Chapter 19.2
“Has it always been like this?”
Cassel asked quietly.
“Mostly, but having Seychelle with me made it bearable.”
For a moment, his pupils flickered at her words.
“…So it’s true.”
Seeing him biting his lip, Leilia gently wiped his lips as Cassel silently seethed with anger.
“I’m fine.”
Looking at her speaking calmly, he took her hand and led her somewhere.

‘Where are we going?’
Leilia looked at Cassel’s back as he hurriedly walked and thought to herself. It seemed as though he was in some kind of rage.
‘…I’m really happy.’
Having a husband who stood by her side and got angry on her behalf allowed her to know the depth of his emotions for her. In the meanwhile, the place where they soon arrived with the door closed was Cassel’s room.
Finally, alone in his bedroom, he turned towards her and asked a question.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t want to bother you with this, knowing how difficult it must already be on the battlefield.”
In response to her calm words, he tightly clenched his lips.
“I’m thankful that you’re getting angry now.”
His voice unknowingly raised upon hearing those words.
“Of course! What kind of husband would stand by and let his wife be treated like this?!”
Running a hand roughly through his hair, his words went on.
“No one retained my words.”
He spoke coldly.
“What do you mean, keep your word?”
“I asked them to take care of my wife before I left for the battlefield.”
Perhaps Cassel had never expected that she would live with such disregard.
“Did people around you know?”
“I didn’t say anything, but I think they had their suspicions.”
At the response, he clicked his tongue.
“…I was the only one who didn’t know.”
His voice sounded bitter.
“I was on the battlefield without knowing that my wife was being treated like this.”
“Cassel.”
“What the hell was I fighting for?”
When a disheartened expression was painted on his face, Leilia quickly placed her hand on his lips and shook her head.
“You fought hard, so don’t blame yourself. I also kept things from you.”
As he ran his tongue lightly over the finger she had placed on his lips, Leilia pulled back slightly in surprise.
“Cassel?”
Looking at her panicked face, he hesitated for a moment before drawing her closer.
“You don’t want this?”
“It’s not that, but…”
A dangerous light flickered in his eyes.
“Then, it’s alright.”
After saying that, he pulled her into an embrace.
“What did the Emperor send?”
Cassel whispered, urging her to confess quickly. At the sound of his low voice, her heart pounded in her chest and Leilia’s mind went blank.
“Be honest with me.”
His gentle voice felt like a hypnotic spell, making her want to confess everything.
“Just moderately.”
“If he gave you something appropriate, why would you have to come with outfits bought from the Hyllan association?”
He whispered with a sly smile near her ear.
“Isn’t it so?”
‘This kind of atmosphere really weakens me…’
“But…”
“You don’t need to worry about defying His Majesty.”
“It’s not that…”
It was because she was concerned that if Cassel got angry with the Emperor, he could be harmed.
“What was it?”
This time, he kissed her collarbone. Her body, already feeling heated from this kind of contact, responded. Her cheeks turned red.
“He gave me a black dress.”
“I see.”
Finally, those words came out.
“Don’t get angry with His Majesty.”
She was worried about him.
“Leilia, I’m more reliable than you think.”
Saying so, he reassured the anxious Leilia not to worry and gently kissed her collarbone.
“I didn’t want you to wear this dress.”
“Why?”
He whispered again, kissing her ear.
“You have such a pretty collarbone that I don’t want other men to see it.”
It felt too good to be true.
A rush of exhilaration washed over her, leaving Leilia feeling flustered by the unfamiliar sensation. In response, Cassel leaned in and sought her lips.
“Looks like I have to fulfill my duty as a neglectful husband.”
Finishing his words, Cassel brought his lips close to hers and their breaths touched each other’s lips. As the ruby eyes filled with overflowing longing gazed at Leilia, who closed her eyes without saying anything, he kissed her on the lips.
It was a sensation of intense heat that came before disappearing.
“Leilia.”
He called her name desperately.
