I Became the Only Cure for My Dying Husband - Chapter 21
Chapter 11.1
“I’ll send her flowers. Prepare a bouquet of chrysanthemums. The ones my aunt likes so much.”
“Flowers always make splendid gifts. An excellent choice, master.”
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.
His aunt, Marquis Leicester, suffered from a severe pollen allergy, so a bouquet of flowers would be as deadly as poison.
Especially chrysanthemums, which triggered her worst reactions. It was the perfect “gift.”
“I’ll be sure to select the finest ones and have them delivered immediately.”
Lucion’s cold eyes gleamed as sharp as a knife’s edge.
‘My aunt doesn’t know I’m awake.’
If she did, this wouldn’t have ended here.
“Oscar, you’ve kept everything about that day strictly under wraps, right?”
“Yes, master.”
“Good. Be extra cautious, especially about that girl. Make sure nothing gets out.”
“As you command.”
If Marquis Leicester found out about Edith’s powers…
She’d stop at nothing to get rid of her.
Oscar, humming as he cleared away the poisoned food, suddenly grinned and exclaimed,
“Oh, by the way, Miss Edith just woke up.”
“And that matters to me because?”
“She’s perfectly fine, so you don’t need to worry.”
“Who’s worried?”
Lucion snorted, sharply turning away.
“…So, what’s she doing now?”
“Being scolded by His Grace.”
“Serves her right.”
Lucion muttered, a small, satisfied smile crossing his face.

Edith smiled shyly to herself, gently cradling a handkerchief in both hands.
It was Lucion’s handkerchief, now soft after being left to dry in the sun.
She thought she’d stay long enough to return it and maybe have lunch with him. Plus, she wanted to check on his condition.
She had healed him, after all. Surely he wouldn’t turn her away, right?
“Get out.”
But the second their eyes met, his order was firm. She let out a long sigh.
“…I should’ve known.”
“Then you shouldn’t have come.”
“Aren’t we supposed to be on the same side now?”
“I don’t remember agreeing to that.”
Lucion replied flatly, casting a brief glance at Edith’s cheek.
It was quick, but Edith caught it. She’d grown up watching and studying people’s expressions.
“Are you upset because I got hurt? Because I went a little overboard?”
“Who said I was upset?”
“It was my first time doing it, so I didn’t know, but I can handle it now.”
Edith passionately tried to explain, only to be completely ignored. Frustrated at the unfairness of his actions, she pressed on.
“You can’t act like this now. We even held hands that day!”
“Hey! Shut up!”
Lucion’s sharp retort drowned out the last of her words, but Oscar, standing nearby, had heard every word.
“Oh-ho, holding hands? Master Lucion, when did that happen—”
“Want to live without your tongue? Keep talking.”
“What was I saying again?”
Oscar’s expression turned innocent under Lucion’s menacing glare.
“And you! Stop spouting nonsense and zip it.”
Edith nodded, listening to Lucion’s intimidating scolding.
“Fine. I’ll just focus on treating you.”
“I’m sure my father forbade you from doing that.”
“Then we’ll keep it a secret just between us.”
Lucion pointed at Oscar.
Oscar, feeling the weight of Lucion’s gaze that said, “You don’t count as ‘us,’” quickly spun around and pressed himself against the wall.
“I am now one with the wall.”
“Quit messing around and get rid of her.”
“So I’m only useful when it comes to this, huh?”
Oscar grumbled under his breath but made his way over to Edith.
“Don’t worry, Miss Edith. I’ll escort you out politely.”
What should I do? Edith hesitated, realizing she was about to be kicked out, and looked up at Oscar with puppy dog eyes.
He clutched his chest dramatically.
“Master Lucion, I can’t do it.”
“What?”
Lucion’s scowl grew darker as Oscar began to steadily back away from Edith.
“I’ll feel like a monster! If I were to accidentally hurt someone as small and gentle as Miss Edith…”
He squeezed his eyes shut, clearly imagining some horrible scenario, and shook his head.
“I refuse to be that kind of garbage!”
“What’s wrong with him?”
Lucion muttered, his expression cold, while Edith beamed at Oscar and gave him a playful wink.
“Thank you, Oscar.”
“Protecting a lady is a gentleman’s duty.”
Oscar smiled warmly, showing a side of him few rarely saw.
Lucion squinted in distaste, his scowl deepening as though he’d just witnessed something unbearable.
“You’re disgusting.”
