I Don't Need the Grand Duke's Regret - Chapter 50
Chapter 50

Armilla’s eyes sank into darkness at Ricardo’s firm words. She stared blankly at the man turning away from her. As she observed his broad back, tears streamed down her face. As clear droplets descended along her cheek, the heavy footsteps gradually faded away.
Eventually, as the door opened and closed, Nasir’s urgent voice faintly echoed.
“Your Excellency! What has happened?”
“Dismiss the gardener in the east building. Also, confine the Grand Duchess to the Red Room for a while. No one should meet her until I return from the mountains……”
Ricardo’s voice giving instructions to Nasir became distant. He was talking and walking down the corridor at the same time.
Seated at the table, Armilla clutched her lower abdomen. Her stomach tightened.
“Huh, it hurts…”
Armilla curled up with a contorted face. The pain that she had suppressed during the conversation with Ricardo, surged at once.
“Ugh…”
Armilla groaned, beads of cold sweat forming on her forehead.
Her body shivered. It was cold. It was odd. This was undoubtedly a warm place, yet it felt cold.
Armilla coughed softly and then her body flinched. As she moved, a pain beyond the body ache from the act with Ricardo coursed through her entire being.
Armilla huddled down and rested her head on the table. In her view, white lilies swayed and gradually faded away. Armilla closed her eyes, immersed in deep regret.
Ricardo. My master, my husband.
I shouldn’t have loved you.
If I hadn’t loved you, if I hadn’t depended on you.
No, if I hadn’t met you. If that were the case, I wouldn’t be suffering like this.
But everything was already too late. Armilla had already met Ricardo, depended on him, and loved him.
There was no turning back.

“What on earth did she do to be confined? She should be kicked out. Oh, the Red Room.”
“Right. There, the previous Grand Duchess…”
“Hush! Be quiet! Don’t talk nonsense!”
“Alright. Let’s go.”
The voices from beyond the door quickly faded. It seemed like the maids were hurrying their steps.
Armilla, who had been leaning against the door, opened her eyes. The vitality had disappeared from her green eyes, leaving them darkened.
Armilla weakly brought her knees together. The maids’ murmuring was now familiar. Armilla had always been the subject of people’s gossip. The content had changed from jealousy and envy to contempt and sympathy.
Armilla slowly lifted her now pale face. She was now in a place she had only heard rumors about—the ‘Red Room’.
The Red Room was the room used by the former Grand Duchess.
But now, this room was no longer the ‘Grand Duchess’s room’ of the mansion.
As Luce had mentioned, the Red Room was being referred to as the haunted room of Renato.
Even Armilla had never been to the Red Room before. Therefore, when she opened her eyes, she couldn’t help but be shocked by the scene that unfolded before her.
Like other rooms in the Renato mansion, the Red Room was painted in a color befitting its name. However, there were many ominous corners despite the decorations.
Firstly, the walls. The wallpaper, which had traces of picture frames attached to it, was torn in lines, as if someone had tried to scratch it off.
Above the wallpaper, red paint was splattered, resembling bloodstains.
Armilla, who was staring at the wall, suddenly flinched. Her gaze moved towards the window with iron bars. The large window was completely filled with sharp bars, creating a prison-like atmosphere.
‘I’m dizzy…’
Armilla, looking at the rattling window and the torn red curtains in front of it, furrowed her brow.
While other rooms had a harmonious combination of accent colors and cream colors, this one was entirely red, hurting the eyes
Moreover, there was not a single piece of furniture in good condition. The bed had springs sticking out, and the chair had a broken leg.
On the floor, shards of a broken mirror were scattered, reflecting the red light everywhere, making the atmosphere even more disorienting.
If Ricardo wanted to drive Armilla insane, he had chosen a very suitable place.
As Armilla looked around the room, she rested her head on her knees.
After collapsing, when she regained consciousness, she found herself here. At least her clothes were properly changed, but her body had not been treated after being held in such a harsh manner.
Perhaps due to this, for the first three days, she suffered from a high fever.
Knock, knock.
“Lady Armira!”
Armilla, who had been holding her breath and crouching, raised her head at the familiar voice. She clung to the door and spoke tensely.
“Luce? Is it Luce!”
“Yes. I’ll bring something to eat later. Are you feeling better today?”
Hearing the affectionate whisper, Armilla formed a faint smile.
If it weren’t for Luce, she might have gone crazy long ago. She was so shocked when she woke up.
At first, Armilla didn’t even know if this was Renato. She trembled, wondering if Ricardo had abandoned her.
In shock, Armilla tried to go outside, but the tightly locked door didn’t budge.
Unable to do anything, she hung on the slight crack in the door like a mouse hole, trying to find someone. However, no one came.
During that time, Luce came and explained the situation. With clumsy words, Luce informed Armilla.
Thanks to that, Armilla learned that this place was the ‘Red Room,’ and Ricardo had ordered Armilla to be confined here, while he had gone to catch the beast in the mountains.
