Weed ~The One’s Gardener~ - Chapter 80
As usual, they slept together.
Weed was always affectionate, and even though he sometimes lost himself in the moment, he always brought Hana joy. He found greater satisfaction in Hana’s happiness than in his own.
However, Hana often felt that Weed seemed to be running from something, appearing anxious or uneasy at times. She didn’t want to see him like that. She only wished for him to always smile without worry.
She hoped he would be happy.
Hana had always thought of Weed as a god but soon denied it. If Weed were truly a god, he wouldn’t have created such a wretched world that places responsibility on its creatures. If it were him, he would have sacrificed himself instead.
Someone like him wouldn’t create such a world. But.
‘A god is merely a comfort. Peace for the survivors.’
Hana once again thought of Weed as a god.
Wasn’t it said that a god was one who provided comfort? Meeting Weed in this world was a profound miracle. Weed had breathed new life into Hana and given her the will to live. Coming here, she had received even greater comfort from him than ever before.
She was happy. For Hana, Weed was a god.
“Weed. Weed…”
“Yes, Hana. Is something wrong? Are you in pain?”
When she called him in the middle of the night, Weed became concerned. He carefully checked if Hana, who was feeling unwell, was suffering from any other discomfort. Though Hana leaned into his considerate touch, she shook her head.
“Can I have some water, please?”
“Ah… yes, just a moment.”
“Weed.”
“Yes, Hana.”
“Come here for a moment.”
She gently stroked his forehead. She pushed his bangs aside and kissed his exposed, smooth brow. The kiss was light and affectionate, producing a soft sound. She felt the warmth that spread beyond his lips.
“Ha, Hana…”
“Thank you.”
Weed also kissed her. He not only responded to the kiss on her forehead but also touched her cheeks, nose, and lips with deep affection.
Hana smiled and stroked him.
“Hurry up.”
Weed nodded and quickly went to look for a water bottle, but he knew there likely wasn’t one in the room since Hana had discarded all such items. There probably wasn’t even a cup left. He said he’d be back soon and hurried out the door.
She quickly got up. Seeing him disappear down the hallway, she ran in the opposite direction.
She didn’t like running. It hurt.
But now, she would escape the pain of this world.
Forever.
“Void.”
[ It pleases me. You are calling me. ]
She didn’t know the way. It would be a long distance, but it didn’t matter.
“Rumpe ante lucem.”
Shine brighter than light.
Hana recited the incantation she had secretly received from Calden. A blue light appeared in the air, forming a circular pattern. Hana reached out to the magical portal that had appeared in the air and retrieved a treasure from the magical kingdom of Eatinte.
The wand of light.
“Guide me.”
This would end it.
She would bring him eternal peace now. He would no longer need to summon creatures from another realm. He would no longer feel guilt for those who sacrificed themselves. He would no longer weep. She would grant him what the priests had long desired.
Finally, peace for him.
At last, Hana would become a god to him.
[ Ah, it pleases me. Finally. Finally. Finally, the time has come. Have you decided on what you wish? ]
“Yes.”
Hana raised the wand of light high.
“Let’s go.”
She would erase his memories.
25. If You Like It
Hana held the wand high.
A tingling sensation began to spread through the hand that held it. She felt a sense of floating, a weightlessness. She didn’t like feeling suspended, but it was okay now. She wasn’t afraid anymore.
Thinking back, she had endlessly questioned her life. Why was she born? Why did she exist? There was no one who particularly valued her. No one to love her, and no one she loved. She had to live alone in a lonely world. Why was she still enduring this painful world?
She had never found an answer. In truth, her questions were not meant to find an answer. They were more like sighs.
‘Why are you still alive?’
‘What is it that remains for you?’
‘I will grant you what you desire.’
Void asked.
Hana couldn’t answer any of the questions. They were similar to the ones she had constantly pondered. Why was she alive? It was a question she had asked herself. How could she answer something she didn’t know?
To her, those words felt like a reprimand, a lament. The words had long lost their meaning. No one had demanded an answer, nor had she thought of providing one.
Now was the time she was finally accepting it as a question.
Thud.
She planted the wand firmly into the ground. The vibration she had felt at her fingertips spread through her entire body. It felt as though her body was becoming stiff and rigid or perhaps turning to mush. Eventually, her vision blurred as if she was being pulled somewhere.
A low, indistinguishable humming filled her ears. The sudden dizziness was too much for her to handle, and Hana collapsed to the floor.
“Huuh… uhh…”
She took deep breaths, trying to steady herself.
The sensation was unpleasant. Her body seemed to collapse to its limit and then stretch back to its original state.
There was no pain, yet something akin to an aftereffect remained. Though she couldn’t be sure, that was the best way she could describe it. Perhaps it was like motion sickness. She had never used magic before, so she didn’t know.
The sudden dizziness soon passed.
Hana got back up and took a few steps, lifting the wand high. The orb at the end of the wand began to hum and emit light. It looked as if fireworks were bursting inside the orb.
Fireworks, huh? Was it celebrating something?
Today, of course, would be a good day.
