Becoming the Villain’s Family - Chapter 310
Chapter 310
Being lifted up with a sulky face, she quickly burst into laughter as he gently swung her back and forth just as Aria instructed.
“Whee!”
“Whee?”
“‘Whee’ is when you toss her lightly and catch her again…”
Without needing further instructions on how to be careful, he instinctively played with the baby safely and gently, just like Lloyd usually did.
For a moment, the Grand Duke looked down at his own hands, puzzled by the déjà vu of the situation, then asked.
“What else did she like to play?”
Usually, after playing with a baby, adults are the ones who end up exhausted.
Grand Duke Valentine, however, looked down at the peacefully sleeping Elaina and said.
“She seems too weak. Shouldn’t we be giving her some supplements?”
“Elaina is quite energetic for her age.”
“For a Valentine…”
He began to say something but stopped, as if realizing something.
“Is it because she doesn’t have any obligations to bear?”
Surprised by the baby’s seemingly frail strength, he carefully laid her down in the crib, much more gently than before.
“Ugh… hhing.”
But as soon as Elaina was out of his arms, she started to fuss.
The Grand Duke froze in place, bent over as if someone had aimed at his vital point.
Aria, noticing the Grand Duke had turned into a statue, smiled softly and said.
“It looks like she wants us to sleep with her.”
Reluctantly, he picked Elaina back up, holding her securely, and glanced at Aria with a look that spoke volumes.
“Sleep with her?”
“Yes, with Ella and me, all three of us.”
“…”
His face showed clear dissatisfaction.
Seeing his expression, which mirrored the sulky face Elaina had earlier, Aria couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Though she usually didn’t notice it, at times like this, it was striking how much father and daughter looked like they were cast from the same mold.
“Why that face?”
Unconsciously, she reached out and gently caressed his cheek as she spoke.
Playing with Elaina had broken down her defenses, and she found herself treating him with increasing familiarity as time went on.
“You seem to get along well with that lizard, I mean, dragon. Why not let him take her now?”
“Are you suggesting we send away our daughter who wants to be with her dad?”
“…Didn’t you say you wanted to give me the happiness I could have had?”
“Find a more wholesome kind of happiness.”
“Might as well torture me instead.”
Grand Duke Valentine clasped his hand over Aria’s outstretched one and pulled her closer. As he released her hand, it naturally wrapped around his neck, pulling her into an embrace.
“Lloyd!”
Aria, startled, tried to pull away and scold him when he called out in a deep, resonant voice.
“Ariadne.”
“Wholesome or not, the greatest happiness I’ve found here is that you survived and became my wife…”
“….”
“So why do you keep pushing this cute, tiny thing on me to avoid the issue?”
Even though he realized she was trying to avoid the issue by using Elaina, he still couldn’t help but be charmed by their daughter’s cuteness.
So he had obediently became the baby’s playmate.
The Grand Duke leaned in, pressing his forehead to Aria who had wide eyes like a rabbit. He tilted her chin up slowly, bringing her lips closer…
“Uweenngg!!!”
“…”
….He couldn’t.
When the second attempt ended in failure, he bared his teeth in a savage grin.
“Maybe I should send her away first.”
Send her away for what?
Aria thought about it, realizing that when he leaned in, she almost closed her eyes in response. Her cheeks flushed at the memory.
‘This is why I tried to keep my distance.’
Even though he was from another world, he was still Lloyd.
How could she resist him?
“Just… look at little Ella. It seems she prefers to sleep with her dad tonight.”
“…”
In the end, Aria chose to flee.
He watched in astonishment as she left the room, leaving him and the baby behind.
“Ha.”
He could have chased after her immediately, but—
“Dyadya.”
This little mischievous thing was still an obstacle.
Since things had come to this, he decided to see it through to the end. He lay down on the bed, placing Elaina on top of him.
“Go to sleep.”
“Dya…”
“I’m not your dad…”
Having finally given up on treating Elaina as if she couldn’t recognize her own father, the Grand Duke responded more gently.
“Alright, Ella.”
As she stopped crying, sleepiness crept in. Elaina, blinking on his stomach, crawled up and placed her hand on his forehead. Just as he was wondering what she was doing—
“Dya, ooeeedd.”
The happy memories Elaina had shared with her father, and the emotions she had read from him, flowed into his mind all at once.
Grand Duke Valentine, or rather, Lloyd, was momentarily overwhelmed by the flood of memories and emotions.
In Elaina’s memories, he saw himself having an unfamiliar, affectionate smile.
Whenever he made eye contact with her, his face would soften sweetly and gently, a look he had never seen on himself before.
He spoke to her with excessive caution, afraid that even a single word might carry a thorn and might cause her pain.
“Ella.”
“Even if God dares to covet you, I’ll protect you, even if it means destroying this world.”
“I promised Aria that we would live together in the world that was falling apart.”
Lloyd whispered in an incredibly gentle and affectionate tone.
This was the beginning, and soon, memories of his time with Elaina came flooding in—meals, playtime, picnics, naps… All those simple, everyday moments trickled into his mind.
