After I Died, He Died After Me Too - Chapter 7
Chapter 4.1
Bianca, who attended the banquet, glanced around.
Many people made efforts to show off their charm upon hearing that the Crown Prince would be attending. They were probably emitting pheromones to seduce him. However, for her, who had no abilities, she could only smell the faint scent of flowers wafted in the wind.
The flowers may have been placed to calm those who were emitting pheromones.
She preferred the gentle scent of flowers that didn’t make her head dizzy. Occasionally, the mingling scents of soil and grass coming in through the open window weren’t bad either.
It was different from when she was nervous every time she attended a banquet before. She didn’t have to worry about when the Guides would approach or when she might lose her senses.
She tried not to be one of those people who lunged for guiding like an animal, losing her composure because of the Guide’s pheromones. As a result, she became an outcast even among the Espers because she pretended to be aloof and noble, even though she was only trying to be considerate, knowing that the Guide couldn’t refuse.
“You’re going to end up hurting your pair. Or maybe, is that why you’re so prickly?”
“Isn’t it strange for you to monopolize him alone when you’re not even going to imprint him? It’s obvious you must’ve done something. Heh. That’s why he’s so fretful.”
“It seems like you’ve trained your Guide well. He wouldn’t even let us lay a finger on him, so maybe you can share some of your secrets with us?”
Mocking was a daily occurrence. She didn’t understand when they spoke strangely about Mikhail, who always smiled sweetly.
Even now that she thought about it, she didn’t know why they said such things.
‘What’s the use of it now?’
She lifted her head in a daze as she recalled the castle she had seen before. The castle in front of her remained as large and majestic as ever.
‘This place still hasn’t changed. That’s why I’m even more reluctant.’
The stares that stuck to her felt like they were piercing through her, causing her body to shrink involuntarily.
“You look tense. Let’s go in.”
“Even Brother looks the same.”
“It’s an imperial banquet. Of course, I’m nervous.”
As Asilian shrugged his shoulders and chuckled, Bianca took his outstretched hand before the two of them soon entered the banquet hall. It seemed like everyone was searching for one person with expectant eyes.
She headed towards the edge of the stage as if it had nothing to do with her. Keeping her distance from the crowd, she sipped her wine.
‘It’s good.’
Her mouth watered at the fragrant fruity scent that penetrated her nostrils and the soft sensation on her throat. As she sipped the wine, everyone’s gaze turned towards the door.
“His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Dexter de Douglas, is entering!”
The murmurs of the crowd abruptly ceased at the booming voice of the announcer. The sound of footsteps walking could be heard quietly, accompanying the sound of the music.
At that moment, Bianca sensed a strong scent and lifted her head.
‘This…’
With a thud, she felt her heart drop and almost dropped the wine glass in her hand.
The crimson eyes were staring straight at her.
The man with the dizzyingly strong pheromones was none other than Crown Prince Dexter de Douglas.
Bianca hastily avoided his gaze. For some reason, it felt like the Crown Prince kept staring at her. The scent of flowers that had been lingering in the breeze around the tip of her nose was now gone, and only the strong pheromones seemed to swirl around her.
It didn’t make sense for her, an ordinary person, to smell the pheromones emitted by an Esper… unless she suddenly awakened.
‘This can’t be happening.’
Her body heated up at the sensations she’d never experienced before, while the sudden smell of pheromones made her mind dizzy.
It wasn’t just the Crown Prince. Various pheromones were tangled together.
As her breath became slightly labored, it became difficult just to stand here. Bianca held her breath, trying to control her expression. She placed her hand on her chest and listened to the pounding of her heart.
‘…Could it be awakening?’
Now that she was an adult, there was no way she was going to awaken now of all times. Still, when she tried to recall the feeling of awakening as an Esper, it was similar. Moreover, the ripple of power that she felt the moment she locked eyes with the Crown Prince…
Bianca shook her head.
‘It must be because I’m tired.’
