Becoming the Villain’s Family - Chapter 319
Chapter 319
“You two, were you here yesterday as well?”
It was a boy with a friendly face.
He also had the same eye color as Luca.
Elaina, finding it fascinating, stared intently at his eyes and answered.
“Ung.”
Then Luca pulled Elaina closer to him and warned.
“Don’t trust someone who uses insignificant connections to approach you. It’s a classic trick of swindlers.”
Perhaps the boy was taken aback by Luca’s outright hostility despite just giving a simple greeting.
“Oh, did I scare you?”
The boy apologized with a smile, as if he was sorry.
It seemed the one who got angry after hearing Luca’s words was a servant standing quietly behind the boy.
“How dare you speak to the young master like that!”
The servant barked, his neck veins bulging. He waved his fists in the air threateningly.
Startled, Elaina clutched at Luca’s sleeve. Seeing his only sister shocked, Luca’s usually calm expression turned icy.
Let’s kill him.
It wasn’t a question of ‘should I kill him?’ but a decision—’kill him.’
Luca was quickly plotting how to deal with the bald man who had threatened Elaina.
That’s when.
“Stop it, Peter. I was the one who spoke first.”
“But, this brat just called you a swindler!”
“My father always said to be cautious and on guard with everyone, since kids are vulnerable.”
The boy seemed embarrassed as he tried to calm down the man named Peter.
‘Ha’
What on earth were they talking about?
Luca scoffed silently as he listened to their conversation with arms crossed. The boy’s demeanor was like that of a noble who graciously forgives the ignorance and rudeness from commoners.
Luca glanced down at his own clothes, ‘I suppose it’s an understandable mistake.’
Lately, when Luca and Elaina went out, he dressed like a commoner. Not too wealthy but not poor either.
It was annoying to dress up like a nobleman and go around without a guard and then become a target.
It was also hard to leave Elaina’s side to deal with it. After all, he didn’t want to leave her side even for a moment.
And now this happens.
Luca thought as he observed them.
The servant named Peter had an ax scar crossing his head and, despite being well-dressed, was a large man with a rather unpleasant demeanor.
Is he a bodyguard disguised as a servant?’
It was obvious to anyone that he was more of a mercenary than a knight. Given the murderous intent in his eyes rather than any chivalrous spirit.
Then he might be a son of a lesser noble family without a domain, or perhaps the son of a wealthy merchant.
As Luca had pointed out, it was likely that he wasn’t a swindler.
At least not outwardly.
“Sorry for startling you.”
The boy apologized with a smile and extended his hand.
“My name is Brian.”
Luca looked down at the hand offered to him with an expressionless face.
Brian awkwardly withdrew his hand at the rejection.
“Are you siblings?”
He didn’t seem to mind being called a swindler right to his face. Was he naive or shameless?
Or perhaps he was too dense to understand.
Luca scoffed and asked.
“Can’t you tell?”
“Hmm, it’s not usually obvious. You two don’t look alike at all.”
Luca’s face twisted at the boy’s honest reply.
“Our hair color is the same.”
“Just the hair color though.”
“…”
He instead added that their eye colors were complementary, which made their distinct appearances stand out more when they were together.
Luca faced Brian, who was smiling brightly enough to form dimples, with displeasure.
“How old are you? I’m ten.”
“Thousands years old.”
“Uung…?”
It was clear that Luca had no intention of giving a serious answer. Beside him, Elaina moved her lips.
“Luca, funny.”
“That’s an age too.”
“Ha, you’re a funny kid, aren’t you?”
“Are you laughing? Is it funny?”
“…”
Brian, finding Luca’s behavior that kept picking up a fight interesting, watched him intently.
Then he crouched down to Elaina’s level and asked.
“And you?”
“Ella, five.”
“That’s surprising. I thought you’d be younger.”
At that, Luca’s expression completely soured.
It was clear that he interpreted Brian’s words as implying Elaina’s speech was too undeveloped for a five-year-old.
This kid.
“Are you conducting a survey? Why keep digging?”
“…”
Luca knew very well that despite his youthful appearance, he didn’t look like a child at all. Adult humans often hesitated in his presence, and children were no exception. Most would simply burst into tears if he so much as glared at them.
To Luca, appearances were irrelevant. humans felt his dominance regardless of his form.
“Hey, Luca.”
Yet, strangely, the kid Brian didn’t seem intimidated at all, even as Luca responded with icy retorts.
“You really care about your sister?”
Brian continued in a gentle tone.
Luca’s gaze grew sharper.
“But that attitude won’t help Ella make any friends.”
“…”
“Are you planning to have Ella live as a loner forever?”
Look at this?
Luca’s mouth twisted.
From casually using Elaina’s nickname to striking precisely with his cheeky comments.
‘What’s with this kid? Really suspicious.’
He was imagining throttling the boy out of sight from Elaina, Luca cracked a wry smile.
“That’s none of your business.”
“Well, I wonder if Ella would agree with that?”
“Why do you care?”
“Ella needs friends, too. I’ve been watching, and she seems lonely. It just caught my attention.”
Why would he care about such things?
Luca was very annoyed with having to get worked up over a child. The realization that he was behaving childishly only added to his irritation.
