too shocked to respond.
“Because of you, our family was driven out of Alin, and we’re still being pointed at!”
The fragments of her mask fell.
Her exposed face was distorted by deep and profound wounds. Her once-bright eyes were now clouded with pain.
“But you’re the Emperor, so a simple apology will make it all go away, right?”
It’s not like that, Euseniel.
“I bet you’re enjoying being Emperor. Just say sorry, and it’ll all be over.”
