“Your Highnesses?”
“Rosé, Ferre?”
Sera and Helios looked at Rosé and Ferre, who were sitting on the bed with an unusually proper posture, with puzzled expressions.
Normally, the children would rush in, but today, they were sitting quietly on the bed, hands clasped together, waiting for them.
Uncharacteristic behavior from Rosé and Ferre always raised anxiety. What kind of mischief were they cooking up this time?
Sera and Helios felt a slight unease as their minds raced, wondering what plans the two were hatching.
“What’s going on?”
Sera cautiously asked the twins.
Rosé and Ferre, looking at each other with a mischievous glint in their eyes, giggled.
“Nothing. Really.”
The children answered simultaneously, looking alternately at Sera and Helios.
Their gazes gradually descended, lingering on the tips of Sera and Helios’s slightly touching pinky fingers.
Sera and Helios, startled by the thought that they might have been caught, subtly withdrew their hands. However, the tiny pink corners of the children’s mouths went up furtively.
“We’re just thinking why Sera’s coming to visit more these days. Why does Sera come to the palace so often now?”
Unbeknownst to them, Ferre’s white and adorable teeth were revealed. The chuckling laughter and the glint in his eyes somehow differed from his usual expressions.
As if…
Sera and Helios’s gazes met.
‘The same look as Rosé.’
‘The same expression as Her Highness Rosé!’
The two turned their heads again to observe Rosé and Ferre.
The twins raised and lowered their round shoulders as if saying, ‘We know everything.’
Feeling a bit uneasy about being discovered, Sera couldn’t help but offer a somewhat awkward explanation.
“I’ve been entrusted with advising on His Majesty’s affairs. And when I expressed the desire to see Your Highnesses, His Majesty graciously allowed it.”
“Uh-huh, I guess so.”
“I thought so, too. Yup.”
The twins’ responses seemed skeptical, and Helios exchanged a puzzled glance with Sera. To divert their attention, Sera introduced a new topic.
“I heard you’ve been taking magic and swordsmanship lessons lately.”
“Yes, isn’t that right? Rosé, Ferre. Miss Popo is curious, so how about showing her a little?”
“Magic?”
“Swordsmanship?”
Whether Helios intentionally supported Sera’s statement or not, the children—being children—immediately focused their attention on the new topic they liked.
“Yeah! Ferre and I are learning magic and swordsmanship!”
“Sera! Sera! Can Rosé and I show you the levitation spell we learned today?”
Excitedly, the children jumped off the bed to demonstrate a simple magic spell.
Sera and Helios intentionally applauded loudly and praised them for their excellent performance. However, it didn’t last long.
Rosé and Ferre, both oddly excited, were clearly eager to send Sera and Helios away as soon as possible.
“Quick, go away you both.”
“Huh? Go away?”
“We used too much magic with Ferre, and we’re tired.”
“We want to go to sleep quickly.”
“Are you sure, Rosé, Ferre?”
Even if it was Rosé, it was understandable, but Ferre shouldn’t be acting like this as well.
Sera and Helios exchanged a complicated look of ‘What’s going on?’ But, whether it was sincere or not, the twins comfortably covered themselves with the blanket.
As Sera and Helios failed to notice their brewing plans, the twins’ lips revealed a subtle smile.
Then, Helios and Sera thought, what could they do when the little ones were telling them to go away quickly?
At the end of it as well, the anticipation of spending a little more time together with each other, setting aside the usual behavior of the twins, was more exhilarating than anything else.
That’s how the two new lovers felt.
With sweet wishes for good dreams, Sera and Helios said their goodbyes and left the room.
As the lights went out, and darkness filled the room, Rosé and Ferre opened their eyes.
They quickly pushed away the covers and rushed to the window to see where their older brother and Sera had gone.
The little foreheads of the mischievous twins pressed against the cold window.
“Can you see where they’re going, Ferre?”
Rosé wrinkled her forehead, creating more creases on her forehead as if it would help her see better.
“Um. It seems like they’re going in that direction? Going to the place where we go see the stars?”
Ferre also murmured with a serious face.
Watching a bit more to make sure where Sera and Helios were heading, the two stepped away from the window only after confirming.
Then, without a word, they burst into laughter.
“Did you see it?”
“Yeah, I saw it.”
“Helios Hyung and Sera’s fingers.”
“Kyaah, so embarrassing!”
Rosé and Ferre held up their fingers, intertwined them, touched, and played a little prank on each other.
After a few times of entwining their fingers, the two nodded their heads. A sense of determination passed over their faces.
“Now, shall we begin our operation?”
“Yes.”
Rosé forcefully opened the window. The chilly autumn wind rushed in, tousling their long silver and golden hair.
Looking down below, Rosé and Ferre tightly held hands at the dizzying height.
“Since we learned the landing spell today.”
“We can safely go down.”
“As long as we avoid the knights’ eyes.”
“We might be able to go down without being noticed.”
And then, the two climbed onto the windowsill.
They planned to secretly follow in the footsteps of Sera and Helios tonight.
