I Became the Villain's Master - Chapter 128
Chapter 128
I replayed all my interactions with Noctis, but nothing particularly egregious came to mind.
“There were various reasons for keeping my identity hidden… but I no longer see the need.” Noctis’s serious expression told me this was a grave matter.
“I heard the Magic Tower and the Temple are working together. Is this related to that?”
“Yes, it is.”
Noctis chose his words carefully, then looked at me directly.
“The Temple formally requests your assistance, Lady Rosette.”
“Me? You want my help?” I pointed at myself, tilting my head. The Pope was asking for my help?
“Kiing!”
Snow leaped from my arms and approached the Pope.
“[Yes, Mistress. It’s your turn.]”
‘What can I possibly do?’
“[You know, Mistress. You were chosen by God Moreus.]”
I was momentarily speechless. The dark magic users were targeting me. And the monsters were acting strangely.
“That’s right.”
Things I’d never imagined were happening to me, and I had a growing suspicion.
‘That I’m needed.’
“Yes, I’ll help you.” My firm reply made Noctis’s eyes widen slightly.
“Are you certain you can help?”
“I knew it. I knew I was the key to stopping this.”
“Then… Lady Rosette, are you aware of the prophecy that was received some time ago?”
“Yes. You mentioned a prophecy, but you didn’t tell me what it said.”
Noctis stroked the smooth, white marble as he spoke.
“Chaos has not been extinguished. Let there be light.”
“That’s…?”
“Yes. That is the prophecy. God has sent us a message. You, Lady Rosette, can stop the chaos.”
Noctis’s words made me realize the gravity of the situation. So, God Moreus had intended for me to receive divine power from the beginning? It all seemed so strange. Was my transmigration into this unfinished novel somehow connected to all of this?
‘If I am the light… was I sent here to save this world?’
And if I saved the Empire, would I be able to return to my original world? My mind raced.
“Lady Rosette?”
“Oh, it’s nothing. Just something I was pondering.”
I forced a smile and shook my head as if nothing was wrong. Thankfully, Noctis didn’t press the matter.
“Then, Lady Rosette, there’s something I must show you.”
“What is it?”
Noctis pulled two books from the middle of the second shelf and took five steps back. He then channeled divine power into the base of the bookshelf, and a change began to occur.
Creak.
“Where are we?”
It was a hidden chamber. A secret room! I thought only the Imperial Palace had these, but it seemed the Temple had one as well. As I stared in wonder, Noctis smiled faintly and extended his hand.
“Follow me, Lady Rosette.”
I followed him down a narrow staircase, emerging into a well-maintained corridor of white marble, a stark contrast to the entrance.
“This is where the sacred artifacts are kept. No one has entered this place, but it remains pristine through divine power.” Noctis gestured around as he continued, “This is the heart of the Temple.”
“But why are you showing me the sacred artifacts? Is it related to the prophecy?”
Noctis silently presented something to me.
“This is it.”
I gasped at the sight.
“This is…?”
. The title, written in the Imperial language, shimmered on the cover.
Swoosh!
My hand reached out involuntarily, and the book emitted a light that enveloped me. Then, everything went black.
