When the Villainess Died, the Male Lead Went Crazy - Chapter 141.1
“Forget all the memories… I hope you can let go of all the painful ones.”
Since Lilith had allowed Anais to choose after restoring her memories, she had constantly thought about those words and eventually had a dream.
“Let’s, let’s save her. Lady Anais.”
The past and future were still painful, and he couldn’t recognize her.
“You’re deceiving me again.”
No matter how many times she told the truth, Kylian wouldn’t believe her. However, now that the things she hadn’t known before were resurfacing in dreams, they seemed to be seen from a slightly different perspective.
“Let’s get rained on together.”
As Kylian glared at her fiercely, Anais suddenly realized that he had been afraid of making eye contact with her. Maybe, unconsciously, he had recognized her through their eyes.
Anais could somewhat understand Kylian’s perspective. However, the vivid pain from that time was so overwhelming that she couldn’t smile easily.
“You’re awake.”
As Anais slowly opened her eyes, Lilith was helping her up by sharing her strength, ensuring she could get up comfortably.
“You showed me the memories.”
“Yes. There’s still much left, but I showed them in chronological order.”
“Mm.”
By seeing everything in order, Anais could better understand the fragmented memories that had resurfaced. She recalled being deceived by Lewarren and going to meet Kylian, and how, when they reunited in the palace, Kylian didn’t recognize her, and she tried continuously to remind him that she was Anais.
“…I’m sorry. It must’ve been so painful for you.”
“Yes. Even knowing that Kylian loves me, it still hurts.”
“Then, as I mentioned before, I think it would be best to erase the memories.”
“Why?”
Anais was a bit puzzled by both Lilith and Phileal telling her to forget. The painful and difficult memories were true, but Anais wanted to recall the past.
Because only by remembering could she prevent the same things from happening again.
“There are some memories that are better left forgotten.”
Anais, looking at Lilith’s face as she smiled bitterly with concern, was relieved to see that despite the changes, Lilith still had expressions she had once shown Anais in the past.
“I still want to know more.”
“Understood. But for now, you seem exhausted.”
Lilith gently pressed Anais’s shoulder, making her lie back comfortably.
“I’ll make sure you sleep well tonight, without any more dreams.”
“Yes.”
With that answer, Anais finally fell into a deep sleep.
* * *
“I’m thinking of building a temple of chaos in the palace.”
Kylian, startled by Anais’s shocking words, unknowingly crumpled the papers he was holding. They were currently in the study, facing each other across their desks, so Kylian could clearly see Anais’s face.
Anais had decided to build the temple of chaos because she believed that Lilith would need it to manifest securely here.
“Yesterday, you left me to sleep alone, and today… Madam is being too much.”
“Did you feel lonely?”
“I couldn’t sleep a wink. Maybe it’s because you weren’t there. The bed felt too cold, and my chest felt empty.”
“Hahaha.”
Kylian spoke earnestly, but Anais laughed, thinking he was joking. However, she quickly stopped laughing and, flustered, asked,
“Is that not okay?”
“It’s not that it’s not okay. If that’s what you wish, of course. But it would be nice if you could be a little warmer.”
“I’m already warm because of you.”
“I know. But right now…”
Kylian looked at Anais with a worried expression. Anais honestly thought it was a relief that they hadn’t slept in the same bed. She had told herself that she would make decisions after regaining all her memories, but she feared that being too close to Kylian during that process would be difficult.
She had been deceived by Lilith many times, and while she understood his situation, the wounds he had inflicted on her heart still hurt deeply, even though she understood with her mind.
“I’m so scared that you might not want to look at me now.”
“If I can’t forgive you, I’ll just ask them to erase my memories.”
At Anais’s calm words, Kylian lowered his gaze from her eyes. He wanted to kill the version of himself that had existed in the past. He wanted to erase his past mistakes and go back to the past, so that he could dedicate his whole heart to her now.
“Why are you so down now?”
“Wife probably ask to erase the memories.”
“That might not happen.”
“I know what I’ve done, and I don’t deserve forgiveness.”
Kylian’s words made Anais feel a bit sorry for him. Anais got up from her seat and gestured for him to sit back down as he tried to get up with her.
Kylian hesitated, feeling uneasy that she might be leaving him, but he sat back down at her gesture. His chest felt like it was being pierced by thousands of needles, and with every breath, it felt as though the foolish actions of his past screamed at him, telling him he deserved to be abandoned by her.
“Kylian.”
“Wife…”
He flinched when she sat on the floor, but soon he found himself experiencing a sudden jolt as he looked at Anais, who was looking up at him, her head resting on his leg.
“I like you, Kylian. Really.”
“I love you, Wife.”
