When the Villainess Died, the Male Lead Went Crazy - Chapter 137.2
After the coup’s success, Lewarren spent most of his time in the temple. Unless there was a major event, he never left his room.
The issue was that, as a high priest, he could send the chief priest to handle outside matters, leaving him confined indoors without anyone being able to object. Unless Roseraine herself intervened.
The newly transformed Roseraine, who had lost her memory and become a different being, respected Lewarren’s actions. Gods were beings who were infinitely lenient toward those who held their power.
“What exactly do you want to ask? Why am I avoiding you? I haven’t been avoiding you. I just didn’t want to be around people, so I stayed in my room.”
“That’s a poor excuse.”
“Stop!”
Kylian stopped just short of striking the display case, the sword vibrating and hovering in the air with only a finger’s width of space left.
“You remember, Lewarren.”
“Is there anyone who doesn’t have memories?”
“I’m talking about the memories before time was reversed.”
Lewarren clamped his mouth shut at his words.
“You’re avoiding me because you remember.”
Kylian looked at Lewarren with a fierce expression. Lewarren sighed and walked toward him. He then grabbed the sword and lowered it, saying,
“Fine.”
“You remember, and yet you dare to avoid me?”
“Should I just show up shamelessly?”
“Yes, you should have. You should have acted shamelessly like you knew nothing.”
“You might do that, but I can’t. How am I supposed to face Anais?”
Kylian understood his words but was different from him. Kylian couldn’t let go of his feelings for Anais.
“Anais seems to be slowly regaining her memories.”
“What?”
“Her nightmares are becoming more frequent.”
Kylian had noticed that she was dreaming about things before time was reversed. And when he realized it wasn’t just a dream, but the past, he feared she would hate him for it.
“That’s why you came to me.”
“…”
“You’re afraid that when Anais regains her memories, she’ll leave you.”
Kylian silently looked at Lewarren’s face, as he instantly understood his intentions, then continued.
“My wife left me. If her memory returns, she might start hating me.”
“So what do you want me to do?”
“Help me, Lewarren.”
“Help you? You want me to help her not regain her memories, perhaps?”
“No.”
Kylian sighed quietly and looked directly at Lewarren, who was looking at him with pity.
“Help me so that even if she remembers, she’ll still love me.”
He made his plea while briefly glancing at Lewarren’s prized possessions.
“All you have to do is stay by my wife’s side.”
Kylian’s words caused Lewarren to reluctantly nod his head.
* * *
Kylian was dreaming. The memories of his past life.
“Anais!”
When he realized that the person in Lilith’s body was his wife, he had purified her in order to return Anais to her original body.
“Wait!”
But as soon as he called her, Anais jumped into the lake. He was watching the scene unfold now. Anais ran with a terrified expression, and no matter how much he chased after her, he couldn’t catch up. She looked back in fear, ran faster, and without hesitation, jumped into the water.
“Anais!”
Kylian screamed in desperation.
“Kylian.”
“Huh… Anais…!”
“Kylian!”
Finally, when he opened his eyes, he found Anais beside him, looking at him with concern.
“Kylian, are you okay? You were having a nightmare…”
Kylian was relieved as soon as he saw Anais beside him. All the fear he had felt surged within him, and he couldn’t contain his emotions.
“I’m sorry, Wife.”
“Huh?”
“I made a mistake. Anais, please don’t leave me.”
“What?”
“Ugh, I was a fool, I didn’t recognize you.”
“Kylian?”
Anais was more confused by his trembling words. She had never seen him so shaken and didn’t know how to react.
“The only one I love is you.”
“Kylian.”
“I love you, Anais. Please, tell me you love me too.”
“Kylian.”
Anais called him softly. Kylian couldn’t wait for her to say she loved him. He was trembling, and he felt like if Anais regained her memories, she might leave him.
“I can’t live without you, Wife.”
“Kylian.”
“If I have to live without you, I’d rather die.”
At his words, Anais wiped the confusion from her face and hugged him tightly.
“Please forgive me.”
“I will.”
“Please, forgive me.”
“I will.”
But Kylian knew that she wasn’t really forgiving him. She was just saying that because she didn’t know the truth.
