After dinner, Ein headed back to the library. There was something that was bothering him, and he hadn’t been able to finish everything he needed to do.

‘I got behind on work because I stopped by the chimeras’ hideout to see Edgar’s guest for no reason.’

Ein wasn’t exactly a laid-back person, so he continued to care about what had happened during the day. Why did Edgar’s woman have to see him discipline the young chimeras?

‘That woman shouldn’t tell Edgar.’

Ein, who was a mere executive, did not know exactly what position Edgar held in the guild. On the surface, he was an executive who managed the chimeras, but there was no one who didn’t notice that Edgar wasn’t just an executive.

The man had dignity and authority as if he were from a completely different world. Even without anyone following him around and supporting him, he exuded a sense of intimidation as if he had been like that since birth.

There was someone who had seen Edgar giving orders to Isaac, the guild master, with just a motion of his chin. If he stayed still like this, not only would he lose his job, but he might also be in trouble if they found out why he went to the western hideout.

Around the time he was unable to focus on his work again due to his continued worries, someone knocked on the door.

“Excuse me, Mr. Ein, are you inside?”

Ein realized who the owner of the voice was and got up from his seat. It was the pretty woman Edgar had brought, the one he met during the day.

Ein, who opened the door wondering what was going on, was momentarily speechless at the sight of her.

“I’m sorry for stopping by so suddenly. My name is Christine. We met during the day, right?”

“…”

Christine, who asked for understanding with a soft voice, was so beautiful that he couldn’t express it in words.

The long blonde hair she had swept to one side smelled good, and her large eyes had a subtle purple glow that made him keep looking at them. Her long eyelashes and plump lips were enough to make any man swallow dry.

Judging from the fact that she was holding a coat in one hand, she seemed to be feeling a little cold. When he noticed that, Ein pointed inward without realizing it.

“W-would you like to come inside?”

“Thank you, Mr. Ein. Actually, I stopped by because I wanted to tell you something.”

Whenever Christine spoke in her soft voice, Ein felt his heart pound strangely.

She was Edgar’s woman, whom he had admired and envied all his life. And she had come to him like this and treated him with respect, which made him feel a sense of satisfaction, followed by the insidious thought of taking what was his.

“Would you like a cup of tea?”

“Ah, it’s alright. I came here to apologize, so I can’t ask you for such a troublesome request.”

Christine swept her hair behind her ear. She could feel the man’s lewd gaze on her neck.

It felt ridiculous to encounter such an easy opponent compared to Edgar, who strangely felt like an iron wall.

“Actually, I just wanted to apologize for what happened during the day.”

“You wanted to apologize to me?”

“Yes. Now that I think about it, it seems like Mr. Ein was just correcting the children as an executive.”

Of course, Christine thought Ein’s behavior was unacceptable.

How could he yell like that at a girl who was frozen by the pain she endured in the past? It wasn’t even that big of a deal.

‘Toma was also trying to calmly explain the situation at first, but he suddenly struck his head with a book.’

It was obvious that the man in front of her had committed such atrocities in the absence of Edgar because he wanted to be respected and obeyed by the chimeras who followed him. Edgar was a man who could both induce fear or make someone feel jealous.

As an elite guild member, Christine intended to take advantage of this man’s obvious mentality and gather the information she wanted.

“I was worried that you were offended by my interruption, so I decided to stop by. I hope you can understand and forgive me.”

Christine spoke softly and glanced at him. He flinched and avoided her gaze. It was quite amusing to watch him take a sip of the tea that hadn’t even cooled down because he was thirsty and then choked on it.

The more Ein thought about her words, the more he felt an inexplicable pleasure. He was worried that his situation would become difficult because of her just ten minutes ago, but now she had come to him first and yielded.

Moreover, the woman was watching him closely. The woman who had been brought in by Edgar was afraid of offending him, so she came to investigate for herself.

Realizing this fact, Ein felt that he had become a great person.
