Chapter 25.2

The man called Ein hit Toma on the head with the thick book he was holding. Toma gritted his teeth, feeling contempt.

And the man didn’t miss that.

“Are you gritting your teeth in front of an executive? Do all chimeras ignore their superiors like this?”

Christine could see that he was about to hit Toma hard on the head with the book he was holding.

She could no longer stand by and watch.

“Hey, you.”

She walked quickly and stood in front of Toma.

Ein was a little taken aback when a woman who looked like she wasn’t even a chimera or a member of the Black Fang Guild appeared in front of him.

‘I heard Edgar had brought a woman here, is that her?’

As if reading his thoughts, Christine opened her mouth first.

“These are kids that Edgar cares about. What happened that made you scare a little child and struck his head with a book?”

Christine closely observed how the man reacted to her words.

The man flinched when the name Edgar came out. Seeing him mumbling as if to make an excuse, he seemed to be afraid of Edgar.

It was obvious why such a person would stop by a place where chimeras, especially chimeras that had not yet reached adulthood, were gathered and lectured them as soon as Edgar left.

‘Is he envious of Edgar’s authority? Did he want to stop by and experience it indirectly since Edgar is away?’

But the girl was so frightened that she didn’t greet him properly and held her head stiffly, which seemed to anger him.

While she waited for Ein to make an excuse, Toma whispered in her ear.

“I swear Miss Christine, Sonia was trying to be rude… she was terrified because he reminded her of someone who had abused her.”

She thought there must be something wrong with the little girl who was extremely pale, but it seemed like the situation was worse than she thought.

Christine looked at Ein and opened her mouth.

“You only want to be admired by the chimeras because you are an executive of the Black Fang Guild. You don’t seem interested in what kind of pain these children have gone through.”

“Or was there a good reason to strike Toma’s head down with a book?”

The man managed to open his mouth after a long while.

“Well… there must have been some misunderstanding. I was trying to care for the children and teach them how to be polite, but I must have gone too far.”

Ein decided to withdraw.

Nevertheless, among the executives in the main building, the story that Edgar had brought a woman was a hot topic. He had never had anyone, especially not a woman, by his side.

Ein had always admired and been jealous of Edgar, who was also an executive of the guild but boasted an unrivaled composure and authority. He hid himself like a man in the fog and never came forward.

So, Ein paid more attention to stories related to his private life.

He came here today to see if a woman was really staying here while stopping by for work, but he never expected to face such a bad situation.

‘It would be a problem if this woman told Edgar what I did to the chimera children…’

So, Ein bowed.

“I apologize for showing such a sight to a precious guest.”

“You don’t have to apologize to me, you have to apologize to the children.”

“I’m sorry.”

After throwing an apology that didn’t feel at all sincere, the man went somewhere.

Giving Sonia a soothing hug, Christine asked, “Toma, do you know who he is?”

“His name is Ein, and he is the executive who manages the library and archives room in the main building of the hideout. I heard that the guys working in the archives are weaklings who don’t even know how to fight, so I don’t know what makes him act like that. I’m sure he…”

Toma trailed off. Christine raised an eyebrow as if telling him to continue. She had the same expression on her face as she struck and killed the chicken he had thrown at her.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t say things like this. He’s still an executive.”

“Really? I don’t know much about what’s going on inside the guild.”

Christine patted the girl in her arms, pretending not to know. She must have been very surprised to see someone who looked like the man who had abused her.

“Sonia, are you okay?”

“…”

“That man will be punished for scaring you.”

Christine smiled and wiped away Sonia’s tears. Looking at her gentle smile, Sonia stopped crying for a moment as if possessed by something. The woman in front of her was like an angel.

‘So he’s in charge of the library and archives. He’s the perfect person to approach and get information from.’

Sonia had no idea what Christine was thinking as she smiled like that.
