Chapter 20.1
As the hot heat rushed into her mouth, the heat made it hard to breathe, and the feeling of being overwhelmed at the end made her mind hazy. After the long and lingering kiss ended, Cassel pulled his lips away and whispered to Leilia.
“Leilia, my wife.”
He held her tightly in his arms and pressed his forehead against hers.
“I lived because of you.”
There were many things that happened on the battlefield. Leilia nodded her head, recalling that time.
“Thank you for keeping your promise.”
He kept the promise to come back alive. And even after coming back, he didn’t want to go to the mistress or the woman he loved. He wanted to stay by his side as a husband.
…That was enough.
Leilia silently shed tears.
So many things have happened until now. As those memories flashed in her head, emotions surged intensely.
“Don’t cry.”
However, even Cassel’s voice was also choked up when he said this.
He, too, was crying.

〈 As long as my wife is doing well. 〉
When the Hyllan Merchants Association provided significant war contributions, Leshulean told Cassel to tell him what he needed as if he would help him… yet nothing had been preserved. As soon as he returned, he mentioned that he had removed Leilia’s belongings.
His rage surged.
What had he gone to the battlefield for?
‘It couldn’t have been just this.’
Suppressing the boiling anger and the longing for her, he gently asked Leilia. He wondered what the Emperor had given to her.
However, her words were astonishing.
…A black dress.
His anger soared even more. Still, the way she had dressed up like this made her incredibly lovely.
And a small response.
“Thank you for keeping your promise.”
The words of gratitude for his return resonated within his heart.
After saying those words, Leilia cried.
It felt like he knew a little about what kind of feelings she had held while supporting him. Even though she might not love him the same way, she cherished him as a patron.
“Don’t cry.”
Although he was a husband who made her suffer as she received no care, she still thanked him for coming back alive like this.
Tears fell from his eyes.
As he remembered the close moments on the battlefield and all the things Leilia had done to support him, desire blossomed.
He couldn’t bear it any longer.

Zen and Calia glanced around the spacious room. Fortunately, the accommodation voucher granted by the Hyllan association allowed them to use the room for free.
“How’s your room?”
He replied to Calia’s question.
“It’s similar.”
“The head of the Hyllan association seems to be kind to His Highness.”
After saying that, she immediately lay down on the bed.
“Change your clothes before lying down.”
“It’s a hassle because I have to wear a dress.”
Calia thought about the dress provided to her by the palace as she went on, “They might try to set me up with His Highness Cassel again, so I’ll just put on the armor and go.”
In response to her words, Zen approached her for a moment and sat on the edge of the bed.
“Are you referring to His Highness’s mistress?”
“Yeah, I remember how ridiculous that was when the rumor spread!”
Calia sighed.
“His Highness was also tongue-tied.”
“Our knights are angry, too.”
He empathized with her words.
“No, what kind of mistress would he have when he’s wearing the necklace sent by their wife every day?!”
Calia gritted her teeth, continuing her words.
“I should’ve punched the journalist who spread that rumor.”
Finishing her words, she glanced at Zen for a moment, but he didn’t notice that gaze.
“His Highness told us to just stay still and let him handle it.”
Calia thought of Leilia.
“I mean, the Madam…”
At his words, she grabbed his collar and asked.
“What about Madam Leilia?”
“Wasn’t it a bit unusual?”
“What do you mean?”
“Even though her husband came back, she didn’t get to sit in the front row.”
In response to Calia’s words, Zen recalled the procession ceremony and nodded his head.
“Although her family didn’t help, the Madam didn’t have an affair, and she diligently sent letters. Upon receiving those letters, His Highness Cassel also found a lot of solace in those letters.”
However, the imperial family treated his wife coldly.
It seemed that Cassel was also furious about it.
“I hope His Highness doesn’t clash with His Majesty too much, but still, this is something that needs to be addressed.”
Zen thought of his master.
Cassel never seemed to have any intention of getting a divorce. Despite the Emperor’s efforts to align himself with the household that pledged allegiance to the most likely candidate for the crown prince, Prince Lisseltz, he refused to do so, and as a result, he had no choice but to collide with the Emperor.
Consequently, Cassel’s position could become precarious.
As a subordinate, he was concerned about those possibilities.
