I Don't Need the Grand Duke's Regret - Chapter 59
“Finally, you’ve woken up.”
Armilla’s body jolted at the deep, resonant tone. Ricardo spoke in a casual manner.
“If you had awakened just one day later, the doctor’s head would have rolled.”
Armilla’s heart chilled at the casually uttered ominous words.
He is cruel. She found herself questioning how she could have loved such a person, to the point of asking her past self.
Armilla gestured to Luce to leave, signaling that she should go out. She was afraid that Ricardo’s anger might turn towards Luce.
“Lady Armiraaa….”
While fearing the Duke, Luce hesitated to leave the bedside. Sensing Luce’s concern, Armilla spoke in a gentle tone.
“I’m fine, Luce. Just go out for a moment.”
“Yes….”
Responding to Armilla’s comforting words, Luce left the Black Room. As the door closed and Luce’s footsteps faded away, Ricardo continued to gaze at Armilla with a chilling look.
Amidst the sounds of crackling logs and the creaking of windows in the wind, Armilla clutched the blanket tightly.
Since entering the room, Ricardo hadn’t taken his eyes off Armilla. His relentless gaze felt suffocating. Faced with his persistent gaze, she wanted to apologize for clinging to him, for the mistakes she made.
But Armilla couldn’t do that. She had something she had to say.
To protect what is precious, she must speak up.
Clutching her belly with the hand that had held the blanket, Armilla summoned courage and opened her mouth.
“I…”
As Armilla started to speak, Ricardo’s sharp gaze intensified. In the piercing scrutiny, Armilla struggled to voice her words.
“I want to leave this place.”
“So?”
Ricardo replied nonchalantly. Armilla looked up in surprise. At that moment, the man with a handsome face came into view. Approaching slowly beside the bed, he spoke.
“If this is some act to attract my attention, finish it here. It’s not amusing.”
Ricardo casually spoke as he sat on the bed. As the large-framed man sat down, the mattress swayed, causing Armilla’s body to tremble.
Quickly grabbing the sheet to steady herself, Armilla felt a chilly voice penetrate her ears.
“Have you forgotten? You promised to give me everything.”
Fingers slipped through her red hair, gripping her like a predator ready to devour its prey. Purple eyes gleamed like a beast.
“You belong to me.”
“No!”
Terrified, Armilla instinctively pushed away Ricardo’s hand. The atmosphere between them sharpened instantly in response to her resistance.
Ricardo looked at the hand that was pushed away and slowly withdrew it. Meanwhile, his leaning figure toward Armilla also quietly pulled back. His possessive gaze remained unchanged.
“I gave you a choice. You agreed to become my wife and you’re the one who said you’d be faithful to me only.”
“It was a deal.”
“…What?”
Ricardo questioned her with a perplexed expression. Armilla spoke with a trembling voice.
“Your Grace got what you wanted, so now please give me what I want.”
“You said you wanted to be by my side.”
“Not anymore.”
Armilla shook her head to Ricardo’s words. She looked at him with a determined gaze.
“I want to leave. Please let me go.”
“No.”
Ricardo coldly cut in, rising from his seat without looking at Armilla. He walked confidently towards the door and swung it open.
Standing there alongside Missus Catarina was the doctor.
Ricardo addressed the doctor with a chilling tone.
“Examine her well. She’s not in good condition. Judging by her nonsensical talk…”
“Your Grace!”
Armilla, bewildered, shouted at Ricardo. He dismissed her earnest plea as nonsense and turned away.
“The deal ended the moment you tried to escape. You’re my wife until I release you.”
Making his declaration, Ricardo moved away. Armilla stared at his broad back with eyes filled with despair.
The person who had plunged her into deep despair was now distancing himself. Armilla’s emotions seemed to not matter to him.

The doctor thoroughly examined Armilla, inspecting her eyelids, checking her body temperature, and checked her pulse.
“To awaken you, I used strong medicine, so moving will be difficult for a while. If you consistently take supplements and nourishing food, you’ll recover soon, so don’t worry too much.”
The doctor took out a piece of paper from his medical bag and handed it to Missus Catarina.
“Please give this to the head chef. It’s a list of ingredients the patient should avoid while taking the medicine.”
“Understood.”
As Missus Catarina received the paper, her gaze briefly met Armilla’s. She looked like she wanted to say something to Armilla. Even without hearing her words, Armilla could roughly guess.
Certainly, Missus Catarina probably wanted to reprimand Armilla. She had dared to defy the Grand Duke’s intentions.
Or maybe it was sympathy.
The doctor’s voice came to Armilla, who had been lost in thought bitterly.
“This time, I have become the Grand Duchess’ personal doctor. I’ll formally introduce myself. I am Ugo Eustaquio
“Please take care of me, Ugo.”
Armilla replied, slowly blinking her eyes. Ugo carefully observed to see if the chief maid had left then looked at Armilla. At the peculiar act, she tilted her head.
“What’s wrong?”
“Did you know?”
“Know what…”
Armilla was about to answer his ambiguous question, but froze.
