When the Villainess Died, the Male Lead Went Crazy - Chapter 126.1
The High Priest of Death said this and then glanced at Lilith. He hoped that all the guilt he felt toward her would vanish because of it.
The High Priest of Death owed a debt to Lilith. Initially, he believed that Lilith’s mother, his fiance, had betrayed him. He even thought that Lilith, whom he believed was his child, was actually the daughter of High Priest Raviel.
However, it was only after he had sacrificed his fiance that he realized the child his fiance had borne was indeed his daughter.
When he eventually discovered that Lilith was his daughter, he deliberately abandoned her. He was a priest of the God of Death, and he resented Lilith.
Even though she had done nothing wrong, he harbored feelings of hatred toward her. Each time he saw her, the mistakes he had made and the irreversible emotions would torment him.
“I truly care for you, High Priest. You feel like family.”
In saying this, he couldn’t help but see young Phileal reflected in her.
“Other priests despise me. Am I really unworthy of being the Second Bishop?”
It pained him to see him trying so hard to be loved. His innocence easily tainted by darkness reminded him of Lilith, even as he struggled to maintain a shred of purity.
“Are you really my father?”
The saint from the Temple of Goddess Julias approached him with a look of despair, her eyes filled with countless emotions.
“If you feel sorry for me, then help me.”
That was how she ended up at the palace.
“If all the creatures in the palace die, the priests of death will die too.”
“I know that. As long as the three conducting the ritual survive, it’s fine. No, it means four if you include Anais.”
The High Priest of Death broke away from his thoughts and looked at Lewarren.
“Are you scared?”
“No way.”
Lewarren chuckled at Mephist’s words.
“Let’s begin.”
At his command, the High Priest of Death initiated the ritual. Instantly, a dark fog enveloped the entire palace, shrouding it in darkness. Since it was nighttime, only those inside the palace could sense something was amiss.
“Help me!”
“Kyaak!”
As screams erupted from all around, the magic circle glowed brightly.
After about half an hour, as everything fell silent, the light vanished. All of it flowed into Lilith’s body.
“Did it work?”
“Yes.”
Lilith slowly lifted her body and looked at Lewarren.
“I feel refreshed.”
She said this while gazing at the unconscious Anais.
“It will soon be over, Anais.”
Lilith spoke with a truly ecstatic expression.

After arriving in Ensest, Kylian mobilized his knights and searched every place she might have gone. Eventually, he located the inn where she had stayed and burst in.
“Anais!”
Click. Hearing the sound of a gun being cocked, Kylian instinctively drew his sword and looked into the room.
Although Anais was nowhere to be found, Phileal and Duke Percival were present together. Kylian had not been informed that Duke Percival had escaped from the palace’s underground.
“Why are you two together?”
Kylian asked, puzzled by why Duke Percival had his hand on Phileal’s shoulder in a comforting manner.
“Where is Anais?”
“Didn’t you take her?”
Duke Percival seemed equally confused. Phileal, who had been listening to their conversation, turned to look at Kylian.
“No way.”
Phileal locked eyes with Leviathan, who covered his mouth with his hand, having the same expression as Phileal. Phileal mirrored this gesture. He wrapped his hand, marked with the pentagram and looked despaired.
“Unbelievable.”
“What’s happening…!”
Kylian shifted his gaze between Phileal and Leviathan, bewildered by their intense reactions.
“What’s going on? Has something happened to Anais?”
“Communication has been completely severed.”
“…What does that mean?”
“All the priests of death in the palace are dead.”
“Leviathan! Can you reach the other priests? I can’t make any connections at all!”
Furrowing his brow as he tried to understand the situation, Leviathan finally responded.
“Not long ago, all the priests of death were summoned to the palace.”
“What?”
Phileal stared at Leviathan in shock.
“Why?”
“To pursue Anais Percival.”
At those words, Phileal’s face went pale as he stared blankly at Leviathan, as if he couldn’t think straight.
“If that’s the case, then Anais must be in the palace.”
“Explain yourself in detail, Second Bishop.”
Kylian leveled his sword at Phileal’s neck, while Duke Percival aimed his gun at Kylian.
With an urgent expression, Phileal asked Leviathan.
“Are you really trying to summon the God of Death?”
“I don’t know. But you know better than anyone that it’s impossible.”
“If we sacrifice all of us, it might be possible temporarily. But why… would the High Priest…?”
Only the High Priest could initiate such a scheme. Conducting a ritual of that magnitude required at least a Second Bishop level of power.
