Chapter 220

‘Just what is going on here…’
Sera blinked several times.
This went on for a while, but the three people in front of her did not disappear. They were not illusions.
“Your Majesty and Your Highnesses, it is such an honor to meet you all here. I am Richard Peters.”
As Sera was staring blankly at Helios, Richard bowed deeply to greet him and the twins.
Though she hesitated, Sera soon followed Richard’s example carefully and acted according to proper courtesy.
The gaze looking down at her from above seemed as sharp as an arrow.
“Seeeraaaaaaa! I missed you!”
“Seeraa! I missed you even more than Rosé!”
Meanwhile, Rosé and Ferre smiled broadly and jumped into Sera’s arms.
It was an unexpected meeting, but Sera hugged them readily. It was nice to see them again, really, and she answered them with an equally bright smile.
“Me, too. It’s so nice to see Your Highnesses again after so long, even if we exchanged letters every day.”
The twins nuzzled their soft cheeks against Sera’s while they hugged her very tightly.
Richard’s eyes went wide open as he watched this. He wasn’t expecting to see that Sera actually had such a close relationship with the imperial prince and princess.
“I should have gone to see you all first. I apologize for making you come all the way here, Your Majesty.”
Sera wanted to focus on the twins more, but she bowed her head because it bothered her to see Helios in front of her here.
She had seen him from afar, but as they were meeting for the first time after a month, Sera confirmed that Helios was still as beautiful as ever.
With silver hair that sparkled like starlight and purple eyes that resembled the deep, night sky, he was radiant.
Her memories were refreshed in an instant—in reality, he was much more beautiful than she had imagined alone.
“It’s quite alright. When I asked who Rosé and Ferre went out to meet, I didn’t expect that it’d be you, Miss Popo. Are you also here to watch the opera today?”
Helios asked in a low voice.
Sera was about to answer, but she soon noticed that Helios’s eyes were lingering on the bouquet that Richard had given her. She smiled awkwardly.
‘There’s nothing for me to be embarrassed about though.’
Nonetheless, it was only natural for her to feel a bit embarrassed and awkward as she had been caught in the middle of a date by the person she had confessed to not long ago.
Still, he was talking to her as he usually did, like nothing ever happened. She couldn’t decide whether this was fortunate or unfortunate.
Even as she was acting no differently than him, Sera still felt awkward around him. All she could think about was wishing that Helios would leave as soon as possible.
“I asked Miss Popo out on a first date today.”
As Sera was hesitating to speak, Richard volunteered this answer with a smile.
Perhaps knowing that Helios’s gaze was lingering on the bouquet, maybe Richard thought that Helios was asking about a rundown of the situation.
Richard’s gaze turned from Helios and settled on Sera, who she smiled at.
By experience, it was clear that those soft eyes belonged to a person who was, by all accounts, in love.
“Isn’t that right, Lady Sera?”
“Yes… Quite so, Count… but today…”
When Sera hesitated and tried to make an excuse, Richard whispered to Sera in a small voice.
“What would be the difference? We’re friends today, but isn’t it possible that we’ll be lovers at our next meeting. Don’t you think so too, Your Majesty?”
Richard now directed his smile at Helios.
Helios’s gaze was quietly cold, but he nonetheless lifted the corners of his lips.
“Of course. It is a possibility, as you said.”
The smile on Helios’s face was brighter and more handsome.
“By the way, Count. I’ve heard a lot of stories.”
Sounding harmless, Helios hummed with a soft tone.
“What do you mean, Your Majesty?”
“I was wondering if it had worked out well.”
“What are you talking about…”
“It seems like those friends of yours who attended the party at the County recently have been harboring many worries about you, County.”
At that moment, Richard flinched. His gaze immediately shot towards Sera, and his face turned red.
“Your… Majesty. The… friends… you speak of. What… What kind of worries are you talking about? It’s all because we’re close…”
Try as he might to pretend to be calm, Richard stammered through his words. Cold sweat started dripping down the back of his neck.
As Helios was taller than Richard, he leaned down slightly and whispered into the man’s ear.
It was too quiet for others to hear, but it was very obvious how Richard’s face turned redder and redder.
The count’s eyes went wide. He looked at Helios and Sera alternately once, but he soon bowed his head much deeper than before.
“I apologize immensely, Your Majesty!”
“No need, Count.”
And right after that, Richard began to pick up his belongings hurriedly.
Not knowing what just happened here, Sera gently placed a hand on Richard’s shoulder.
“What’s wrong, Count?”
“Nothing! Nothing at all!”
Richard looked back at Sera and answered with words that sounded nearly gibberish. She took a step back in surprise.
Flustered by the turn of events, Sera could do nothing but watch as Richard rushed out of the red curtains and ran out as fast as he could.
He never looked back, not even once.
‘It’s surely because of what His Majesty said…’
Sera narrowed her eyes at Helios, who was approaching her before she knew it.
