I Became the Villain's Master - Chapter 55
Chapter 55
The endlessly high ceiling and the majestic banquet hall were exceptionally splendid. There were signs of excessive spending everywhere.
‘It seems like money is being used like water here.’
My hands trembled in the luxurious banquet hall. It was overwhelming for a petty bourgeois like me.
As I entered the banquet hall escorted by Kiris, countless eyes focused on us.
‘I expected this, but it’s still too overwhelming.’
I instinctively lowered my gaze. I didn’t know where to put myself with so much attention.
“Oh my, the Tower Lord has arrived in person.”
“Isn’t that the legendary Tower Lord I’ve only heard stories about?”
“But who’s his partner? I’ve never seen her before.”
The nobles chattered persistently, glancing at Kiris.
Of course.
Right now, Kiris was like a walking chandelier.
Even at my house, we don’t need to turn on the lights, and now, he’s bright enough to light up the entire place.
“Are you nervous, Mistress?”
“Um, a little.”
I felt nervous for no reason and held Kiris’ hand tightly.
‘But it seems like they don’t know who I am.’
This much attention was fine. I was just awkward because it was the first time I had received so much attention.
When Kiris frowned and looked around, the nobles who were trying to approach us backed away with pale faces.
‘As expected of a villain.’
I nodded inwardly at the overwhelming aura of the villain-wannabe. Even just looking at his side profile, he exuded an extraordinary presence, as if to say, ‘I’m the villain.’
A little later, when all the nobles arrived, the large banquet hall felt jam-packed.
Since it was the last day of the banquet, everyone came in splendid outfits.
‘Fortunately, I won’t stand out that much.’
I was worried because my dress was fancy, but my outfit was only slightly above average, so I didn’t have to worry.
‘Yesterday was the debutante ball, and today is the after-party and banquet, right?’
I really wanted to see the original female lead’s debutante ball, but I couldn’t break Kiris’ will, who wanted to attend only the last day.
“Everyone is here.”
When there were no more nobles entering, Cedric, who was sitting at the head table, slowly rose.
The emperor was not present due to his poor health.
“First, for the prosperity of the Sestronia Empire…”
Cedric gave a stiff congratulatory speech, which included a message congratulating Kiris, the Tower Lord, on his return.
Then, as expected, everyone’s gaze turned to Kiris. It was a mixture of admiration, reverence, and respect.
“Tsk.”
Kiris clicked his tongue as if he didn’t like it, and Cedric finished speaking.
“I hope you enjoy the last banquet.”
Cedric then announced the start of the banquet. At the same time, magnificent music began to play from the orchestra.
At that moment, I made eye contact with Cedric, and he smiled faintly. At the same time, I heard gasps from all around me.
I had overlooked the fact that there was another walking chandelier.
‘Oh, my heart!’
I quickly lowered my head and pretended to greet him. Cedric had never met me before, so why was he acting like he knew me?
‘And inviting me to the banquet.’
Was he trying to get to know me better because he’s curious about Kiris, who he’s not on good terms with?
I don’t know.
Anyway, I wasn’t prepared for this, so when Cedric smiled at me, it was hard to handle.
“Where are you looking, Mistress?”
“Oh, it’s nothing.”
Fortunately, it didn’t take long to regain my composure, perhaps because I had adapted to Kiris’ appearance.
“Yes? The banquet hall is more splendid than I thought, so I was surprised.”
“This is nothing. The Magic Tower is better.”
“Really? I’m curious.”
“Come visit me next time. You’re always welcome, Mistress.”
“Oh my.”
Just then, a velvety voice cut in between us.
“You really came.”
“Greetings, Your Highness the Crown Prince.”
I was momentarily flustered, but I greeted him according to etiquette. Then, Cedric looked at me with interest.
“The lady looks a little different. Well, I won’t ask for the details.”
“Thank you, Your Highness.”
Cedric’s gaze slowly turned to Kiris.
“Kiris, I sincerely congratulate you on your return to the Magic Tower.”
“…Why did you call me to the banquet?”
“Actually, there is something I would like to discuss with you. I thought it would be better if you came in person. Follow me for a moment.”
