When the Villainess Died, the Male Lead Went Crazy - Chapter 126.2
“He really intended to make Anais Percival the vessel for the summoning.”
Phileal narrowed his eyes at Leviathan’s words.
“We have to go back.”
Kylian’s face turned even paler as he processed their conversation.
“Why would they use my wife’s body for such a thing?”
“Anais Percival is someone who can change the fate bestowed upon her by Goddess Julias. If anyone can receive the power of the God of Death, it would be her.”
“So what happens then?”
“If the God of Death manifests, everything will disappear, except for us priests.”
“But that’s impossible. Even if she is Anais, she wouldn’t be able to withstand the power of the God of Death for long.”
Phileal began to worry about Anais. The reason she had been taken must have been to make it appear as if her soul and body were fully together in one place. If that were the case, then Lilith, who inhabited Anais’s body, would seize all that power.
But what exactly was she planning to do with that power? Was it merely to erase everything?
“I’m going back to the palace right now.”
Leviathan and Phileal looked at Kylian at his words.
“Ha.”
Leviathan sensed the energy of the remaining gate at the ruined temple in the distance and spoke to Phileal.
“We’ll have to use that gate.”
It was something Duke Percival had repaired just in case. It had also been used by those who had kidnapped Anais.
* * *
“Are you really suggesting we cross through that?”
Kylian said as he looked at the shabby gate. The gate should not be opened carelessly, nor should it be used without caution.
If something went wrong with the gate, it could lead to death in an instant. Parts of the body might move while the rest remained behind.
“You seem frightened.”
Phileal said this and stepped forward, seemingly intending to be the first to use the gate.
“No, I’ll go first.”
Kylian believed he needed to move first to save Anais. He had felt uneasy throughout the journey to Ensest. However, Phileal was still using his divine power. This only reinforced that Anais was more than just a friend to him.
Kylian thought this was his last opportunity. Therefore, he would not hesitate or retreat any longer.
He activated the gate and moved through first.
As soon as he did, he found himself face-to-face with Lewarren. Lewarren had sensed the gate activating and had already come here.
Bang!
“You arrived quicker than I expected.”
He smashed the gate just as Kylian was crossing over. Now, no one would be able to come through from the other side.
Lewarren knew very well that he was no match for Kylian. Nonetheless, he smiled, as if to say there was no other choice, and blocked his path.
“So, my wife is here. What are you all scheming? Weren’t you supposed to be Anais’s friends?”
Lewarren laughed at that. It wasn’t a mocking laugh. He truly considered Anais a friend as well.
Once, he had felt envious of Kylian for being able to stand by her side, but after letting go of those feelings, he simply wished for their happiness together.
“We’re still friends, Kylian.”
As he said this, Lewarren extended his hand toward Kylian, powerful divine energy rippling around him, ready to turn him to ashes in an instant.
“A friend does something like this? You knew everything, didn’t you?”
“That’s right. I knew everything from the start.”
“Then why did you let me treat Anais like that?”
“At first, I thought that if you and Anais recognized each other, I could step aside. When you failed to recognize her, I almost spoke up.”
Kylian was reminded once more that he was responsible for this situation.
“You, too, had countless opportunities but failed to recognize Anais.”
“I…”
“Right, I know it’s because of your past mistakes. But you’ve already lost every chance. All the opportunities given to you vanished because you shut your eyes and ears.”
Lewarren had never wished for things to escalate to this point. He believed that if Kylian truly loved Anais, he wouldn’t have failed to recognize her.
“I will stop you.”
“You think you can win against me?”
“No, I can’t defeat you. I’ve never beaten you once.”
Lewarren chuckled bitterly as he faced Kylian.
“And yet, you plan to stop me?”
“Yes.”
Kylian drew his sword again, the blade aimed at Lewarren.
“I don’t want to kill you.”
“Why? Because Anais would want to see me?”
“…Yes.”
With that, Kylian leaped forward, aiming to strike Lewarren.
In an instant, his sword turned to ash and scattered. Kylian created a blade of energy from the remaining hilt and brought it down toward Lewarren.
Boom! With a thunderous sound, Kylian’s energy blade sliced through the wall behind Lewarren, causing it to crumble.
