Becoming the Villain’s Family - Chapter 309
Chapter 309
The man from the ruined world made an unexpected move that Aria simply couldn’t fathom.
“Sorry, but your lips are all I can see.”
“I’m trying to have a serious conversation here!”
“Damn it, stop fidgeting then.”
He retorted as he moved in for another kiss, which Aria frantically pushed away while tilting her head back.
“Ugh, I’m still not sure if this is right or wrong.”
“Didn’t you say we’re all the same ‘Lloyd’?”
“I did say that, but—”
“Just stay still then.”
The Grand Duke began to use her words to his advantage.
“It, it doesn’t feel like Lloyd at all…”
“That’s unfortunate.”
He said with a twisted smirk, and was about to kiss her forcefully again when Aria reflexively shut her eyes tight. Just then, a familiar voice reached her ears.
“Abbuu…”
“Ella was desperately looking for Mom and Dad, so I came here.”
As Aria quickly looked up, Luca was staring down at them with an icy gaze.
“You were so focused that even with Siren’s hearing, you couldn’t hear me coming.”
Luca then covered Elaina’s eyes with his hand, saying.
“If I’m interrupting, I’ll go play with Ella.”
“Byaa.”
“No, no…”
Aria, who was flustered more than usual, forcefully pushed the Grand Duke away. It was unfair.
It was just a light kiss as usual with Lloyd, so why did it feel like she was caught doing something inappropriate?
“It’s okay. Ella was looking for me?”
Grand Duke Valentine stepped back obediently as she pushed. He leaned against a tree trunk and spoke sarcastically.
“You already interrupted, and now you ask if you did?”
“It’s your fault for ignoring us coming and continuing with your disgraceful actions.”
“I thought you’d have the sense to step back.”
“Ddya.”
Of course, the unaware Ella spread her arms wide toward Aria and the Grand Duke.
Aria, as always, tightly hugged Ella. Just holding her brought a warm, soft, comforting peace. The complex and subtle feelings she harbored inside, disappeared like smoke.
“So.”
The Grand Duke said.
He looked down at the mother and daughter, both with similar eyes, and asked.
“How exactly do you plan to give me the happiness I could have had?”
As Aria placed Elaina in his arms, she replied.
“We’ll have to figure that out slowly.”
To experience the mundane, peaceful everyday moments with the Valentines in this world. Of course, the best option would be to look for a way to restore his world.
Simply living happily here would only deepen his sense of loss when he thinks of his world.
“Dyadya. Dya. Daa, wii…”
Cradled in the Duke’s arms, Elaina gripped his fingers and tried to communicate something.
“What’s she saying?”
“Maybe she’s saying she likes Dad.”
“She can’t even recognize her own father.”
He responded indifferently but continued to playfully poke Elaina’s chubby cheeks.
“Kyaah!”
The baby yelled out as if to tell him to stop by the Duke’s boisterous play, then sighed and tried to converse again.
“Ddya, ddya. Dadada.”
“…..”
Perhaps the baby’s serious face made him feel he needed to be serious too. The Grand Duke, with a grave expression, pretended to listen before speaking.
“It seems the time has come to reveal the secret of your birth, but I’m not your father.”
Aria watched the Grand Duke seriously address the baby and then said.
“Do you know? This side’s Lloyd really resembles your father.”
“That’s a terrifying thing to say.”
What can one do when it’s the truth? Though if delved deeper, it was different. Liking frivolous jokes, alcohol, and cigarettes, and the destructive tendencies to live as if there were no tomorrow were strikingly similar. Not to mention their way of speaking.
Upon reflection, those things could be seen as an inescapable aspect handed down through generations that the Valentine had to bear. Either living in melancholy and despair or behaving recklessly as if on the verge of death.
Naturally, it had to be one or the other.
And yet…
“Dyaaack!”
“Is that uncomfortable?”
Perhaps kindness was also part of their strength.
Aria, reminded somehow of her own childhood, chuckled softly as she watched them.
“Ddya, dda! Ooh!”
“It seems like she doesn’t like it.”
“No.”
Aria shook her head and explained. It wasn’t possible Elaina would comfortably snuggle into his arms if she disliked it.
“Ella is still young, she just expresses all negatives as dislikes.”
“What is she negating?”
“Ddya! Ddyaa!”
The Grand Duke gestured towards himself as if asking, ‘Me?’ then nodded understandingly towards Elaina as if he had finally understood.
“It seems she has finally come to know the secret of her birth.”
“Bbaaa!”
Aria felt like it was the first time she saw Elaina this frustrated.
The baby was expressing such intense emotions.
True to her ability to read others’ emotions, it seemed Elaina had been taught (or maybe learned on her own?) to express a wide range of feelings from an early age.
“Stop teasing Ella.”
“I was just curious about her reaction.”
It did seem like he was teasing her.
Aria squinted her eyes at the Grand Duke, playing with her daughter in a way the original Lloyd would never have.
It seemed he found it fascinating that the little one, who could barely speak, seemed to understand him and respond with facial expressions.
Elaina babbled on, forming sounds that suspiciously sounded like ‘ooo, ooe, eee, eedd…”
It almost sounded like she called him stupid.
‘No, it must be a coincidence.’
Aria decided to ignore Elaina’s babbling as a mere coincidence.
“Ella came because she wants to play. Don’t tease her, play with her.”
“Play with her?”
“She loves it when Dad lifts her up high.”
The Grand Duke, following the spontaneous request, lifted Elaina high into the air.
