Chapter 22.2
‘…By the way, he acknowledged me first.’
Cassel’s declaration was tantamount to him stating that he wouldn’t divorce her. It was essentially the same as him saying that he wouldn’t go under Lisseltz. The Emperor was aware of this fact as well. Similarly, Carania, who had followed the Emperor, also didn’t have a pleasant expression.
‘…Then, he could be caught up in a power struggle within the imperial family.’
This was what she was concerned about.
“I grant the title of Duke to Cassel.”
It was a higher title than she had expected.
“Though I’m still considering where to grant the estate. I’ll inform you once a decision is made.”
She couldn’t believe he hadn’t decided on a territory yet. It was unusual for the Emperor to handle things in this manner.
‘He’s a cold-hearted Emperor, after all.’
Still, he handled the affairs well, so it seemed unlikely that he hadn’t yet decided Cassel’s territory. This kind of behavior usually meant that there was some hidden agenda.
Leilia’s arm tensed at the thought.
And sometime later, rewards were also given to Zen and Calia. All Cassel’s subordinates expressed their gratitude to the Emperor and were delighted. Then, as music played, Cassel and Leilia held hands and walked to the center of the stage.
Today’s protagonist was Cassel.
She was also happy to be dancing with him for the first dance.
As he placed his hand on her waist and began to dance, their clasped hands felt warm, and her heart raced strangely.
Oh, her thirst for affection towards him was overwhelming.
Even though they kissed for a long time, she felt her thirst intensify as if her entire body was drying up. The sound of the music seemed to gently ripple through the air as she danced, careful not to step on his feet with her high heels.
“Did something bad happen with His Majesty?”
She asked him.
“Yes.”
“Really?”
“Are you concerned that he didn’t give me a territory?”
He knew exactly what was on her mind. As he asked, she nodded and whispered to him.
“I’m just nervous about how it would come out.”
“I’m not very interested. Regardless of how things turn out, my purpose won’t change.”
‘What is his purpose…?’
When she opened her eyes and looked at him, Cassel smiled mischievously.
“The position of a duke’s wife might be lacking for you, but…”
Leilia’s eyes widened.
“Could you be satisfied as the duke’s wife for now?”
He seemed to be suggesting that she should hold a higher position than the duke’s wife.
“Cassel thinks too highly of me.”
“You think too little of yourself, Leilia.”
He replied as if he didn’t like it.
After the dance ended, she silently released her hand from Cassel’s. Her cheeks were flushed, and she couldn’t hold onto his hand any longer. Her heart pounded in her chest as she felt a rush of longing that threatened to explode.
It seemed she had been suppressing her feelings for him longer than she had realized.
“I’ll go out to the terrace for a moment to get some fresh air.”
With those words, she clutched her skirt and ran away as if she were fleeing.

Cassel silently watched Leilia as she hurriedly left.
His hands were too hot.
He kissed the back of the hand that had held Leilia’s. Since he gave credit to his wife, the Emperor must have come to his senses. Even though he might be angry, that was none of his business.
Divorce was out of the question. He had to prevent that at all costs.
‘Leilia.’
The title was merely a means to get her.
…His wife, whom he highly thought of.
He smiled bitterly as he thought of his wife, who thought lowly of herself. However, he delved into this aspect and became her husband.
He stared at the place where Leilia had gone to.

As Leilia entered the terrace to take in the night breeze for a moment, she saw a figure in the darkness.
‘Who had come here first to catch some fresh air?’
She briefly scanned her surroundings and then lowered her head when she recognized a familiar figure.
“I greet Your Highness Lisseltz.”
“Raise your head.”
She lifted her head at his words.
Lisseltz Jen Roten, Cassel’s half-brother and the current Crown Prince who, was currently being talked about. A smile formed on his lips as he looked at her with his long, neatly tied golden hair and his red eyes. He had a relationship with Leilia since their days at the academy.
“It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?”
He asked her with a subtly lowered voice.
“Were you looking forward to your husband’s return?”
