Chapter 22.1
April watched the conversation between the two people with a happy face.
‘I’m glad Sophia has regained her confidence.’
She was confident that Sophia’s reputation would continue to rise as they sold this cake at the cafe that was about to be open. Perhaps it would be her way of getting back at the imperial head chef who ignored her.
‘Then, there’s a more certain way to get revenge.’
April clapped her hands to get their attention.
“Then, why don’t we name this cake after Sophia and call it ‘Sacher-Torte’?”
‘Sacher’ from Sophia’s middle name and ‘Torte,’ meaning a cake with cream or jam sandwiched between sponge layers—so it was named Sacher-Torte. If this Sacher-Torte became famous in the capital, it would even reach the ears of those in the imperial kitchen. Then, they would find out that Sophia Sacher, who had left, was doing well.
Just the thought of it was a thrilling conclusion.
Sophia widened her eyes as if surprised.
“Can, can I put my name on this cake? It’s just a simple apricot jam ganache cake.”
Unlike when she proudly announced that she had developed the new menu earlier, she didn’t look so confident now.
Seeing that, April quickly denied her words.
“No, it’s not! It’s definitely a cake worth naming!”
“…Really?”
Hans agreed.
“That’s right. This cake is definitely worth naming after Miss Sacher.”
Sophia blushed shyly.
“Well then, starting today, I’m going to name this cake Sacher-Torte.”
At that moment, Asher, who had suddenly devoured a piece of cake, raised a fork covered in chocolate and shouted.
“Sounds good!”

After presenting the amazing Sacher-Torte, Sophia announced that she would be leaving for her hometown right away.
“I haven’t had the chance to visit my hometown because of work, so I’ll take this opportunity to go.”
Even though April worried that Sophia might regret her choice, seeing her now, smiling brightly, unlike when they first met at the palace, made her feel that she had made the right decision in hiring her.
‘I need to make sure she doesn’t regret it… I need to work hard and open the cafe as soon as possible, for my sake and for Sophia’s.’
While she waved her hands with that thought in mind, Asher, standing beside her, waved his hand shyly as well.
“See you in a month.”
“I’ll be back.”
“You must come back.”
Sophia responded quickly to the jokingly exchanged words.
“I’ll definitely come back. I want to let people know about the cake named after me. My parents will be delighted to hear this news, too.”
Saying so, she eventually boarded the carriage with a radiant smile.
April was lost in thought as she watched the carriage moving away.
‘…Now, all that’s left are the alchemist and the barista.’
However, for some reason, she was feeling uneasy that it wouldn’t be as smooth this time.
‘It’s probably just unnecessary worry.’
April entered the mansion, holding the hand of Asher, who looked up at her worriedly, wondering what was going on.

Regardless of her ominous feelings, she felt very happy, thanks to meeting Sophia. So today, she decided to make a slightly different coffee for Claude.
‘Let’s make drip coffee in front of him.’
Rather than espresso, which was brewed under high pressure, hand drip was a method of extracting through hot water. And unlike espresso, it has a slightly cleaner flavor because there was no oil.
‘Plus, it’s easier to adjust the taste to one’s preference.’
Putting a dripper, a slender and long-necked kettle, hot water, and finely ground coffee beans onto the mobile trolley, she headed to Claude’s office. After she knocked and heard a voice from inside saying to come in, April cautiously opened the door and entered.
As he was looking at documents, Claude opened his mouth without even glancing at her as she wheeled the trolley inside.
“Are you here to make coffee?”
“How did you know it was me?”
“I can tell from the sound of footsteps. You’re less cautious than the employers.”
“Ah…”
April blushed slightly and placed a plate on the tea table.
Certainly, the employees here were even more cautious than those from other mansions in order to avoid upsetting the sensitive Claude.
On the other hand, she had never been taught to walk properly. While she may have been the noble ‘April Renoen,’ the person inside was ‘Yoon Min-ah,’ who was just an ordinary South Korean university student. So, while she had the memories of ‘April Renoen’ and remembered it in her head, her body wouldn’t follow.
Therefore, there were bound to be differences.
“I’m sorry. I’ll be more careful next time.”
“I didn’t mean it in that way. You can just go on the way you are.”
‘Well, if that was the case.’
The next moment, she nonchalantly placed the plate with Sacher-Torte in front of him. Claude, who had not taken his eyes off the documents, finally raised his head.
“But what’s this?”
“It’s called Sacher-Torte.”
April introduced it proudly at the question. She had expected Claude to show interest in the new menu.
“It’s a name I’ve never heard before.”
However, that was the extent of his reaction. April, who had expected some reaction, even if not as enthusiastic as Hans or Asher, muttered blankly.
“Is that all you have to say?”
“What kind of reaction should I have, then?”
As he asked that, Claude put down his pen and tapped his desk with his fingers while staring intently at her. Despite this, his expression remained impassive.
April couldn’t bear his intense gaze and lowered her head.
