Side Story 6

Despite the cold, the sun made it less chilly outside, and the snow from the night before sparkled, making everything look even more beautiful.
The northern villa was a small but ornate palace. Its white marble and gold decorations were breathtaking.
Listening to Helios’s explanations as they toured the palace, Sera finally headed to the garden at the back of the palace.
“They haven’t cleared the snow there yet, so be careful. Your feet will sink into it.”
True to his words, after passing through a large archway, they found themselves in a world blanketed with untouched white snow. The vast garden reflected the bright white light, almost blinding. Snow flowers had bloomed on the long branches, piled high with the night’s snow.
It was a picture-perfect scene, like a world out of a fairy tale.
“Do you want to go for a walk?”
Helios nodded towards the snow-covered garden.
With a satisfied smile, Sera tightly grasped Helios’s hand. Seeing so much snow after a long time, she felt happy.
Crunch, crunch.
With each step through the snow, their feet sank, making a crunching sound. Forgetting the cold, Sera watched the two sets of footprints they left on the white canvas.
“Helios, there’s something I’ve always wanted to do.”
Sera said to Helios, who was walking ahead.
Without turning around, Helios asked,
“What is it?”
“Wait and see.”
Sera let go of Helios’s hand, afraid he might catch on.
Running through the deep snow was difficult as her feet kept sinking, but she managed to put some distance between them and quickly started forming a snowball.
“Sera?”
Helios looked puzzled as he watched her run away.
With a beaming smile, Sera turned around once she had formed the snowball to her satisfaction.
“This!”
And with all her might, she threw the snowball.
But it lacked strength and fell to the ground before it could hit Helios.
Sera looked embarrassed, while Helios burst out laughing.
“Oh, I was supposed to hit you…”
“Is this a challenge?”
From that moment, Helios began to make snowballs as well. Not to be outdone, Sera did the same, but Helios was much faster with his hands and feet.
“Eek! Heli! Stop it!”
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Even though the snowballs hit, they didn’t hurt. Each one shattered on impact, scattering sparkling powder.
When her cape was entirely covered in snow, Helios cornered the fleeing Sera with his arms.
“Finally caught you.”
“No way!”
Sera struggled to escape Helios’s grip. Laughing heartily, she realized she couldn’t break free from his strong hold and finally decided to throw herself sideways.
Thump.
Sera and Helios fell into the snow together.
“Are you okay?”
“Yes.”
Sera quickly turned to look at Helios, who was holding her. Both their clothes and faces were covered in cold snow.
“We’re snowmen now.”
“You too.”
“But you know what, Heli?”
“What?”
“Never let your guard down.”
Seizing the opportunity, Sera threw a handful of snow at Helios.
“Sera!”
Helios shouted.
As his grip weakened, Sera took the chance to escape. She got up energetically and started running but quickly fell forward into the snow.
“Good heavens, Sera!”
Without even thinking to brush himself off, Helios ran over and lifted her up. His face turned pale with worry as he quickly turned her to face him.
Sera was giggling, her face bright red.
The quiet palace was filled with the sound of their laughter.
“I fell because I was out of strength.”
“Really… You scared me.”
Sera leaned against Helios, breathing heavily. Despite the cold snow, her breath was hot from the vigorous play.
“This is fun. Now I understand why the children love snowball fights.”
“Are you satisfied?”
“Of course.”
Sera and Helios caught their breath and walked around the garden, leaving footprints in the snow.
After circling the garden, they started making a snowman. The snow was perfect for packing, and the snowballs grew quickly.
Sera and Helios worked hard together to roll a very heavy snowball, and after a while, they had made a huge snowman.
“It needs some decorations.”
Although the snowman was large and impressive, it looked plain, so Sera murmured.
Helios then ordered a distant knight to bring two large sticks.
The knight, surprised by the size of the snowman, quickly composed himself and soon returned with sticks and a carrot.
“Eyes.”
“Nose.”
“Lips.”
Sera and Helios completed the snowman’s face step by step and finally added arms on both sides.
They each took off their gloves and scarves and put them on the snowman.
The result was a much larger and more impressive snowman than they had expected.
As the sun set and lights began to illuminate the palace, the knights came to find Helios and Sera.
They were momentarily taken aback by the imposing size of the snowman the couple had built.
