I Became the Only Cure for My Dying Husband - Chapter 20
Chapter 10.2
That was definitely Lucion and Edith, but the scene was unfamiliar to her.
‘What the heck! Every time we fight, we try to kill each other, so wh-what…?!’
Heat rushed to Edith’s face, and she shook her head furiously.
“Miss Edith! Are you alright?”
“Becky?”
“I thought something terrible had happened,” Becky said, her voice shaky with worry as she sighed in relief.
“Why? Is there still something wrong with the young master?” Edith asked urgently.
‘That can’t be. I’m positive I melted all the ice around his heart…’
As Edith swung her legs over the side of the bed and tried to stand, Becky quickly grabbed her shoulders in alarm.
“Where are you going?”
“To check on the young master. You said he wasn’t doing well.”
“I wasn’t talking about Master Lucion. I was worried about you, Miss Edith.”
“Me? Why?”
Edith tilted her head, genuinely confused.
“Because I fell asleep all of a sudden? I was just taking a nap. Did that scare you?”
Becky sighed deeply as Edith casually shrugged it off as though it were nothing.
“Miss Edith, you’ve been asleep for an entire day.”
“An entire day?”
Edith blinked in surprise, glancing out the window and seeing the dark sky.
Ah, so it’s a side effect.
She finally realized that pushing herself to the limit would cause her to fall into a deep sleep afterward.
She had never pushed herself that hard before, so she hadn’t known the consequences.
‘But it’s not like I’m in pain, so does it really matter?’
She figured that sleeping off the exhaustion wasn’t too severe of a side effect.
“At this rate… I could probably use it more often without a problem.”
“No, absolutely not.”
A firm voice cut in, and Edith looked up to see Khalid entering the room.
He sat beside her, arms crossed, his expression leaving no room for argument.
“I want you to stop using your powers for a while.”
Edith stared at him in disbelief. That was the last thing she had expected to hear.
“But there’s still a curse on the young master’s heart.”
“Thanks to you, it’s improved a lot. He’ll be fine for now.”
“But shouldn’t we treat him while he’s doing well—?”
“A little pain won’t hurt him.”
“…But he’s your son.”
“Yes, and you’re my daughter-in-law.”
“…”
“I’m not the kind of man who would push a small child like you to the limit just to save my son.”
When he put it that way, there was nothing left for Edith to say. She couldn’t argue with that.
‘I guess I’ll just have to do it secretly,’ she must be thinking.
Khalid saw right through her and let out a resigned sigh.
“I’m not telling you to stop entirely. I just want you to take care of yourself while doing it.”
Edith nodded, though somewhat reluctantly. Khalid smiled softly and gently took her hand.
“Here, this is from Lucion.”
Last night, Lucion had snuck into Edith’s room like a stray cat, and after getting caught red-handed, he had shoved something into Khalid’s hands, almost as if dumping the problem on him.
‘He must have been pretty worried about Edith’s injury.’
Khalid chuckled at his son’s inability to express his feelings properly.
He could have just given it to her himself.
“Make sure to apply this twice a day, every single day. Lucion will throw another fit if it scars.”
Edith smiled awkwardly, imagining Lucion and how he was always on edge like a wildcat.
“Twice a day, every single day…” she murmured, holding the small ointment like it was a precious treasure.
“Thank you. I’ll put it to proper use.”
Khalid felt a mixture of contentment and sadness. He smiled bittersweetly and patted Edith’s head.
“I’m the one who should be thanking you. You’ve worked hard.”
Both Khalid and Lucion are such kind people.
I’m glad I came here. I need to keep doing my best.

Lucion stared at the spoon as it slowly turned black. His voice was unimpressed as he muttered,
“My aunt never gets tired of this, does she?”
After Oscar confirmed the food was poisoned, he promptly handed him the medicine.
“This is the medicine Miss Edith brought the other day.”
“This is from her?”
So that’s how she knew. Turns out Simon sent her.
“Meddlesome fool.”
I went through all the trouble to keep my father’s mouth shut, and yet Simon still sent her to my room?
And on top of that, the medicine wasn’t a sedative, but an antidote.
Not only did they reveal his secret, but they also gave her a good excuse to interfere. How annoying.
“Still, thanks to her, you recovered quickly.”
“I didn’t need it.”
Lucion snapped, downing the antidote in one gulp.
“How many rats do they have crawling around? No matter how many I get rid of, more keep popping up.”
That’s how they timed the poison perfectly on the day I was sick.
“It feels wrong to keep accepting things all the time. It’s about time I repay the favor.”
What should I send? He didn’t have to think long. The answer came to him quickly.
