When the Villainess Died, the Male Lead Went Crazy - Chapter 143.2
Lilith smiled and took a sip of her tea.
“Lilith.”
“Yes?”
“What happened to your father?”
“I’m a god, so what about a father?”
“Mephist.”
Anais intentionally said the name, sensing that Lilith might be trying to avoid answering. However, despite her mentioning it, Lilith continued to smile leisurely.
“I believe hatred is a feeling that tortures oneself. I hope you can forget that person to focus entirely on your present life.”
At Anais’s words, Lilith briefly stopped smiling and nodded. Lilith felt her heart warm, as Anais was thinking of her.
For Anais, forgiveness wasn’t just for the other person—it was for herself, too.
And she also wanted to forgive Kylian, to be happy with him. Not for his sake, but for her own.
So she hoped the same for Lilith. Living with hatred was not an easy thing.
“I love it when Lady Anais worries about me with that expression.”
“What expression?”
“This one.”
Lilith put on a pitiful yet worried expression. Seeing Lilith exaggeratedly mimic her, Anais smiled.
“Oh, and there’s another big change, actually.”
“What is it?”
“I’ll tell you at dinner later.”
Lilith grinned, excited, wiggling her eyebrows.
* * *
Dinner time arrived, and Kylian had to force a smile. His beloved wife was still sitting in front of him, but on either side of her were Lilith and Phileal.
He had to sit alone at the head of the table and feel like an outsider.
“Lewarren sent a letter. He’ll be here tomorrow.”
“It’s hard to even see that guy’s face.”
As Lilith spoke, a finger bowl was placed before them.
“Lord Re, this is for washing your hands.”
“I kn… I don’t know. Lady Anais, you can teach me.”
“What do you not know? You know everything.”
Lilith quickly read Phileal’s memory and attempted to act sweetly towards Anais but failed. She had caught Anais teaching Phileal the dining etiquette kindly.
“Why did you only teach Phileal?”
“You already know it.”
Lilith pouted and changed her appearance to look like a younger man, resembling Phileal.
“Why did you suddenly change?”
“Today, I’ll eat like this. So Lady Anais will realize that I have much more to learn.”
Lilith transformed into a man with white hair and black eyes, resembling Phileal. His shoulders were broad, but his body was slender and youthful.
“Oh, and yesterday, Phileal learned how to use a fork and knife, right?”
“Yes.”
“I swear on my name, he pretended not to know.”
“Lord Re!”
Phileal exclaimed in surprise, but Anais simply laughed.
“I know. Phileal would never not know dining etiquette.”
“Then, why don’t you pretend I don’t know too?”
“It’s awkward teaching you something. We’re friends, after all.”
“Aha…”
Lilith finally relaxed and smiled.
“That makes me happy.”
Lilith said, resting her head on Anais’s shoulder.
“Please pat me like Phileal. I want to be spoiled by Lady Anais.”
“Not anymore. You’re not the same Lilith as before.”
“I am Lilith, and you are Lady Anais.”
“Anais, pat me too.”
Phileal grabbed Anais’s arm and nuzzled her shoulder. Anais felt strangely like she had two cats.
“Both arms are taken, so it might be hard.”
“Let go, Phileal. It’s a command as a god.”
Phileal obeyed Lilith’s words and reluctantly let go of her hand, but didn’t lift his head from her shoulder.
Watching this, Kylian wanted to get rid of both of them, except for Anais. He hadn’t spoken a word since earlier, but Anais didn’t notice.
Every time Anais tried to pay attention to Kylian, Phileal would introduce a new topic of conversation, and Lilith would eagerly join in, drawing Anais’s attention away from Kylian.
At this point, Kylian couldn’t help but notice that the two of them were deliberately trying to steal Anais away from him.
“Anais, won’t you have tea with me too?”
“Sure, how about tomorrow?”
“Yes, it sounds good. I learned how to brew tea leaves this time.”
Phileal said sweetly, and Anais absentmindedly ran her fingers through his hair. It was as soft as white cat fur, gently swaying under her touch.
“Then we can have tea with Lord Re too.”
“Just the two of you. You had tea with me today, so I’ll step back.”
“Thank you, Lord Re.”
Lilith said it like a favor, and Phileal smiled brightly.
Anais felt relieved to see them getting along. She was glad that Phileal seemed to be settling in better than before. Just then, Lilith, as though remembering something, turned to Anais and spoke.
“Ah, Lady Anais. I have good news.”
“What is it?”
“It’s about something being discussed in the gods’ council.”
Lilith smiled crookedly and glanced at Kylian.
“We’re trying to change the rules so that even priests can get married.”
At this, Kylian unconsciously broke the handle of the wine glass he was holding.
