I Became the Villain's Master - Chapter 68
Chapter 68
‘I believe she has ties to the Cernia Viscountcy. How did she become acquainted with Kiris?’
Cedric trusted his instincts. Surely, further investigation would reveal the reason behind the disruption of their plans.
“…Understood, Your Highness.”
Haidel bowed deeply and retreated. Cedric clicked his tongue as he watched the man vanish into the shadows.
He recalled the banquet held a few days prior. It had been intended to demonstrate the continued dominance of the imperial authority, but it had been a miscalculation. Instead, it had drawn the attention of the nobles to Kiris.
‘That must never come to pass.’
Cedric clenched his fists until the veins stood out. Imperial authority must prevail at all costs. It was what he desired.
His gaze fell upon the wilted wreath resting on the corner of his desk. It was a memento from his childhood, lovingly crafted by his younger sister, Lenea.
“Lenea…”
He could still see her, smiling brightly, in his dreams. Why, after all this time, could he not erase her from his mind? Guilt gnawed at his heart.
“Just… wait a little longer.”
He needed to grow stronger. Strong enough to make her proud, wherever she may be.
Darkness swirled around Cedric, silent and predatory.

“Snow. Can’t you speak?”
“Kiing!”
Snow bristled as if it was angry. After visiting the temple, I had tried to communicate with Snow whenever I had time.
Since I didn’t know how, I tried holding Snow in my arms and rubbing its cheeks, but it was no use.
In the end, Snow slipped out of my arms and disappeared into the garden.
“What should I do?”
I couldn’t understand at all how to manifest divine power. I tried concentrating on the tips of my fingers and praying, but there was no effect.
‘More than that, the name Snow is beautiful, yet it doesn’t recognize it…….’
The voice that said the name I gave it was rustic echoed in my ears as if it were an echo.
I pouted sullenly and looked at Kiris, who was mending the fabric.
“Kiris. Can’t I do it? If it becomes known that the Tower Lord is doing such things, I’ll…….”
After visiting the temple, Kiris had stayed at home all the time. He lived in the room where Louis had stayed without any concern, and I couldn’t say anything.
How could I restrain Kiris, who was no different from a real authority?
I was curious about Louis’ whereabouts, but Kiris kept saying he was fine, so I couldn’t ask any more.
“Mistress, please rest. I’ll do it. And there will be no one in the world who will insult you.”
Kiris raised his eyebrows and shook his head.
I felt a chill, but it seemed like an illusion. I hurriedly smiled awkwardly and said, “Ahahaha! Kiris, but it’s something I get paid to do.”
“Because it’s something you do, I need to help.”
Kiris stroked my outstretched fingers and smiled. I pulled myself together.
‘After all, it’s a world where attractiveness are everything…’
In the end, I held a white flag and watched Kiris work from afar.
It was amazing because the mending with magic seemed like a magic trick.
Putting aside my admiration, I mentioned the news I had heard from Mary about the Cernia family.
“By the way, is it true that my family is in debt?”
Kiris stopped mending for a moment and looked at me.
“Yes. The Viscount has a huge gambling debt, and I don’t think he can pay it back. Why, are you worried?”
“Hmm…. That’s not it. I’m just a little concerned.”
A few days ago, another letter came from Viscount Cernia’s family. I had intended to ignore this one as well, but the contents of the letter I had glimpsed were completely different from usual.
It was a desperate plea for help from someone who was on the verge of ruin.
I found that disgusting behavior a little funny. It was because I could see that he was trying to use me to the end.
“What are you going to do, Mistress? Should I make it so that they can never approach you again?”
“No, that’s not it. Well, it’s the family’s fault, so there’s nothing for me to do.”
His expression hardened slightly as if he didn’t like it, but it was the truth.
“I’m already independent, and I have no obligation to help my family.”
If he had knelt down and begged for forgiveness, I could have helped him a little, but that was unlikely.
And even if he did, I had no intention of forgiving him.
“Mistress.”
Kiris looked sharply at the entrance and twisted her lips.
I felt a sense of incongruity at that sight and tilted my head.
“What’s wrong. Kiris?”
At the same time, the doorbell rang.
“Who is it? There’s no one who would come at this hour.”
As I was about to go and check who it was, Kiris gently grabbed my wrist and stopped me.
“Don’t open it.”
It didn’t take long for me to understand what he meant.
A familiar voice could be heard from the entrance.
“Sister.”
I was startled and opened my eyes wide at the person, who was visible through the crack in the door.
“You’re here, so open the door.”
“Leila…?”
It was my younger sister, Leila, with her wheat-colored hair and dark blue eyes.
