Weed ~The One’s Gardener~ - Chapter 114
How to Love This World.
Lar de Ligna Initia.
The master of this land observed the passing things and didn’t interfere.
No matter how serious a problem arose in human affairs, from the perspective of the world, it was no different than the birth and death of a weed. Even if the human species were to become extinct, it would be the same. Humans are not special beings, and the world would not collapse just because of such an event.
If something as serious as the void were to occur, Void would let them know. For now, though, neither Hana nor Weed had any tasks to fulfill for the world.
In that sense, Hana and Weed were quite compatible. Both of them stayed within Lar, showing no interest in anything beyond it.
While Weed and the other priests would sometimes show curiosity about the problems of humans, other species, or animals, and would sometimes get involved to help, Hana was different.
She was a god who was rather cold when it came to such matters. Whether the creatures loved each other or waged wars wasn’t her concern. In fact, even without God’s intervention, the world would continue to function just fine.
The God of this world was perhaps nothing more than an emergency response team to resolve any defects in the world itself.
‘Ha… an emergency response team.’
It was a term she had come up with herself, but it struck her as an amusing way to describe their situation. Thinking this way, she really lost interest.
Leaving Lar felt like just an extension of some work assignment.
Even so, she really enjoyed the garden that Weed had created just for her, Lar de Ligna Initia. Hana spent most of her time gazing down at the garden from the skies of Lar. Perhaps because she was essentially immortal, that alone made the time pass by effortlessly.
“Don’t you want to go out, Hana?”
One day, Weed asked.
It was while she was spending time absentmindedly around Lar, as usual. When she turned to look at the source of the sound, she saw Weed, dressed handsomely as always. The sunlight shining behind him made him look especially radiant today.
She was weak to Weed’s appearance, and it seemed that he knew how to use it to his advantage, as he always took his time to dress up and go out.
And he always positioned himself in places where he would look his best.
Today’s appearance was striking. Even the most beloved concubine in a kingdom wouldn’t dress like that when meeting the Emperor. Weed was wearing a sharp-looking navy blue outfit adorned with silver thread embroidery and a darker-colored cloak. He practically sparkled as if he was a gem.
‘He kind of looks like a peacock.’
The thought made her smile.
It was a bit late again today. Whenever she suggested a walk, he always took his time like this. She had just been passing time waiting for him. Weed, as if asking if she liked his appearance today, straightened his collar and puffed out his chest.
Hana, recognizing his intentions, couldn’t help but smile again.
Ah.
For a moment, she had lost focus. Weed had just asked her if she wanted to leave La.
“Mm? Do you think I’m trapped here or something?”
“That’s not it… It’s just that the priests sometimes enjoy traveling in human form. I wondered if Hana might be interested.”
“I’ve never been one to enjoy socializing or hanging out with others.”
She shrugged her shoulders deliberately to look good in front of him.
“If I’ve already built things up so well, they should be able to take care of themselves by now.”
“I see…”
Weed responded in a way that seemed like he was a bit disappointed. But that feeling passed quickly. Before long, he was standing close to her, extending his hand, suggesting they spend time with the priests in Lar again.
“It seems like there are more priests coming back lately?”
“Yes, the children who were enjoying traveling outside have started returning recently.”
“Hmm.”
“Hana, come here.”
He spoke in a singsong voice and naturally pulled Hana into an embrace.
After kissing her cheek, he waited for her to return the gesture before slowly starting to walk. As she relaxed in his arms, Hana suddenly realized something amusing.
What had just happened, a simple and ordinary gesture, had somehow become a routine.
It was always like this.
Before she knew it, she was fully immersed in something from which she couldn’t escape. Whether Weed did it knowingly or not, he always began things that way and seemed to enjoy them without a care.
He walked with long strides and led her to a special garden he had set up in front of a cliff. The river flowing below offered a perfect view, making it a good spot to enjoy the scenery at any time. A table formed from the twisted trunk of an old tree and chairs made of fresh grass and flowers welcomed Hana.
There was no need to walk—Weed gently sat her down in place. As he sat across from her, she sipped the fruit tea he had handed her.
‘At this rate, am I going to end up unable to live without Weed?’
Hana, who was worrying about unnecessary things in her mind, was met with Weed’s smiling face.
“Hana.”
“Huh?”
“Do you want to meet the priests who just came back? I heard you mention them earlier.”
“No, not really.”
“If you talk to them, they’ll be happy.”
“Yes, maybe later.”
Hana understood the hint in his words. But really, she wasn’t the most sociable person. Back in the day, she had to meet people, exchange words, and deal with crowds to get things done. But now, with no such obligations, she has become extremely withdrawn.
From what he had just said, it seemed like Weed was a little worried. But Hana genuinely found this life very satisfying.
But would he be okay with it? He never really demanded anything.
The owner of this place, Hana, and Weed, who was by her side, rarely left their secluded spot. Over time, even the forest creatures, who used to go out to enjoy the human world, eventually stopped leaving Lar altogether.
